Time passed and the day of the class match arrived.
“The day of the class match arrived. Have you been practicing?
“Well, a little.”
“I can’t watch the preliminaries because of the time conflicts, but if I make it to the finals, I’ll be able to cheer for the winners. The best way to do this is to be a good student! Heiheihou!”
“Oooh.”
Daiki, full of enthusiasm, said that and ran off somewhere.
I went to the shoe box to go out to the ground and saw Hinano.
“Hinano, let’s work hard today, okay?”
“Yes. You should do your best, too.”
Since that day, she has been a little flat with me.
For some reason, the value on her forehead is
90
I can see that she is in a bad mood.
“Bye then, I’m in a hurry”
Without even giving me a chance to make small talk, Hinano quickly ran off.
The boys’ soccer team with Daiki and our basketball team made it to the finals of the preliminary round of class matches. The girls’ volleyball and basketball teams were off to a good start.
“Shoma! I heard you won the basketball tournament.”
“Yeah. I didn’t do anything. I was lucky in the lottery. How was soccer?”
“Fine. The girls look good, so we might actually win the overall.”
“I heard that all the third-year students will be in the final tournament, so be careful.”
While we were talking about this, Mai started talking to me.
“Shoma-senpai! Congratulations on the final tournament! I also watched the preliminary games. You can play basketball too, can’t you?”
“Thanks. You saw the preliminary games, too?”
“Yes, I did. I also participated in the basketball game, but I lost in the first round, so I’ve been watching all of your games since then.”
“Oh, I see.”
“Yes! So, senpai, please do your best to win the championship! I’ll be rooting for you.”
“Thanks.”
I patted Mai’s head and she smiled very happily.
Then the final tournament began.
In men’s soccer, thanks to Daiki’s great offensive and defensive performance, we won the final, though just barely in the semifinals.
However, the rapid advance ended here. They were beaten up by the third grade class, which was made up of experienced soccer players, and ended up in the second place.
In women’s basketball, Hinano was a powerhouse and took the championship as a matter of course.
It was a game that made me wonder again if Hinano really has no flaws.
The other competitions were very exciting, with various classes winning in various ways.
And lastly, the men’s basketball. Men’s basketball.
The last game of the day, and the final.
The opponent was the class that Daiki and his team had played against in soccer, and the winner of this match would decide the overall champion, so many spectators had come to watch.
“Shoma, the overall championship depends on you.”
“Don’t say things like that to make me nervous.”
“Go beat up the guy we lost to. For that reason, here.”
“What Daiki handed me was a pair of contacts I used to use.”
“Why do you have these?”
“I can’t tell you the details, but someone asked me to give them to you.”
“I see. Thanks But what should I do with the glasses? I don’t have time to drop them off.”
“I’ll take care of your glasses. Put them on and go win!”
“Ou!”
With that said, I put on my contacts and got ready for the match.
At the whistle, the game begins with cheers and a jump ball.
The match lasted 8 minutes, 16 minutes in total.
First, it was the opponent who got the ball.
They passed the ball at a good tempo and came close to scoring a goal.
Although not all of the players seemed to be experienced, not all of them could play.
Then, when they reached the goal, they tried to shoot.
But my teammate managed to block it and it was my ball.
I receive the ball, dribble slowly, look around, and make a pass.
My teammate scores the first goal.
The crowd cheers, the loudest so far.
The first half ended in a tie.
I shared my strategy with my teammates and headed for the second half.
Immediately after the second half started, I dribbled the ball by myself as we had discussed.
As I passed one or two opponents, the cheers grew louder.
As I reach the goal and all the opponents come at me to stop me, I pass the ball to a fellow player on the outside.
He shoots and scores three goals.
The whole gymnasium erupts in cheers.
The other team attacks, trying not to let that happen, but impatience only leads to mistakes.
From that point on, it was up to me and my teammates.
Then came the last play.
I dribbled slowly, and as if remembering the old days, I got into shooting form.
The other team lost their will to fight and didn’t come to block.
My shot went into the goal in a beautiful parabola.
The whistle sounded to end the game with the pleasant sound of the ball scraping against the net.
At this moment, the loudest cheer of the day rang out, and the overall championship was decided.
Everyone in the class, except one, rushed to me and shouted in unison.
I was quietly savoring this nostalgic and pleasant space.
After the class match was over, I was sitting in my class when Daiki came up to me and asked
“How was it? It’s been a while since you played basketball, Mr. MVP.”
“Thanks a lot. I’m glad. Congratulations on getting a free coupon for the cafeteria.”
“Oh, it’s all thanks to Shoma. Everyone in the class was happy too.”
“I’m glad to hear that.”
“Here, here’s your glasses.”
“Thanks.”
“Speaking of which, are those glasses fake?”
“Eh?”
I was surprised.
Then I asked him.
“Daiki, don’t tell me you wear these glasses?”
“W-What’s the matter? I put them on, what’s wrong?”
“Did you talk to anyone with them on?”
“N-no. I took them off right away, so I didn’t talk to anybody.”
“I see. That’s all right.”
I was relieved.
If he had talked to anyone or anything, he might have found out about the likability.
I let out a breath, took off my contacts, which I hadn’t worn recently and wasn’t used to, and put my glasses back on.
“I hope the MVP rumor is true, Shoma.”
“I hope. I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”
I casually looked at Daiki’s face.
The number on his forehead had changed to something I had seen before.
–
This is the same as Ayaka’s.
No way.
When I was surprised at the thing, Daiki said
“No, Now I’m looking forward to it.”
“Now?”
When I asked him that, he said in a louder voice than usual
“Because you just broke up with Matsuura Sera and are now free, right?”
His voice drew the attention of the class toward me.
“You have a loud voice.”
“That’s fine, you don’t have to hide it.”
“But still…~”
I had some things on my mind, but I decided to leave for the day, passing on the questions and invitations to the launch party from everyone in the class.
