I was helping grandma and ended up being late for class. Still, it feels good to do a good deed.
Clatter.
“Just in time!”
I enter the classroom with my arms spread wide like a baseball umpire, signaling “safe.”
“You’re just in time, idiot. Hurry up and take your seat.”
“Yesss.”
I entered the classroom after the bell rang, so I was definitely out. This is obvious even without video review.
“Yes, be quiet. Mizuno, take your seat quickly.”
On my way to my seat, I was talking to my classmates, and when I answered them, I was scolded again.
“We’re going to have an orientation camp next week.”
Here it comes, Hisada-chan’s main event.
“Teacher.”
One of the students raised their hand to ask a question.
“Why next week? It’s already May. I already know everyone’s names and faces.”
I think the purpose of an orientation camp is to get to know the other students in the class.
But it doesn’t make much sense to hold it in May. We’re already friends. We’ve already formed close-knit groups.
“It’s for the school’s convenience.”
The teacher says that, but it’s not for the school’s convenience, it’s for the game’s convenience. If they want to hold an orientation camp after the Niiro event, this is the time to do it.
That’s why, from next year onwards, the orientation camp will be held immediately after enrollment.
“For now, we’re going to hold the camp. Also, form groups of four to six people.”
Here we go again with the group-forming. I hated this so much. I always thought the teacher should just decide randomly. I was always stuck with three options: “Ugh, should I join?” being asked out of consideration, being forced into a group, or skipping it. It was tough. Those who knew in advance could skip it, but sudden ones were hell because you couldn’t skip them.
But this time, I have a best friend (temporarily) and other friends, so I won’t feel the same way I did back then.
In the original story, Saotome, Niiro, Hisada, and I are in the same group, so there’s no need to worry.
I’m a little scared, but what if Niiro rejects me? Of course, there’s a possibility that he’ll reject me because he hates me so much. But I believe it will work out because I have my first friend, Saotome.
“If you can’t form a group, we’ll just assign you to one.”
It hurts, my head hurts.
Why doesn’t the teacher understand how someone without friends feels? If you do that, you’ll be the only one in a close-knit group, and everyone will look at you like you’re a nuisance.
Besides, teachers always say, “If you want friends, just talk to them yourself,” right? But that’s why I’m in trouble in the first place.
“Are you okay?”
The teacher said something so cruel that I ended up holding my head in my hands. The class president sitting next to me noticed and asked if I was okay.
You’re an angel, no, you’re a goddess. You’re even more of a goddess than that goddess.
“I’m fine, I’m fine!”
I gave her a thumbs up to signal that I was okay. I didn’t want to worry the class president, so I forced myself to act like my head didn’t hurt.
“You had a fever until yesterday, right? Let me know if you’re feeling bad.”
“Yeah.”
I feel bad for making her worry so much. Also, I get embarrassed when someone is so kind to me. I can’t even look the class president in the eye anymore.
“Hey, best friend!”
I suddenly put my arm around Saotome’s shoulder from behind, as usual. I’ve noticed that her shoulders are easy to put my arm around lately.
“Of course you’re in the same group as me, right?”
By the way, I’m not saying this because I want to, but because I remember the text from the game. I don’t have that kind of overseas vibe inside me.
“Oh, I have to be with you again?”
“What’s that supposed to mean? You’re actually really happy about it, aren’t you?”
“I’m not happy.”
Saotome, who seems happy despite saying that, must really think of Mizuno as his best friend. Sorry, I’m actually a hikikomori.
“So, how many more people are we inviting? Who are we inviting in the first place?”
It’s already decided, but we have to follow the original story.
If I stare too hard, she’ll notice, so I just glance at Niiro. She’s as cute as ever today, which is a relief. She’s always stunning.
“Hmm… I don’t mind who it is…”
Don’t say that when you already know who it is.
“Then let’s go with Toyama.”
“Oh, yeah… Huh?”
No, who? I know he’s in our class, but who is he? Isn’t it Niiro?
Hey, hey, hey! This insensitive protagonist is doing something that isn’t in the original story again!
“Ah, no way, that guy’s creepy.”
“Hey!”
Toyama’s retort reaches us from afar.
“Then how about Katagiri?”
Come on, now.
“Ah, that guy’s creepy too, so no way.”
“He’s not creepy!”
Katagiri’s retort reaches us from afar again.
“Then how about Yamada?”
Is this guy serious?
“He’s even creepier, so no.”
“Am I the creepiest?”
Yamada seems more confused than critical.
Why doesn’t this guy choose Niiro? I heard her say, “Please be my first friend.” Is that all friendship means to this guy?
Wait a minute. Isn’t this going against the original story again? Do I have to force it back to the original story again?
At this point, Saotome is unreliable. I have to correct it so that it follows the original story.
“Can I invite them?”
“Huh? Is there someone you want to invite?”
What a annoying face.
“I…”
The words stop here.
Should I invite her? Or should I leave it to Saotome? Well, Saotome is the safer choice.
“I want to go with Sarasa chan, so you go invite her.”
“Me? If you want to go with her, then you go.”
“You’re closer to her, so it’s obvious you should go. Come on, go.”
I push Saotome’s back and send him toward Niiro.
Huh… Why does this slight discrepancy occur? You came when it was Hisada-chan’s turn, didn’t you?
“Hey, Niiro…”
“What?”
“It’s about the orientation camp group…”
“Yeah…”
It’s obvious what you’re going to say, but I want you to say it properly.
“We want you to be in the same group as us. How about it?”
This is the original dialogue, so I’m completely lost now. At least decide which one it is. I can’t keep up with which is which.
No, just follow the original story normally. Please.
“…?”
?
For some reason, he doesn’t respond to Saotome’s invitation. This isn’t in the original story. In the original story, he would have responded immediately. He would have leaned forward a little and said, “Sure.”
After remaining silent, he looked at me next.
“Is Mizuno in that group?”
Me? Why?
That’s not in the original story either!
…I see. She hates me so much that she doesn’t want to be in the same group as me. I guess I’ve lowered her impression of me too much.
It’s a little sad that she doesn’t even want to be in the same group as me. It’s painful to be hated by the person I like. How many times do I have to suffer today?
“Yes, he is.”
Sigh, what should I do? If I don’t join, the original story will change again. I want to follow the original story.
Well, maybe I should just leave. I don’t think it will make much difference if I leave. The important thing is that Saotome, Niiro, and Hisada are in the same group. In that case, maybe I can leave and put in a mob character who doesn’t stand out, and if I support them, it might just work.
“Then I’ll join.”
“Oh, then there’s one more person.”
…?
Then I guess I’ll join? …No, what do you mean?
Niiro doesn’t dislike me, but she doesn’t like me either, so she asked if I was in the group. I understood that much. he told her that I was in the group, so she’ll join.
…No, what do you mean?

Minor edit -it says ‘he’ sometimes in the middle of the story when talking about Niiro, but Niiro is a lady, so it should be ‘she’ every time it talks about her. Not sure if that’s something that can be fixed now this late into the game?
