<Matsura Sera’s point of view>
After arriving in Okinawa, I was having a great time sightseeing with my friends.
Then I saw it.
Two shadows on a boat floating on the water.
One of them lost his balance on the boat, and was about to fall on the other shadow and cover it.
Then those two shadows came back together, awkwardly, but in a friendly way.
I then learned that the shadows were my ex-boyfriend, Kakuta Shoma, and one of the school’s three most beautiful girls, Masuda Ayaka.
Since then, that was all I could think about for the rest of the day.
I couldn’t get it out of my head no matter what I did, even when I was eating, taking a bath, or lying on my futon trying to sleep.
I thought this would be a problem in my life, so after the last round of the doctor’s visits, I went to see him to make sure.
Knock-knock.
I knocked quietly on the door.
The door was gently opened and Shoma came out from inside.
“Sera?! Why are you here?”
“I couldn’t sleep for a while and I kind of wanted to talk to Shoma.”
He made a small, surprised noise, but I answered as if nothing had happened.
“But you should probably go back because the teachers might be making their rounds.”
“I heard that after the teachers made their rounds earlier, they won’t be coming again, so as long as we don’t make too much noise, we’ll be fine.”
“I see.”
“Yes. So I’d like to talk to you.”
“It’s fine, but Daiki’s sleeping in my room, so let’s go somewhere else.”
“I understand.”
I persistently asked him to do so, and Shoma agreed to do so after a little bit of hesitation.
Then we slipped away to the seaside near the hotel without being noticed by the teachers.
We were silent until we arrived at the beach, but when we got there and sat down side by side, Shoma started talking to me.
“It’s been a while since we’ve talked alone.”
“Yes, it has.”
“Are you having fun on your school trip?”
“well, so so. How about you, Shoma?”
“It’s my first time in Okinawa, so I’m having a great time.”
“That’s great.”
“I’m thirsty, so I’m going to get something to drink. Do you want anything, Sera?”
“Thanks, I’d like something warm.”
I said that and Shoma immediately went to a nearby vending machine to buy something to drink.
I waited for a while, looking at the sea alone, and then Shoma came back with two drinks.
“Here.”
Shoma then offered me the warm drink I had asked for, a plastic bottle of black tea. I wondered if it was my imagination, but his eyes seemed to be looking at me differently than usual.
“Thank you.”
I accepted it. Shoma had chosen a canned coffee.
The two of us each took a sip, took a breath, and then Shoma opened his mouth again.
“So?”
“Hmm?”
“You came here because you wanted to talk to me, didn’t you?”
I was a little surprised at Shoma’s words, but I immediately asked him what I wanted to ask.
“Shoma, today at noon, you were on a boat, weren’t you? You and Masuda-san.”
“Yeah.”
“And then you both lost your balance do that….., right?”
“You were watching me again?”
Shouma glares at me like that.
“It’s not like I following you. Besides, I wouldn’t do something like that. It happened by accident while I was sightseeing with my friends.”
“I see. Sera would never do such a thing right”
I quickly explained myself and Shoma immediately believed me.
After all, Shoma is very kind.
“So you did, didn’t you? That kiss, with Masuda-san.”
