Episode 16 – You seem to have red eyes. What’s wrong?

“After all, a sleepover night is all about love, isn’t it?”
“I’m curious about what Ryoya kun has to say.”

After a while after getting out of the bath, Reona and Riona suddenly started talking like that. But it’s a bit of a stretch to ask me, a loner in the shadows, to talk about love.

“……No, no, there is nothing I can talk about even if you ask me to talk about my love life.”
“I already know that you are a virgin and have never had a girlfriend, but you must have had a first love, right?”
“I want you to tell me what it was like.”

The two girls were so interested in the story that it was impossible for me to choose not to talk about it.

“My first love was a childhood friend who lived in the house next door to mine when I was in the sixth grade of elementary school. I had a one-sided love for a while, but when I was in the second year of junior high school, she got a boyfriend, so it ended without incident.”

I often see stories about childhood friends who develop a love affair, but it must not be very realistic. While I was thinking about this, Riona opened her mouth.

“It’s quite common for the first love to be a childhood friend, although unfortunately they don’t always tie the knot.”
“That’s true, isn’t it? A childhood friend is just a familiar face from childhood and there is not much more special than that.”

I answered that I was in full agreement with Riona’s words. Then Reona interrupted me with a somewhat proud look on her face.

“By the way, my mom and dad have known each other since childhood.”

I was surprised at this unexpected statement. I had thought that marriages between childhood friends were quite rare, so I had not expected to find one so close to me.

“Dad and Mom still look like a newlywed couple.”
“That’s why me and Riona are a little embarrassed.”
“I thought they seemed to get along really well, but I didn’t know if it was that much ……”

Reona and Riona’s age probably means that Kaido san and Ellen san got married about 20 years ago, but I wonder if they can stay in love for such a long period of time.
I had such a question arising in me, but since they look so much like a newlywed couple, there may be some secret to their love affair.

“I think it’s unfair to only let Ryoya-kun talk about it, and now we’ll talk about it.”
“…… No, I don’t mind if I don’t hear it.”

To be honest, I didn’t want to hear about their first love. I’m in a complete one-sided love with Reona and Riona right now. I don’t think they would want to hear about their first love. However, contrary to my thoughts, they started to talk.

Then Reona and Riona talk one-sidedly about their first love. Apparently, they had fallen in love with the same person and it was ongoing, and they were talking about it with happy faces.
At first, I was hoping somewhere in the back of my mind that that partner might actually be me, but hearing Reona’s words about how insanely cool she is made me face a harsh reality.
I couldn’t stand the fact that their love was directed at someone I didn’t know, not me, and I began to cry more and more.

“…… sorry, I have to go to the bathroom.”
“Okay.”
“Have a good trip.”

After leaving the room, I went into the bathroom and started to cry, my voice muffled. I’ve had many one-sided loves and heartbreaks in my life, but this is the first time it’s been this painful.

Reona asked me why, and I made up a reasonable reason. Then Riona offered me a plastic bottle of juice.

“I think your voice is a little dry too. Why don’t you drink this, Ryoya?”
“Thank you.”

I took the bottle without thinking and drank the contents in one gulp. And then I started to listen to the rest of their first love talk, and gradually I started to get sleepy.

“…… Ryoya-kun, you look pretty sleepy, are you okay?”

The other day, I was in Riona’s room, and I felt like I was suddenly sleepy, but my consciousness was gradually fading away.

“It’s not good for your health to push yourself too hard. Why don’t you go to sleep tonight?”
“Riona and I will take care of the cleanup and stuff,”
“Thank you……, that’s really helpful.”

I was near my limit, so I thanked them both and then lay down on the bed and just let go of my consciousness.
