One day a few days into summer vacation.

While studying how to write a script, I was working hard at the same time.

However, there was no way I could suddenly write a script since I had never done any serious reading, let alone writing, so I just kept writing and erasing and repeating.

Thanks to an instructional book I borrowed from the library, [How to Write a Script Even a Monkey Can Understand] I have managed to understand that a script is composed of “pillars,” “stage directions,” and “dialogues”.

But when it came time to write the script, I had no idea what scenes to write or what dialogue to have the actors say.

In the morning, I stayed in my room and tapped away at the keyboard with an unaccustomed hand, but once my hand stopped, I couldn’t move forward.

When I went down to the living room to refresh my mind, I found that it was just around noon.

Hanabi had gone out since this morning and my parents were out of town for work, so I was the only one at home.

Since I didn’t have to cook lunch for Hanabi, I decided to just have a cup of noodles.

As I poured hot water into the cup, I was absentmindedly thinking about the rest of the scene I was writing, but once I lost my concentration, I couldn’t think straight.

I shook my head and let out a sigh.

“As expected, I should probably take a break…….”

I’ve been thinking about the script every day lately, and my motivation has been declining

I thought it might be important to take a break and forget about the script once in a while.

I decided to do so, and after finishing my cup noodles for lunch, I started preparing to go outside.

Since the start of the summer vacation, I have only gone outside regularly to buy food, and that’s bad enough.

It makes me feel depressed.

It’s summer vacation, so it would be nice to go see a movie once in a while.

So I decided to go to a movie theater at a nearby shopping mall.

◆ ◆ ◆

The sun was shining brightly.

The chirping of cicadas and the stinging sunlight made me feel that summer was in full swing.

After a 30-minute train ride, I arrived at the biggest shopping mall in the area. There is a movie theater on the top floor of the mall.

I came here to watch a movie as a diversion from my writing, but it would also be a good opportunity to learn how to write a script.

With this in mind, I entered the air-conditioned store and took the escalator on my way to the movie theater on the top floor.

“A-Asahi……?”

I was suddenly called by a voice, and when I turned around….there stood my sister, Sagami Hanabi.

And behind Hanabi are Futaba senpai, Juri senpai, and Nagisa senpai.

Hanabi and the others were probably shopping, all carrying bags with the same store’s logo on them.

“Why are you here……?”

Hanabi’s eyes widened when she accidentally said my name when she spotted me, but soon returned to her usual calm and collected expression.

Then Futaba senpai peeked out from behind Hanabi.

“Hey, it’s Asahi kun~! Did you come shopping too, Asahi kun?”

“Ah, no. I came to watch a movie.”

Nagisa senpai and Juri senpai also came up to me.

“By any chance, are you studying the script?”

“Yes, that’s part of it, but mainly for a change of pace.”

“Writing a script sounds like a lot of work.”

But still, I never thought I would run into Hanabi and my seniors at a place like this…….

Perhaps I disturbed the four of them……I feel bad.

However, I couldn’t leave this place openly, so I made a random small talk.

“Did you come here to shop, Senpai?”

“Yeah, we all came here to buy swimsuits.”

“H-hee.”

The word “swimsuit” makes me feel nervous.

Isn’t it quite difficult to say “swimsuit” as a topic of conversation with the opposite sex?

When I was confused, Nagisa senpai added.

“Next week, the four of us are planning to go to the swimming pool.”

“A swimming pool?”

“Oh, I heard that Futaba got an entrance pass to a large swimming pool facility.”

“The four of us will be starting summer school in a little while, so we decided to go have fun before that~”

They seem to be on good terms as usual, and it makes me smile.

Then, Futaba senpai suddenly clapped her palms together as if she had just thought of something.

“Ah, that’s right~. If you like, Asahi kun, would you like to go with us?”

“W-wait, Futaba…….”

Futaba senpai said, and Hanabi poked her with her elbow.

However, I also understood Hanabi’s feelings a little.

Perhaps she doesn’t want her younger brother to interfere with her time with her friends.

It’s a long-awaited invitation, but I’m going to decline it……..I heard Futaba senpai and Juri senpai’s voices interrupting her words.

“Isn’t it fine? It’s not easy for the five of us to get together.”

“I guess it’s definitely more fun when there are more people.”

Hanabi looked troubled when she was told that.

It’s not like t I didn’t want to go to the pool with the seniors, but I felt bad about interrupting the time of the four of them.

I opened my mouth to express my sympathy for Hanabi’s feelings.

“A-are you sure you don’t mind if I go?”

“Of course~”

“No, but I can’t interrupt your time……”

“No, don’t worry about it. We are always together.”

“Yeah, since we’re here, Asahi, let’s go together too.”

I had intended to make a gentle refusal, but the atmosphere became somewhat difficult to refuse.

Hanabi still had a difficult look on her face, but Futaba senpai gave a smile that seemed to lighten the mood.

“It’s okay with you too, right Hanabi chan?”

“….Yeah, I guess so.”

Even so, Hanabi looks a little uncomfortable.

I think it would be better for me to say no to this……

“Um……I’m sorry. I’m not going after all.”

Then, Hanabi muttered in a whisper,

“It’s not like…….”

“Eh?”

“It’s not like you need to worry about it. Asahi can come along if he wants to.”

“Eh, um……”

The conversation between the two siblings is as usual.

That’s how I decided to join them.
