At Reisa’s words, Nagisa and I left the cafeteria.

We went down the hallway, changed into shoes at the entrance, and went out to the backyard.

When we came to the “sacred place of confession” between the school buildings, Reisa let out a sigh.

“Amakusa san. No, Nagisa. You can’t have an important talk in a place like that, can you?”

“It was indeed very crowded, and the stares were so intense that it was hard for me to talk.”

“Haa. I think you need to think more about your influence.”

As Reisa boasts, I give her a stare.

I wonder what the guy who called out to her so boldly in the classroom and then chased her around was saying.

Still, it’s true that Reisa and Nagisa have different levels of influence.

“So, what are we talking about?”

“I would like to ask Edano kun if he could teach me English.”

“Hmmm.”

Reisa stared at Nagisa, her face contorted in disapproval.

“I can teach you English. After all that, I’ll show you that I’m a returnee.”

Perhaps upset at the mention of failing the exam, Reisa started to say that, and Nagisa looked at me with a troubled expression.

Then I ask Reisa.

“But I’m sure you failed English as well?”

“I-I’m studying English for the entrance exams ! I’m just a little weak at it ! But that’s all ! I think there are things I can teach Nagisa !”

“…You lived in Paris until last year, right? It’s not an English-speaking country.”

“Uugh ! You did a lot of research?”

“It’s famous.”

Reisa is getting more and more out of shape.

But I didn’t expect this guy to want to teach others.

One has to admire her mental strength for offering to be the teacher tasa student who regularly fails.

If only she didn’t have a desperate look on her face.

“B-but I can converse in English? If it’s everyday conversation……barely.”

“Just barely not good enough.”

“Hey, Tsukushi !?”

Reisa exclaimed, as if to say that she was offended.

Well, joking isn’t going to get us anywhere, so let’s shut up for now.

I turned to Nagisa and opened my mouth.

“There’s only a little over a week left until the exam. How should I teach you?”

“I would be happy if you could give me some of your time after school if possible.”

“That’ll be fine. However, I’m not sure I can live up to your expectations.”

My English grade is 80% on average.

I used to get close to perfect scores, but recently my scores have been steadily declining.

That’s why I’ve been trying to watch a lot of foreign movies so that I can deal with unfamiliar words, and I’ve been trying to check a few movies every day.

Thanks to that, I’m just starting to be able to understand without subtitles a little.

Streaming services are very easy to use.

It’s the only entertainment I could get while I couldn’t buy games, etc.

“Which are you worse at, reading or listening?”

“I’m not good at both, but if I had to say, I’d say I’m better at listening.”

“I’ll tell you what I usually do for practical practice. I want you to do that at home every day. Then it will come naturally—what is it?”

“Why are you giving her advice so naturally? That would only be a disadvantage to Tsukushi who is aiming for first place !”

I realized after being told.

True.

I want to get as good a ranking as possible for my future.

Of course, the final competition is different, but it’s all about maintaining motivation.

Thinking about it like that, it honestly wouldn’t be right to reveal my hand and throw salt at the genius who is currently in second place.

However, when I am asked to help, I want to help.

I was exploited a lot by my childhood friend because of this personality, but it seems that I, a human being, never learn.

Reisa held up her index finger to Nagisa and showed it to her.

“Nagisa, you have something to thank him for. I also…promised to thank him, okay? Ehehe.”

“Don’t act all embarrassed ! That’s so shady !”

I get angry at Reisa, who is red in the face and fidgeting.

In fact, I haven’t received anything in return from this guy to begin with.

…Well, I don’t really need it.

She already talks to me every day, occasionally gives me sweets, and even the act of teaching her helps me organize my knowledge, so it’s no exaggeration to say that she’s given me a lot.

But that’s it.

Don’t say something that might be misunderstood.

“Y-you’re right. I’ve been thinking about that too. So–if you don’t mind, could I teach you Japanese as a thank you?”

“Eh?”

“I’m always number one in my grade, whether it’s modern Japanese, classical Japanese, or Chinese. So I thought I might be able to help.”

“That’s it !”

I thought it was a good idea.

Then there would be no problem.

I was lucky to be able to study Japanese, which is my weak point, and she was able to study English, which is her weak point, and get closer to first place overall.

It was a win-win situation.

In fact, I feel like I’m getting the better end of the deal.

I’m only in the top half of my grade now.

Nagisa’s eyes flutter a little in surprise, then she immediately smiles softly.

It was such a dainty gesture that I couldn’t help but admire it for a moment.

“Then, it’s decided. I look forward to working with you.”

“Same here.”

Thus began my plan with Nagisa to defeat Takagi.

“…So, what am I supposed to do in the meantime?”
