Interlude 5 – Yuina POV 4

“You guys can pretend you are picking on me when Ryou is walking by. If he won’t even look at me, then you’re going to have to shout a little louder, pull me up against the wall, grab my arm and try to force me to go with you.”

“I thought it would be a big operation, but it’s pretty standard. Well, he certainly seemed like a good-natured guy, so could he make it? But what if he still doesn’t want to help?”

“That won’t happen. If it’s that girl he is with, she’s  going to ask him to help.”

The men nodded in agreement.

After that, since we didn’t know when Ryou would return, we decided to do it  ahead around 5:00 p.m.

I knew there was nothing more I could do with them. I was about to move from this spot when I turned around and there he was, glaring at me.

“Oi, Yuina. Who the hell are they?”

“Ee? Kenji kun ? W-why are you here…?”

It was my boyfriend, Kenji, whom I had been communicating with on a messaging app just a few minutes earlier.

“’I’m not important right now.  I’m asking you why you’re in this back alley with two guys!!”

“No, these two guys are…”

While I was desperately trying to figure out what to do and how to tell him, the blond man from the side said something to Kenji kun that further disturbed the situation.

“Ha? What the hell are you talking about? She’s going to have some fun with us later, so don’t get in our way. I’ll let you off the hook now, so get the hell out of my way.”

“W-wait don’t say that….!”

“Aaa? I’m not talking to you. Don’t get all excited just because the dyed hair, okay?….Hey, Yuina, get the hell out of here !”

Kenji kun pulls my hand and tries to leave.

“What the hell!, this kid !!”

If this continues, they will start fighting……no, wait a minute, this might be a good thing.

It’s not like I was doing anything wrong with these people, so I just had to be honest with them. But still It’s my fault for making them misunderstood.

Besides, after what happened the other day, I’m sure Kenji would be willing to talk to me.

“Wait, Kenji kun ! I’m sorry I misled you by being with a guy in a place like this! But, these people are just trying to get revenge on Ryou!”

“Ryou…? Why is Saeki’s name there?”

I stood between the two of them, explained the situation, and began to talk to Kenji about helping them with what was to follow.

“So that’s it…”

Kenji kun folded his arms and fell silent after hearing everything I had to say.

“That’s what I’m talking about ! Kenji kun, you want to give Ryou a good beating, too, don’t you? Of course you’ll help us, right?”

“…….”

I was waiting for Kenji kun, who opened his eyes and looked at me but remained silent, to say that he would cooperate.

“Haa…….I refuse.”

“Ee………?”

Did Kenji just say no? Why?

“I’m disappointed in you, Yuina. I don’t like Saeki, but I don’t want to get revenge on him for that. Besides, you can almost guess what happens to Igarashi san after that!! Don’t drag her into your stupid fantasy!”

“Hey……….! I don’t care what happens to her ! Because she……!

Took Ryou from me …….

“Because she took Saeki from you?? You broke up with Saeki and dated me, didn’t you? Aren’t you the one who dumped him  ! and ever since Saeki has stopped dressing like a geek, you’ve been thinking about Saeki this Saeki that every day…. Am i not your boyfriend ! ! !” 

“No, that’s because… Ryou is…., Kenji kun….” 

Kenji kun told me his true feelings for the first time, it made my head complicated. I didn’t know he felt that way. If that’s the case, what have I been doing until now….? 

“Huff…. I don’t want to talk to you anymore right now. Just cool down your head and think about what you were trying to do.” 

“W-wait, Kenji kun ! Kenji kun ! ! ! ! !” 

Kenji kun doesn’t listen to any of my words and tells those two guys. 

“….. And you both over there. If you go through with what you just did, I’ll send your pictures to the police and tell them everything. Don’t get involved with her anymore.” 

“Tch.” “Ha…” 

Those guys distance themselves from Kenji kun when he showed them the picture that he took at some point. 

Then Kenji kun left.

I could only sit there and watch. 

“Ah〜. I’m not interested anymore. If you think about it, it’s a crime to deal with a minor. That was a close call. Well then, goodbye young lady. We’re going now.” 

“Haa, thank God. Nothing happened…. Oi wait for me !” 

Then the two men go away and I am left alone.

I sat down for a while, but then I got up and started to walk unsteadily.

I can’t stop thinking about what Kenji said to me.

…… What went wrong?

What did I do wrong?

Everyone left me. Why…?

I couldn’t remember how I got home from there. I found myself in my room.

“What’s wrong Yuina ? Your chopsticks are stopping.”

“E? N-nothing Father.”

I was relieved when Father spoke to me, and proceeded to eat my meal.

“Okay…Speaking of which, how’s it going with him picking you up in the mornings these days?

When Isuzu told me that you broke up with Ryouma kun, I thought something happened, but then I heard that Yuina dumped him.”

“……ts. e-ee..Don’t worry, he’s nicer than Ryo !

I can’t believe mom told Father……I was asked suddenly, so I fumbled. Even though I had just had a fight with him a while ago.

“Then it’s okay. Ryouma kun looked like that so I didn’t want him to be with you. Yuina must be happy. Hahahaha!”

“Wait, darling. That’s……”

“What is it ?….Sorry, I’m contacted by the company. I’ll leave for a while.”

“Mou….Yuina? Are you sure you want to keep it that way? You’ve been tying up Ryoma kun’s life in a big way up until now, and now you’re trying to cause him more trouble…I’m responsible for not stopping it, but still …….”

Mom pokes me where it hurts, and I stand up, slamming the desk with a bang.

“Thanks for dinner! I’m going to take a bath and go to bed, so don’t come into my room!”

“W-wait Yuina !”

Shut up, shut up, shut up. Mom and Kenji kun made it seem like they were on the same side as Ryo and that girl. ……

Why does it bother me when I get involved with Ryo? That has never happened to me before.

After that, no matter how much I thought about it, I couldn’t figure out what Kenji kun wanted to say or why I was so bewildered now, so I just pouted and said a few words.

“……Why am I so obsessed with Ryou?”

Naturally, there was no response. I then fell asleep as I felt my consciousness fading away.

Then one day, after a while, I received a call from Kenji that he could not go with me today, so I went to school alone and entered the classroom, where I was spoken to by someone I did not expect.

“Hey Yuina, I need to talk to you today. After school, after everyone goes home, in this classroom.”
