Yay! I’m feeling better now~!
Feeling better and summer vacation started—it’s all good news.
Before my rebirth, every day felt like summer vacation, so I never appreciated it. But now I realize how precious a student’s summer break really is.
If every day was yakiniku, you’d get sick of yakiniku, right? To appreciate yakiniku, you gotta eat other stuff too.
…That salt-dressed cabbage at yakiniku places is seriously delicious, you know? Anyone else get hooked on that? Also, bibimbap! I absolutely love that! That moment when you mix it all up and take that first bite is just irresistible. And cold noodles are great too. Cold noodles eaten with metal chopsticks are in a league of their own.
…What were we talking about again?
Well, anyway, the point is: when you go to a yakiniku place, eat something besides meat! Yakiniku is the best!
Today we’re gathering in the club room to decide our summer vacation activities. I really shouldn’t be here, but thanks to that guy Moriguchi Hiroto—famous for changing the original story—I ended up becoming a club member…
Well, maybe it’s for the best since I can assist in making Saotome and the heroine hit it off.
Working behind the scenes to support Saotome and the heroine is pretty cool, right? And guys like that always rank high in popularity polls. They’re the type who get more popular than the protagonist.
Enough already, right? Saotome gets to flirt with the heroines anyway. It’s fine for me to be popular, right?
Who’ll take second place? …Probably a head-to-head with Saotome’s sister, huh?
I’ll be waiting at the top.
Shota Mizuno is hated by Saotome’s sister, so he might get rejected for second place.
Huh? Wait a sec. Am I hated way too much? I’m already disliked by Niiro and Hisada-chan, and now I’m hated by Saotome’s sister I’ve never even met?
Whatever! I came to this world to meet my grandmother, not to be liked by girls!
haaa… I want to be popular…
It’s hot. Since I just slept in a cool room yesterday, it feels even hotter outside.
Is this real? It’s pretty unbelievable. It’s so hot I wish someone would tell me it’s a lie, even now.
Won’t it suddenly turn to winter with a “Tette-re♪” sound? Is the Earth tricking me?
Watching the sweat running down from my forehead to my chin dry instantly on the ground makes me think such silly things.
I haven’t even entered the school gate yet, but I can already hear the baseball club. I can’t believe they’re practicing outside in this heat. I really respect them. Maybe I’ll watch it this year.
“Heyyy~!”
I hear that voice from yesterday behind me. I don’t even need to turn around to see the face. I know this voice belongs to the protagonist of Tokidoki, right?
“Oh, hey~”
“Feeling better?”
“Thanks to you, I’m feeling great!”
I was feeling the heat just a moment ago, but I put on a cheerful act because I didn’t want him to worry if I looked miserable. This guy’s sweating buckets like always, yet he’s so refreshing.
“You catch colds easily, yet you recover just as fast.”
“I can’t tell if my body’s strong or weak.”
“Yeah.”
Why does his sweat seem like it would smell good? What’s the difference between me and him?
“Wonder what we’ll do for summer break activities.”
“Well, we’re the Occult Research Club, so obviously haunted spot tours.”
“Is haunted spot touring really the standard activity for an Occult Research Club?”
“What else are we supposed to do?”
Guess there’s no national tournament for Occult Research Clubs. Can’t be helped.
“True.”
Clatter
“Good morning.”
“Morning.”
The other three were already waiting in the Occult Research Club room.
This feeling of the three heroines waiting for me is really nice. Just seeing this makes joining this club worth it.
“You’re feeling better, huh?”
“Yes. Thank you.”
Man, the club room is nice and cool.
Well, it’s thanks to my hard work that we got to keep this clubroom. Gotta make sure to mention that.
It was thanks to my genius flash of insight back then that we beat the Game Club. Who else would’ve thought of the word “chess” in that last-minute pinch? No one else, that’s for sure.
I kinda think I deserve a little more praise, but I guess it got swept under the rug because so much else happened that day. …Kind of sad.
“Woo-hoo! I’m back in action!”
I flash a peace sign and show off my energy to Niiro and Hisada-chan. I did it right in front of them because I hated how uninterested they seemed in my energy.
“…Annoying.”
“…Tch.”
Same cold reaction as always. Well, I guess it sucks when someone you dislike comes back all energetic.
Too bad! I’ll keep showing up full of energy whether you like it or not!
“Alright, everyone’s here. Let’s start the roundtable meeting.”
“Yes.”
“The topic for today’s roundtable meeting is… summer vacation activities.”
“Ooh~!”
I’d feel bad if there was no reaction, so I hyped it up for now. Fumi-senpai didn’t need to be so full of herself either. If she’d just acted normal, I wouldn’t have had to react at all.
“Assistant! Bring the whiteboard!”
“Hey!”
Honestly, I wondered who Assistant was, but Fumi-senpai and I locked eyes intensely, so I figured I must be Assistant.
I’m happy to be Fumi-senpai’s Assistant. If it’s Fumi-senpai, I’d be honored to be put to work.
…But you don’t just want me to run errands, right? …Right?
“Here you go!”
“Thanks.”
…It might just be menial work.
“Summer break will basically involve indoor discussions on various topics, with a bit of gaming thrown in.”
I write “Discussions” and “Gaming” on the whiteboard.
You might think this is unnecessary, but writing it down sets the mood, so it’s definitely better to write it.
“Excuse me. What will the discussions be about?”
Niiro fires off a question.
“We decide the discussion topics on the spot, so I can’t say for sure right now.”
I know. We’ll definitely only play games.
Because this club room has enough games you’d think it’s a gaming club.
“Hey! Ask one more weird question and you’re out of here.”
“…Huh?”
Don’t bother Fumi-senpai too much! It’s short, but you should’ve figured it out by now—this club doesn’t do proper activities.
And yet you go and ask something like that! The club president can’t exactly say it’s just for fun, right?
So I steeled my heart and made Niiro say it without mercy, even though she’s my favorite.
“Sorry. I got a little heated.”
“No, thank you.”
“Huh?”
Niiro seemed unsatisfied with my exchange with Fumi-senpai.
I’ll let it slide this time, but there won’t be a next.
“So basically indoor activities… does that mean you also do things outside?”
And then, my nice assist.
“Yeah. We go out to investigate occult stuff sometimes.”
“Excuse me. What kind of occult investigations do you do?”
“Hey!”
“Calm down!”
I tried to go after Niiro, but Fumi-senpai held me back.
She’s saying we’d get bored if it was only indoors, so let’s go out and have fun. Doesn’t that get through?
“Sorry. I got carried away.”
“It’s fine.”
“So what exactly?”
Niiro still didn’t seem convinced.
“This is where the main event starts.”
“Ehh~ What is it~?”
I knew. I knew, but I deliberately played dumb to build excitement.
“We’re holding a training camp!”
“”“Training camp!?”””
“Ehh~!!”
My first summer vacation since reincarnating had begun.
