Episode 16 – Test day, Mother’s backlash

Then came the day of the test.
Breakfast at Otaru’s was quieter than usual.

In the Otaru household, it is a rule that everyone eats breakfast together. My father was away on a business trip, but I, my mother, Yuuri, and Kairi sat down side by side.
Normally, Yuuri, who is the mood maker of the Otaru family, would have a conversation with either Mom or me, but that was not the case today.
Kairi basically never speaks, which is normal, but it was surprising that Yuuri was silent.

Is she so focused on the test that she is silent?

I finished my breakfast while hiding my embarrassment.

After the gentle atmosphere, Mom suddenly put down the chopsticks, picked up the TV remote control and turned it off.

“The other day, I found a used Uppo card worth 10,000 yen in your pants pocket. Since you’re such a firm brother, I wonder if you could explain that to me?”
“Geez, …….”

I knew there was something behind it because she was so complimentary of me. ……

“What did you use it for? Yuto, the firm man?”
“T-that’s …….”

I honestly told her that I had sent a Super chat to V, and of course, Mom was on the wrong end of it.
