A week has passed since then.
Originally, that week was supposed to be the end of our trial cohabitation.
Limited time. A trial run. A temporary arrangement.
Or so it should have been.
“There’s no way we’d leave, right?”
“This place is awesome!”
As expected, or rather, just as I thought.
It seems a future where they both left after a week never existed from the start.
Before I knew it, their belongings grew a little each day, and the room for streaming had somehow become more soundproof.
It felt so natural, so effortless,
it almost seemed like this was the plan all along.
Honestly, for me too, after we’d become physically intimate,
I couldn’t just say, “Okay, the time’s up, go home now.”
I wasn’t that detached.
And it was true that I felt somewhat more at ease being with her than alone.
The first few days were unsettling in every way.
Everything bothered me.
But after a week, people get used to things.
They get too used to them.
Mei-chan, just like Risa said, was perfect at housework.
Cleaning, laundry, noticing every little detail.
And she was proactive, leaving no room for me to take over.
On the other hand, Risa hardly ever helped with housework, but when she was home, she was glued to me.
The distance between us felt… close.
Even when I was working remotely, Risa would be nearby doing her own work.
She wouldn’t talk to me or get in the way.
She was just… there.
That presence actually calmed me down, so maybe it was already too late.
Also, Risa was really good at massages.
I won’t say what kind of massages.
I won’t say, but as a guy, it was the kind you’re incredibly grateful for.
…I really won’t say.
Anyway, I was basically in charge of cooking.
There was one time I let Mei-chan handle dinner.
“Leave it to me!”
She was unusually eager.
And what she served up was:
・Steak drenched in garlic sauce
・Deep-fried mountain yam
・Spinach tossed with almonds
At the time, I just thought, “Wow, that looks delicious,” without a second thought.
The garlic sauce was sublime. The steak was tender and paired perfectly with the sauce.
The seaweed-coated fried mountain yam was a first for me, but the texture and seaweed flavor surprisingly complemented each other.
The almond-tossed spinach was, of course, delicious too.
The three of us just ate it normally, enjoying it.
Now then.
What happened next—
if you’re sharp, you probably already know.
I won’t say what it was, but I was abnormally energetic.
“…Mei-chan, did you put something in it?”
“Hehe.”
She did it.
Turns out, the dish itself was supposedly nourishing, invigorating, and energizing.
And all three of us had eaten the same thing.
In other words,
it didn’t take long for everyone to reach the same conclusion.
…The result?
I’ll leave that to your imagination.
So, that’s how it happened,
and I ended up being put in charge of cooking.
No one objected.
That was practically the answer itself.
