I thought that classes would begin immediately, but it seemed that first we needed to decide who would be in charge of what. This school has a large number of students. The school building is large enough to accommodate that number of students, so it is not possible to pay a contractor to do everything. Therefore, various matters were left to the students in the name of self-reliance. Hmmm…cost cutting.

The same goes for the postings in the school building.

Teachers alone could not handle it, and it seems that each class has its own staff member who takes turns. In a normal school, there would be loud complaints. But this is a serious school. There was no one who, although they were probably dissatisfied inside, clearly refused to accept the homeroom teacher’s explanation.

“Well then, first of all, I would like to choose a class president who will be in charge of this class. This may be the toughest job, but I think it will be the one that will have the most visibility in the entire grade, including the student council. Please participate actively.”

The first person to be chosen by the homeroom teacher was the class president. This is a section that is decided on the assumption that it will remain unchanged for one year. The reason for this was that there were not only sports and cultural festivals, but also many other events, which would have been difficult to explain if they were to take turns for half a year.

In order to ensure the smooth running of events, homeroom teachers, and other activities within the class, there is one male and one female class president each.

I raised my hand in a slightly sneaky motion, thinking that no one wanted to do this in junior high school.

Then I noticed that the person seated in front of me also raised her hand in a flowing motion. Unlike me, her hands were raised in a straight, clean gesture, and the gesture I could see from behind me was beautiful. Her posture was beautiful. Unlike me, she was firm and confident in who she was.

“Thank you, Suminodo san and Orikawa san. If I don’t see anyone else then”

“Yes!”

There were some boys who raised their hands as if they were late, but after the homeroom teacher explained the job description again, they eventually gave up because they had club activities to attend to. The girls, perhaps influenced by Suminodo-san’s dignified atmosphere, had no new candidates, and it was decided that it would be me and Suminodo-san, who were the first to raise our hands.

The homeroom teacher urged us to become the class committee chairpersons, and we then took charge of the rest of the class.

“I am Orikawa Hisanobu. I will be in charge for one year, if you have any problems, please contact me and I will do my best to solve them. Although I can’t promise that I will be able to solve your problem, I would appreciate your cooperation.”

“My name is Suminodo Ageha. I didn’t think I’d be chosen as the person in charge right away, but I’m looking forward to working with you all for a year. I would like to cooperate with you as much as possible while listening to my classmates.”

Everyone was greeted with cheerful applause, perhaps feeling good that the most difficult slot had been decided so quickly. Certainly in junior high school it took a long time to decide, and I think the air in the classroom was heavy. Once again, I cheerfully said hello to my classmates, and then I decided on my responsibilities, just as my homeroom teacher had told me.

Yuisa was assigned to the bulletin board, a position that required diligent help, a deviation from her image as a gal with blonde hair and fair skin. There was also a public morals committee, but secretly I was glad that I was not a member of the public morals committee.

Suminodo-san was far more adept at running the place than I was, and once the committee decisions were made smoothly, the homeroom teacher would stand up with a happy look on her face.

“That went very well, didn’t it. Thank you both. I look forward to working with you all year long.”

The homeroom period ended just in time for the homeroom teacher to reiterate the explanation of the club’s admission period and various other matters that the students had received yesterday as well. The teacher nodded her head as if she was especially happy to have finished on time, and concluded by saying, “Let’s do our best for the rest of the day.”

“I didn’t know Orikawa was a character who ran for class president!”

“What do you mean by that? character? I was thinking of doing something different from junior high school, so I thought I’d give it a try for a year.”

“Uhyah, I can’t do that because I have club activities. Seriously, the things the teacher said you should do sounded pretty tedious, are you sure you’re okay?”

“Yeah, I heard that and figured if there was no one else to do it, I’d do it myself.”

“Hoo, that’s strange. But to tell you the truth, it’s a big help. It’s hard to decide on something like that.”

“It’s the same for me. The air was bad in junior high school, too, and it felt good for me to be able to make a clean decision like today. This might be my high school debut.”

When I laugh, he makes a serious face and tells me

“I have a favor to ask such a class president.”

“If it’s something I can solve, of course I’ll help you.”

“Yeah, I want you to show me the textbook for the next class with me.”

“Hanaten….”

“Don’t say that, President Orikawa. I can solve this problem with your help.”

“That’s just it, though. If you forget on the first day, I won’t be held responsible if you are noticed by a teacher.”

“Yeah, it’s just a misunderstanding. I was just mistaken. I reflected on it. I’ll bring all the subjects to school next time.”

“Yes, yes, keep it that way.”

Since I’m not that nice, I don’t ask you to bring them back to study. In the first place, he is not stupid when he comes to this high school. He is just out of it.

In the next class, the teacher gave him a warning, and he apologized and actively raised his hand to answer the questions.

“Math is my strongest subject”

Although he was the first to receive a demerit point from the teacher, he was praised by the math teacher, and I was impressed by how well he was able to get around.
