Then I played a few more questions.
It was fun how they came up evenly.
When Hokkaido came up, I thought, “Hokkaido is way too big.”
If anyone’s thinking about a whirlwind trip, seriously, don’t do it.
Don’t underestimate things like it taking an hour from Asahikawa to Obihiro.
Anyone thinking they can circle Hokkaido in a day should also give up.
It’s just too big.
Since the question had a lot of viewers, the comment section actually had quite a few correct answers.
But Mei-chan’s knowledge was also insane.
“This looks like Hokkaido… Hokkaido has vast land, and the roads are flat and straight. See those poles along the top of the road? Those are called 【snow poles】, markers to make the road edges visible.”
Looking it up, I found out they’re common in heavy snow areas, and apparently the colors vary by region.
Living in Kyushu, I’m clueless about all this stuff.
“Conversely, this looks like Okinawa Prefecture. The sea is beautiful, and the buildings are sturdy concrete structures. As you know, it’s likely for typhoon resistance. The sea in Okinawa is lovely too.”
Whoa, she’s getting all dreamy-eyed.
Okinawa’s nice too, huh.
I’ve been to Okinawa before.
I was shocked when I saw habu snake sake in person.
And root beer. That’s tasty. Smells like a medicinal plaster though.
“Bus stop shapes are pretty distinctive. Round ones are common in Kanto, while square enclosures seem more prevalent in Kansai and Chubu. I’ve heard the San’in region uses wooden structures.”
Just how much does Mei-chan know?
Is she good at geography?
(Mei-chan’s knowledge is insane lol)
(Exactly lol. We’re barely scraping by reading comments, but she’s spouting trivia effortlessly.)
(Mei-chan could be on a stalker squad.)
(She already is, dude.)
(True, I guess.)
Hey comment section, don’t say scary stuff.
You’ve never done anything that would make Mei-chan ID you, right?
“I’ve answered quite a few, so let’s wrap it up with the last two questions. Thank you to everyone on Lunight for commenting on delicious foods and recommended spots. Alright, let’s go.”
Honestly, all the gourmet food comments are making me hungry.
It’s past 10 PM, but this is bad. It’s turning into food porn.
Well, I’m having gyoza tonight.
I’m a ponzu sauce kind of guy.
“That’s a streetcar, right? Plus, the utility poles are a bit thick… and there’s a slope. This one’s easy to spot.”
Oh, this is that place! I go there sometimes!
Totally get it!!
“I know this! It’s Nagasaki!! My hometown!”
“Fufu, thanks for the comment, Rai-san. Since only a few prefectures have streetcars, it narrows things down. Plus, the streetcar was yellow and green, so I knew for sure.”
Yeah, exactly.
And there are way too many hills for bikes or anything.
Narrowing it down by the streetcar is impressive.
“This is the urban area of Nagasaki Prefecture, but if you go a bit north, you’ll see islands dotted around.”
I think I heard somewhere that if you straightened out all those winding curves, it’d be about the size of Hokkaido. Or maybe I didn’t.
That’s vague.
“That was correct. Thanks to you, Rai-san, I figured it out.”
“Wow, I’m amazed by your knowledge, Mei-chan. That’s incredible.”
“Oh, no, it’s nothing. I also gained a lot from this.”
Gained?
“It’s past our scheduled time, so I’ll wrap things up now. Thanks to you, tonight’s moon was beautiful too. Well then.”
She waved flutteringly, and the stream ended.
That was a pretty abrupt ending.
Unusual for Mei-chan.
Ah, whatever.
Time for gyoza.
I hadn’t realized I was being slowly cornered.
