I think I stumbled upon her livestream purely by accident.
Working in IT, I usually do remote work, but that day I had tasks requiring me to go into the office, so I didn’t get home until after 9 PM.
“Ugh, so tired…”
I really hate having to go in for troubleshooting (cry).
Company calls are such a pain.
“First, dinner…”
I took a quick shower and came back to the living room half-naked. I couldn’t be bothered to cook.
Guess I’ll just have to eat some instant cup udon.
“Wait five minutes, wait five minutes, wait five minutes, yay~♪”
This is why I’m glad I live alone—I can get away with weird stuff like this.
To kill time, I opened the search bar thinking I’d watch YouTube.
Lately I’d been watching VTuber videos, streams, and clips, so the recommendations were all related to that.
Most were familiar corporate VTubers or famous individual ones, but maybe I messed up the search terms this time—I’d searched by latest uploads.
“Ah, messed up. I set the search to latest upload date. Oh well.”
Scrolled randomly, clicked randomly.
‘No one~ has come~ for 30 minutes now♪’
What is that apocalyptic voice…
Despite the calm, soothing tone, what came through was a despairing original song.
Feeling kinda sorry for her, and thinking it might kill time, I decided to watch.
“Ah, viewer 1! Are you watching!!!”
She started swaying side to side wildly.
She must have been incredibly happy, grinning away.
“Hmph, she must have been really lonely.”
I casually decided to leave a comment.
“Good evening. I came over while waiting for Don〇e.”
‘Waaah, a comment too!! Haaah, I can stop now.’
“Wait, wait, wait, wait! You came all this way!!!”
Seeing her voice sound like she was about to ascend to heaven, I hurriedly commented.
‘How kind of you… Actually, this was my first stream. There are so many VTubers, I never thought anyone would come watch.’
True… I thought.
It’s the VTuber Warring States period now.
Unless you’re affiliated with a company, you can’t build a large audience. Even as an independent creator, unless you collaborate with big names or have something truly unique, it’s tough to grow your subscriber count.
This might be why so many people who try to become VTubers end up giving up, not just her.
If I tweeted something like this, I’d probably get slammed for talking like I know everything, so this is just my opinion.
That’s probably why everyone aims for the big players.
There’s also the simple desire to just talk.
As I was thinking that.
‘Ugh, ugh. No comments…’
Huh? She sounds like she’s about to cry.
“Ah, sorry, I was lost in thought.”
‘I thought you were here to troll… I’m glad…’
“So today’s your first stream? Did you plan to do something special?”
‘No, I just wanted to say hello… but no one came…’
Oh, she’s about to cry again.
“Oh! Then I’ll be your very first fan!”
I hurriedly subscribed to her channel, and this time, her movements froze.
‘Huh?’
“Eh?”
“Waaah, someone subscribed to my channel!”
She ended up crying after all…
“I don’t think that’s something to cry about…”
‘No, no! It’s just… this is my first time doing so many things, and I was so happy. I was actually thinking of quitting streaming and giving up on being a VTuber altogether.’
That’s a heavy decision!!
Her voice is so calming, it’d be a waste to let it fade away…
“That’s a shame… I was planning to come whenever you streamed from now on.”
‘I’ll be streaming again next time too~’
I don’t really wanna say it, but she’s a pretty interesting girl.
We kept chatting for about 30 minutes after that.
Ah, D〇be?
It was totally wiped out.
