In the end, the shoot went on until dusk.
Probably because various problems caused delays. It took longer than the originally planned schedule.
Not that it makes up for it, but Manager Ando invited Sakurazaka and Kirishima to a delicious restaurant.
I heard there that Sakurazaka seems to have accepted a scouting offer from Ando.
“Well, I’m not sure if I’m up to it… but I’ll do my best!”
She seems to think this is a chance to improve her personality.
After discussing the terms with her parents, she’ll formally sign the contract.
And so, that day ended, and the next day came for school. Classes finished as usual—
“I see, so that’s what happened.”
Shiori murmured, flipping through the documents in the file as she read them.
The student council room bathed in crimson sunlight. The sight of her gazing down at the papers while illuminated by the sunset was picturesque, or something like that.
I recently learned she wears glasses when doing paperwork or computer work.
She had them on now too, and the contrast with her usual look honestly drew my gaze repeatedly.
“Well, I guess we’ll never know if it actually counted as a date or not.”
She said this while putting away the towering pile of files.
Helping with student council work was fine, but the amount felt unusually large since earlier.
Where were the others? This was their job, wasn’t it?
“Hehe, the accident started because of her work, didn’t it, Kurusu-san? You don’t need to worry about it, Irie-san.”
“…Is that so?”
“Well, I say that, but… I’m sure she enjoyed it too, Kurusu-san. Spending time with someone you like, having them follow along without complaint even after you selfishly interrupted things… As a girl, there’s no way you wouldn’t be happy about that.”
Is that so? I hope so, but I’m just not used to dates, so I can’t shake this unease.
“Still, I do have concerns… but this isn’t something I can do anything about.”
“Huh?”
“Hehe, nothing at all.”
Shiori-san flashed her usual demure smile.
I felt like I’d been dodged… but I wouldn’t press further. If she wasn’t saying anything, it probably meant the time wasn’t right yet.
“Heyyy!”
Just then.
The student council room door burst open.
Peering through the gap was the figure of my childhood friend, looking somewhat weary.
“Shi-chan-senpai, I took the documents to the teacher’s office!”
“Hehe, thank you.”
Yuzuki closed the door and immediately approached Shiori.
Then, a hug from behind… Shiori gently strokes her head… What is this? I’m incredibly jealous. I wish I could switch places with her.
“Thank you both so much. I really appreciate you helping out even though you’re not part of the student council.”
“That’s no problem at all, but where are the rest of the student council members? Even a sheltered young lady who can’t hold chopsticks wouldn’t abandon her short-term duties, right?”
“I doubt a sheltered young lady would be doing any work in the first place. The other student council officers are currently meeting with people in the neighborhood. Since the cultural festival requires help from outside the school, they’re reaching out to them.”
Oh, I see. That’s why they’re not here.
Wait… could all these papers also be related to the cultural festival?
“If it’s a request from Shii-chan-senpai, we’re always happy to help! But in return, you have to hang out with us next time!”
“Hehe, of course! Having such a cute junior take a liking to me… it kinda boosts my self-esteem. Makes me feel like a dependable senior♪”
I don’t think there’s anyone more dependable than Shiori-san… but this playful side is probably part of her charm too.
“Speaking of which, what are you two planning for the festival?”
“Huh? What?”
“Wait, we haven’t even discussed it as a class yet?”
It’s about time we did, but our class hasn’t gotten around to it yet.
Last year we did a haunted house, so I’d like something different this year.
“No, not that. I mean individual performances on stage.”
“Ah—”
At our cultural festival, individuals can showcase their own performances.
Since people get to show off whatever they want on the set stage, it apparently gets really lively every year.
In fact, last year it was packed with manzai comedy, band performances, and even a simple joint beauty pageant that took up several people’s time.
“Aren’t you doing anything, Irie-san?”
“Hmm… To be honest, I’m not really interested, you know?”
“Is that so? Irie-san is so talented, I think anything you did would be a hit.”
“I just don’t think my looks or popularity would get anyone excited.”
If someone like Shiori-san or Yuzuki took the stage, it’d be different.
Ideally, they’d hold the beauty pageant again this year and have those two participate… If it’s a pageant, they’d definitely wear clothes they wouldn’t normally wear. That’s how it was last year.
…I’ll just casually submit an application form later.
“Tsukkun, what are you saying!? You can’t say you’re not interested!”
Just as I was thinking that, Yuzuki suddenly yelled at me in a loud voice. Strange, since I only thought it to myself.
“Huh? I did say I wasn’t interested, but that was only in other people’s performances, not in me participating myself—”
“Tsukkun’s participating too, you know!?”
Whoa, this is news to me.
“This year we’re all in a band! We’re gonna rock out with guitar, bass, piano, and drums—showing off our shining youth!”
“…What have you been watching lately?”
“Bocchi the Rock!”
This girl is just… really something.
“I bought a bass recently and I’ve been practicing hard, you know! Look at me!”
“You’re spending way too much on impulse buys.”
“…I’m paying my dad back in seven-year installments.”
Poor thing… Will she still be living in debt even after graduating college?
Even if dhe is my childhood friend, I can’t seem to help her with money problems.
“I really wanted to invite Ku-chan too, but she’s probably busy with work…!”
Before that, I wish she’d consider the childhood friend right in front of her.
“Well, putting Yuzuki’s nonsense aside—”
“Huh? You’re not participating!?”
“I’ll submit the application for the individual performances later.”
“Oh? So you do plan to do something after all?”
Shiori-san tilted her head cutely.
In response, I smiled and opened my mouth.
“A swimsuit beauty contest for the entire student council—”
“Understood. I’ll dispose of it as soon as it arrives.”
“What!?”
Why… I thought it was fine since we did it last year too.
Otherwise, I won’t get to see Shiori-san and Yuzuki in swimsuits… I just want to see them in swimsuits as a guy… Dammit!
“(If you’d just asked, I would’ve personally worn one for you… Honestly, Irie-san is such a troublemaker, dragging others into this too).”
“(Huh, you were trying to see other people’s swimsuits!? Wait, I’ll show you mine too!)”
As I collapsed to my knees, I suddenly heard the two of them murmuring something.
I couldn’t make out what they were saying, but the shock was greater than I expected, and I couldn’t bring myself to ask them to repeat it.
…Tomorrow, I’ll ask Ikuto to enter in my place.
