“We will now begin the first meeting of our band (temporarily) ! Let’s go, let’s go !”
The band meeting was held in a rented empty classroom at the university.
Standing at the podium with a whiteboard in the background, Ari san declared in high spirits with high spirits.
The reason for her high spirits goes without saying.
But I dare say it !
Because Ari san’s golden members are all here!!
The four of us in this classroom are myself, Ari san, Misumi senpai who just joined the other day, and Ryoko, who nodded her head after much hesitation.
The members who had tutored and been together all last school year were all back together again.
“Ehehe, Shino san and Ryoko san, thank you once again for joining us ! I was thinking that if we were going to form a band, it would definitely be the four of us !”

Misumi-senpai was smiling and seemed genuinely happy. It’s her new attempt, but since the members are so relaxed, their hearts are probably filled with relief and anticipation.
Ryoko, on the other hand, is still a little awkward. She had been refusing to participate for a long time, but she made a complete turnaround and announced her participation, so she must be feeling sorry. It’s not like Ari san cares about such things.
“Ehehe, I love you both ! Ah, of course I love Kingo too, okay?”

“Let’s begin the first meeting of our band. Today, I would like to decide on the name of the band group and the parts of each member.”
Ari san writes the agenda on the whiteboard. The name of the band is a must, and the parts have been roughly decided, but it would be good to confirm them again.
“Ari san, I have a suggestion. In order to form a band, we need to decide not only who will be in charge of the instruments, but also who will be in charge of accounting, public relations, and other behind-the-scenes stuff.”
“As expected of Kingo ! Experienced band member ! My idol !”

“I’d like to choose a name for the band first ! Raise your hand if you have a candidate. Yes, I have a suggestion !”
It’s turning into a monologue by Ari san !?
The tension is rising to the ceiling and getting crazy.
“Then, what is your suggestion, Ari san?”
“It’s [Hokusei Sisters] !”
[ [ [Rejected.] ] ]
“Why !?”
Me, Ryoko and Miusmi senpai unanimously reject it.
Because…..it’s lame.
“There’s one guy in the mix.”
It’s me. The name was not only lame, but also had a lot of things to be pointed out.
“How about [Hokusei Sisters with Kingo] then?”
“It’s like I’m participating in a collaboration !?”
A one-time collab?
“In the first place, [Hokusei Sisters] sounds provincial and cheap.”
This is Ryoko’s opinion. Whether or not they are provincial, there is too much emphasis on locality, and they seem to be like local idols.
“How about [Hokusei City Sisters] then?”
It doesn’t seem to be a matter of just putting it in English. I mean, do you really want to name it Hokusei? I didn’t know you had such a strong love for locals.
“Even in a band, sisters are a bit…..”
This is Misumi senpai. She doesn’t share the reason for naming it [sisters[ as well as [Hokusei[.
“T-then, what about [Hokusei University Students]?”
“Translated literally, [The Students of Hokusei University]?”
We are no longer a band. We are just current students.
“How about adding more symbols of our sentiments and the things we want to say?”
“It’s like a simple expression of our personality and the band’s colors.”
“Maybe we could take a common word and make it unique.”
Ari san was busy jotting down our advice on the whiteboard.
“If it’s tacky, it won’t attract fans.”
“Even if it looks good on the surface, it should not be hard to call.”
“If it’s long, it should be easy to abbreviate.”
“You’ve got a good point there, Senpai ! If you use an abbreviation, it makes you more familiar with the name. If it’s long, it’s better to use an abbreviation that’s easier to abbreviate. So, Ari san, please use a name that is cool, easy to call, and easy to abbreviate.”
“Ughhhh ! !”
She howled ! Ari san howled !
Her long hair with red inner color stands on its head, burning like a flame. She is about to be awakened by anger.
“Please don’t make so many demands at once ! I’m the type of person who thinks things over quietly ! I don’t come out of nowhere when I’m suddenly dumped in the middle with a lot of noise !”
Oh no. She was rejected at the outset, and then she was confronted with a new demand, and she got a flat tire. I feel bad.
“I’m sorry, Ari chan. I demand too much, don’t I?”
Senpai leaned in close and comforted the tearful Ari san. Ari san sniffed and clung to Misumi senpai’s body. With a tearful sound, she sunk her face into the Senpai’s tawdry chest.
Oh, Ari san’s small face sinks.
“R-right. Well, it’s not something we’re in a hurry to decide on, so we’ll think about it later. But we wanted to give you a good name, so please understand that. Don’t call it a noise. It’s not-noise.”
Ryoko followed with words of concern.
The feeling is the same for all of us.
If you’re just joining us for the sake of socializing, we don’t care what our name is. It doesn’t matter if we don’t have one. The only reason we have an opinion about the name of the band is because we have a budding sense of being a part of the band.
That opinion is not a noise. Not a noise.
Hmm?
“Not Noise !”
I felt an electric current in my brain, and I shouted out in a crazy voice.
“Yes, it’s not-noise. I thought I was being constructive.”
“No, Ryoko. How about [Not Noise] for our band name? [Nonoi]….for short !”
Two words, short, and the abbreviation is pleasant to the ear. And the fact that it has a word for sound in it is also a point.
“Our music is not a noise. It is the voice of our hearts telling what we feel now. What do you think about that, Ari san?”
It is a good name that is pleasant to the ear and has a symbolic meaning, even though it just popped into my head.
Ari san looked up from Misumi senpai’s chest and pondered with her mouth in a heap.
“W-well, that’s good, isn’t it? I’ll make it my first choice. It’s not that I don’t like Not Noise, you know ! I’m only listening because it’s Kingo’s opinion !”
What kind of tsundere is that !?
“I’m going to keep the band name [Not Noise] for the time being. But if we come up with a better one by the end of the month, we’ll compare it with that one and think about it.”
Ari san rewrote the words on the whiteboard as [Not Noise Meeting] and looked at it seriously, her cheeks relaxing. She seemed to like it somehow.
Later on, no one suggested an alternative band name, so our band was decided to be [Not Noise].
