Episode 18 – I’m sorry, but I don’t want to deal with you any more

Two days had passed since Reona and Riona came to stay with us, and it was the last Monday before the test.
In other words, next week the test would finally be in full swing. I must avoid getting a red mark and having to take a follow-up test or two.
Since Riona had been tutoring me almost all day long on Saturdays and Sundays, I had been able to catch up on my classes during my stay in the hospital. So, if I continue to work hard at this rate, I will probably be able to handle the test this time.

“If it weren’t for Riona, my school days would have been over, and I can only be thankful for that.”
“I’m glad I could be of help to Ryoya, too.”
“Thank you so much, you really helped me out.”

When I said this, Riona, who was eating her lunch next to me, reacted with a slightly happy look on her face. Riona is often thought to be expressionless, but she is not very good at expressing her emotions, and she does have facial expressions.
Recently, I have been able to recognize her facial expressions, little by little. Needless to say, Reona is a twin, so she can tell them apart perfectly.

“Oh, that’s right. After the test is over, let’s have a launch party with me, Riona, and Ryoya-kun.”
“Isn’t that a little too soon for that?”

I was so excited to hear Reona talking like that even though it was still before the test. Then Reona opened her mouth with a happy face.

“Well, if there’s something fun waiting for you after the test, don’t you think you’ll be more motivated?”
“I see ……, you have a point.”

It is true that if there is a fun event waiting for you after the test, it will motivate you.

“Okay, then it’s settled then. Lunch break is almost over, so we can talk about the details on the way home.”
“Okay, I understand.”
“I’m okay with that.”

Reona nodded her head in satisfaction when she heard my and Riona’s reply. We then got up from the step where we were sitting and started walking back to the classroom.

“I’m going to go to the bathroom and then back to the classroom.”
“Okay, I’ll go back first then.”
“Ryoya, I’ll see you later.”

Actually, I didn’t really want to go to the restroom, but if I went back to the classroom with Reona, my classmates might whisper to me about it.

“……Well, people saw us going to school together in the morning today, and I already feel like I’m resisting in vain.”

Like the other day, I was going to school with them again today as they both picked me up from home in the morning.
I tried to leave the house a little early today because it would be quite conspicuous if I went to school with them, but for some reason they came to my house at a very opportune time.
The timing was so perfect that I was wondering if I was being monitored in some way. Well, it would never happen because Reona and Riona have no advantage to keep an eye on me.
With this thought in mind, I went into an empty private restroom, killed some time inside, and returned to the classroom.

“Hey, Yagami. What are you trying to do?”
“…… I have no idea what you mean when you suddenly say something like that.”

As I was about to go to the restroom during the break before the 6th period class started, I was being one-sidedly confronted by Kuramoto outside the classroom. Kuramoto had anger on his face and seemed quite agitated.

“I told you to stay away from Reona-san and Riona-san the other Friday, didn’t I? So why are you following them around in the morning without a care in the world?”

Hearing those words, I understood why Kuramoto was getting involved with me. Kuramoto seemed to have seen me going to school with Reona and Riona in the morning.
However, if he had actually seen it, he would have understood that I was not following them, but I wonder what it looked like in Kuramoto’s eyes.
With this in mind, I calmly answer for the time being.

“I wasn’t following them. I was just going to school with them. ……”
“So there’s no way a guy like you can get Reona san and Riona san to be interested in you. If you’re going to tell a lie, think of a better one.”
“No, no, it’s all true.”

Kuramoto never listens to anything I say. No matter what I said to him, he would always argue with me, which was quite bothersome.
I was getting tired of dealing with him, so I ignored him and tried to go to the bathroom and he grabbed me by my right wrist with all his might.

“Wait a minute, I haven’t finished talking to you yet,”
“If you don’t want to believe what I’m saying, there’s no point in talking for hours. I’m sorry, but I’m not going to deal with you any more.”

I forcefully release his grip on my hand. Not expecting resistance, Kuramoto was frightened for a moment, but soon returned to a bullish expression.

“You’ve got a lot of nerve getting carried away with your shady little habit, I’m going to make you regret it, so be prepared.”

Kuramoto left me with a few words like a weak villain and walked away from me. I soon learned the meaning of those words when I returned to the classroom.
