Episode 37 – Office

Sunday morning.

“Ah〜, what a bliss……”

Rumble, rumble, rumble.

I was lying on my bed.

Since I go to school on weekdays, I inevitably have to work on Saturdays and Sundays, and I don’t have any time off, but today I have nothing to do, which is unusual for me.

Now, what shall I do today–

Brrt brrt

My phone is ringing. Who is it?

“Hello, this is Nekura.”

[I’m sorry for calling you so early in the morning. Good morning, Ryoga kun.”

“Yeah, good morning–Seki san,”

It was Seki san, my manager, who called me.

[I’ve got something for you, so can you come to the office now? I have some things I want to talk to you about.]

“Yes, I understand.”

Probably he wanted me to pick up the script for the post recording, rehearsal 5 (unfinished footage for post recording practice), details of the audition, and other documents.

They also want to verbally inform me of the details of each job and the schedule.

Thankfully, the number of jobs has been increasing recently, so it will take some time.

[I’ll be waiting for you at the office〜]

“Yes, excuse me.”

I hung up the phone and changed into my going-out clothes.

“Hm, are you going out, Onii chan?”

When I went to the living room, I saw Akari eating breakfast in her pajamas.

Her eyes, which are usually wide open, are squinted and she is making a sleepy little fussing sound.

“yeah, I’m off to the office for a bit.”

“I see…….that’s too bad.”

“S-sorry, okay? I’ll be back as soon as I finish my business.”

“It’s okay, don’t worry. I’ll take care of the housekeeping.”

Saying that, Akari smiles like a sunflower.

She’s a good little sister who admires me, even though I’m like this.

“Are you going home late at night?”

“No, I’ll be home for dinner.”

“Okay, I’ll make you your favorite hamburg steak. Good luck with your work, okay?”

“Yeah, of course.”

I really think that Akari is the cutest person in the world after all…….

Pat pat

“Ngh….. S-so embarrassing……”

“Don’t you like it?”

“I-I don’t mind. Maybe.”

I was able to pat Akari’s head for a while, and then I went to the bathroom, set my hair, got ready, and was ready to go.

Now, let’s head out—-

I left home, took the train, and arrived at the nearest station to my office about two stops away, and I was walking to the office.

“Ah, here we are.”

Soon, I arrived in front of the building where the office is located.

But still,

“I’m nervous…….”

The reason for this is–well, you’ll understand once you enter the building.

“E-excuse me–“

[ [ [ [Good afternoon ! !] ] ] ]

Ba-dump !

I brace myself unintentionally.

This is it……

What I see is a line of people with name tags hanging at the entrance of the office, bowing their heads in a row.

It’s a situation that the average person would find hard to believe, but this is the norm at Aono Enterprises, the office I belong to.

It’s a tradition for new voice actors who have only been with the company for a year and young voice actors who have yet to get work to hang their name tags from their necks and greet the production company staff, senior voice actors, and managers who visit the office so that they can get to know them.

If they don’t remember your face, it won’t lead to work, and if they continue to do so, they will fail the screening process for regular affiliation with the office.

And that means–[you can’t be a voice actor].

That’s why everyone desperately tries to sell themselves by making their voices heard and saying hello.

I know how it feels because until two years ago, I was on their side as well.

But I’m not very good at it……

I’ve gotten used to being a social recluse at school, so I’m not very good at talking to people my own age.

But I can’t just walk by in silence…….

“E-excuse me……”

Buzz buzz buzz

For some reason, women are pointing at me and mumbling about something.

I guess they are drawn to me because I’m so ugly.

Kuh……should I have worn a mask and glasses after all?

It’s a little depressing when it’s that blatant……

“U-um !”

“You’re Ryoga san, right?”

When I tried to pass by while erasing my presence as much as possible, I was surrounded by women.

“W-what is it?”

When I say that, everyone looks at each other.

It’s like they’re checking each other out……but what?

No, I don’t think this is–a shakedown?

I-if it’s money, I don’t have much in my wallet !

“U-um, I don’t have money in–“

“Tell me your line !”

There’s no benefit from getting my line…….

“Hey, Mami, that’s not fair ! Please tell me your line, too.”

“U-um, I’d like to exchange line with you, too !”

“H-hey, wait…….”

The girls were pressing their phones and bodies against me as if they were pushing each other.

A-as expected, this is bad.

Boing boing boing

Soft, or rather, ah, sweet smell makes my head……

S-someone help me !

“Ah, Ryoga kun, you here?”

I looked in the direction of the voice and saw Seki san scurrying around.

T-thank God…….

“S-sorry !”

“Ah” “W-wait.”

Bang !

I escaped from the surroundings and went to Seki san.

“Hello, I’m here.”

“Hahaha, you’re as popular as ever, Ryoga kun.”

Seki san shrugs his shoulders with a bitter smile.

What is he talking about?

“Eh, what is it?”

“No, it’s nothing. Then let’s go to the conference room.”

I followed Seki san to the conference room.

But still, what happened earlier?

Now that I think back on it–sigh……, I really don’t understand, seriously.
