In the morning, when I wake up, Touka is at home.
During school breaks, we spend relatively all day together, and even have lunch together.
After school, we have study sessions almost every day. It has been about a week since I started spending most of my time with Touka.

“Tomorrow is the test period. There is a difference between the subjects that I can get points for and the ones that I can’t. …… I’m afraid I’ll get a red mark. Is Touka good enough for all subjects? ”
The season has shifted to summer, and as I flap my uniform, I ask the question to Touka, who is on her way home with me as usual.
“If I get a red mark, my mom will kill me, so I have to get the best score possible. Is math dangerous for you?”
Touka replies with a laugh that she needs to get a high score so that aunt won’t be angry with her.
“I have to do well in math, but I’m even more in trouble with modern and ancient Japanese literature.”
I am still holding on to the fact that I can get an average score in mathematics.
However, the modern and ancient literature are more important.
When it comes to modern Japanese literature, the fact that I told Touka that I lacked Japanese language skills is the best proof that I misunderstood the meaning of permanent employment.
I can’t write classical Japanese, partly because I can’t write modern Japanese.
“Then we’ll be training hard starting today.”
Touka, who is affirmative about increasing her study time, bends her elbows and makes a fist pose with a smile on her face.
“Please ……”
“For that, I’ll ask you to teach me English.”
Thus it was decided that the obviously not equal teaching would continue on an ongoing basis.

“I heard that Kokubu-sensei, who is in charge of our class, is the main person in charge of the modern literature, so I think we will hear a lot of the emotional questions that we often hear in class.”
“Ah, you mean the ones where we are supposed to think about how the other characters are feeling, rather than how the main character is feeling?”
“Yes, that’s why I think there will be more questions on novels than on critiques.”
“Do I understand that much? If Touka had taught me before, I might have been able to study more efficiently…”
Until now, I had only studied the test range evenly in the regular examinations, but I realized that there was a possibility that I could study more efficiently.
“We’ve had study groups for a while now, but until recently we haven’t really taught each other.”
We had study groups even before we started talking about permanent employment. But it wasn’t about teaching each other, it was about monitoring each other and each person working on his or her own issues.
“I’m definitely putting more pressure on Touka than I did before, but I like it better now.”
Before, there was a sense of obligation and a slight distance between us. But now, rather than doing our own assignments, we are studying together to work on our own subjects.
This is all because I asked her if she wanted to get a permanent job. ……
“Ehehe, I see. So you like it better now too, Maa-kun. I actually like it better now, too. I can really feel that I’m studying with Maa-kun, unlike before.”
It has only been a few days since Touka became more proactive, but somehow I feel that her expression is brighter than before.
“As long as Touka is teaching me like this, I definitely have to avoid getting red marks.”
“I also have to do my best so that I can get a perfect score in English that Ma-kun taught me.”
When I see Touka smiling at me with joy, it becomes harder and harder to say that what I said was wrong.

“I see, so you can learn to read old Japanese if you memorize the vocabulary?”
“Yeah. But I think that the regular test will probably ask a lot of questions about conjugations, so memorizing them and memorizing the translations of sentences that contain the characteristic particles may be a higher priority.”
“So you’re going to review the part-of-speech breakdowns that we did in the preliminaries?”
“Yes, yes.”
Following on from the modern Japanese, Touka now gives me a guideline for studying during the test week for the final exam in the ancient Japanese language.
“…… this is sudden, Maa-kun. But I want to play for the English score.”
“I don’t mind if it’s in English.”
“How about the loser listens to whatever the winner says?”
She was so confident that her eyes were full of motivation.
“I understand.”
I agreed without thinking about whether I could win or what she was going to ask me to do.

“I will definitely win against Ma-kun. I’ll win and get him to do what I say.”
After the study session, Touka came home from Masaki’s house and was burning to get Masaki to listen to her.
“I wonder what I’ll have you do for me if I win. ……”
