Episode 6 – Reunion and concealment

“You know what? I haven’t told Lepios and Carla that Sol woke up yet. I wanted to surprise them.”

Celes said before heading to the meeting place. Sol was surprised to see Celes’ mischievous expression, which he did not usually see, but he thought it was genuinely amusing.

Sol was by nature a character that everyone liked. So, Sol thought, if he knew that Sol was feeling better, they would be surprised, but also happy. Even though he was only simulating “Sol’s” life, he was happy that he was alive and happy.

It was a short walk to the bridge where they were to meet. Just like the familiar warp function in video games, anyone can easily move around in this world with the transfer magic, which is only available in the life magic class. Furthermore, warp in games was limited to major spots such as towns and dungeons, but in this world, as long as you have visited a place once, you can move anywhere by recalling its features.

There are limitations, of course. Transition magic would not be triggered in places with roofs, even if they were semi-outdoors, nor could one go to places with roofs. Unfortunately, it is impossible to accidentally transfer to a room where someone is changing clothes.

When Sol and Celes arrived at the rendezvous point, Lepios and Carla were already there. Sol’s breath caught in his throat as he wondered how they would react to the fact that they had not yet noticed Sol.

“Finally. I’m glad we finally got in touch, but why are we meeting in a place like this …… instead of in the city? …….”

Lepios, who had started to speak thinking that Celes had arrived, opened his eyes wide when he saw him. Carla’s reaction was a little different from what Sol had expected, though. They both looked at Sol as if they could not believe what they were seeing.

“Celes ……! You can’t be ……!”

“Hey, listen! Sol finally woke up! You two must have been worried about Sol for a long time. See? He’s just as good as ever!”

Celes interrupted Lepios and said. Lepios’ eyes seemed to blame Celes, and Sol sensed that he was not welcome.

Originally, the cracks between friends caused by the miasma were depicted in the original story as something that could be overcome. Sol thought that perhaps Celes had just gotten over it. If there was still some of the noxious air inside him, Sol’s mere presence here would have been uncomfortable for Lepios and Carla.

“Oh, um, ……. If you’re uncomfortable with me being here, I’ll go somewhere else. ……”

With that, Sol stepped away from Lepios and Carla.

“You don’t have to force yourself! Ah, but maybe it’s because of Lepios’ recovery magic that I can move so energetically? If that’s the case, thank you!”

At the very least, Sol spun Sol-like words with a Sol-like smile. He might be cursed again for being creepy. But that was something he had prepared for when he came to this world and decided on his mission.

But no matter how long he waited, no one called him names. Sol looked at both of them curiously. Lepios still had a furrowed brow, while Carla ran toward Sol with tears in her eyes.

“Sol ……? You’re Sol, aren’t you ……!”

With that, Carla jumped on Sol with all her might.

“Eh……? No, I’m me, though…..?”

“It’s Sol. ……! Sol is alive……! He’s moving……! He’s talking……!　I can touch Sol……!”

Sol was momentarily perplexed by the sudden over-the-top response from Carla. But that puzzlement is relegated to another place.

Carla is a girl, only because she is mistaken for a boy. The only reason for this is that she has no breasts, and from Sol’s point of view, she is a girl no matter how you look at her. The fact that she has no breasts makes her whole body close to Sol’s, and he involuntarily stiffened.

“Carla! Sol is in trouble!”

“It’s okay, it’s just a moment like this! Sol is alive!”

Ah, if he had been reincarnated as the protagonist of a harem-type story, would he have felt this way? While thinking about this, Sol understood that this was not that kind of situation, and that this was not that kind of game. So, Sol managed to desperately search for the right words to say.

Carla smiled, even as tears streamed down her cheeks. But it soon faded and she turned her head and rubbed her head against Sol’s chest.

“I’ve been wanting to apologize for a long time. I’ve said so many horrible things to Sol. I hurt him a lot. I thought I would never see you again without being able to say I’m sorry. I’m sorry I said so many horrible things to you.”

“I don’t care about that! I was a little surprised! I’m happy if I can be an idiot with Carla again. ……”

“Really? You really forgive me ……?!”

“Forgiveness is nothing, I’m not mad at you! Don’t cry like that!”
　
Sol said as he patted Carla on the head. Sol realized that he was worrying not only Celes but also Carla more than he had imagined. He thought Sol was a beloved character, but at the same time he felt a little sorry for making her cry so much.
　

Another footstep approached Sol.

“Let me tell you something. I am really sorry. I know these words are only self-satisfying. ……”

Lepios also gave Sol a silent hug. He was a little sad that a man had gotten mixed up in the harem, but those feelings disappeared as soon as he saw the look on Lepios’ face.

Lepios is a character who basically shows little emotion. Even Lepios looked at Sol with red eyes and tears in them.

“What’s wrong with you, even Lepios? I really don’t care! I’m sure I’ve been selfish in some ways, too ……”

Sol said cheerfully and scratched his head.

Sol himself didn’t think that what was said when he was under the influence of the miasma was at all faultless, even if it was excessive. Especially when he forcibly took them to the leveling spot, he thought theywould have gotten angry even without the effects of the miasma.

The selfishness Sol came up with was on that level. And they decided that it was mutual, and it was time to enjoy our new adventure.

“Yes. I certainly have a lot to say to you again, now that you’ve cooled down.”

But then Lepios lifted his glasses. His face seemed to be smiling, but his eyes were not. Sol took a step back, his reaction unexpected.

“For example, what you’ve been doing secretly behind our backs”

With these words, Sol finally understood why the three of them had apologized to him without questioning his suddenly vanished disgust.

Hey, maybe they know everything ……?

The moment he thought that, Sol wanted to run away from this place right now.
