Episode 13 – Hey, you two. By any chance, would it bother you if you were with me ……?

“…… something’s really uncomfortable in class.”

It was now the fourth period before recess, and I had taken refuge in the vending machine space because I felt uncomfortable in the classroom. The reason for the uncomfortable feeling is simple: the stares from the people around me are too much.

“Well, I had a feeling that this was going to happen because I’ve been so conspicuous in the last few days,…….”

The reason is that I have been a loner up until now and now I am going to and from school with Reona and Riona, who are the idols of the school. I was not sure how I would not stand out.
The incident in question was the catalyst for my involvement with the two, but we were the only ones who knew about it.
So it must have seemed to those around me as if I suddenly became friends with the girls one day.

“I’m hearing people talking about me behind my back, and it’s really depressing.”

I think it’s understandable that someone you thought was lower than you would suddenly find it uninteresting to have two beautiful girls as your companions, but I didn’t want them whispering about me behind my back.

“Hey, Yagami. Stop following Reona-san and Riona-san around.”

It was a classmate, Sotomichi Kuramoto, who got involved with me. Kuramoto is a guy who wants to be a part of the group with Reona, which is called “kyorotakashi”. ( TL/N : キョロ充 means person who is preoccupied with appearing popular.)

“Um, ……, I don’t think I’m following her around.”

“Don’t lie to me. I know Yagami follows Reona and Riona around in the morning and on the way home.”

Apparently, he made that determination after seeing us on our way to and from school. But if anything, I think it is more correct to say that I am being followed by Reona and Riona because they ambushed me on the way to school and even barged into my house.

“No, no, Reona and Riona are with me of their own volition.”
“They don’t want to be with a loner like you, you’ve got to stop saying random things. And don’t call her by her name. It’s not a name that a guy like you can call her comfortably.”

To be honest, there were a lot of things I wanted to get into, but pointing them out was going to get me into a lot of trouble, so I decided not to.

“Seriously, it’s annoying, so don’t go near Reona-san and Riona-san anymore, understood?”

Kuramoto said one-sidedly and left me.

I asked the two who came to Best Place as usual during lunch break. The two girls looked surprised and opened their mouths.

“Eh, what’s going on all of a sudden?”
“Ryoya, what’s wrong?”
“I started to think that Reiona and Riona might be annoyed because of me. ……”

The two asked me why, and I told them so. The reason for this is that the word “annoyance” that Kuramoto had just mentioned stuck in my mind, so I asked the question. Then the expressions on both of their faces suddenly disappeared.

“Are you saying we are bothered? Both Riona and I are spending time with Ryoya because we want to be with him, and there is clearly no reason for us to feel annoyed. In fact, I’m worried that we might be bothering you. In addition, Ryoya-kun is a more attractive boy than he thinks he is, so he should have more confidence, and then you won’t think that he’s bothering us. ……”
“There is no way I would be bothered by being with him, because I and my sister both trust Ryoya from the bottom of our hearts. It is absolutely ridiculous to think that Ryoya, who saved our lives, is a nuisance. If Ryoya had not been there at that time, we sisters might be dead now, and to be frank, I cannot thank him enough. I’m going to spend the rest of my life returning the favor with my sister, so please be prepared for that. ……”

Reona and Riona started talking about such things very quickly. The sight of them was a little scary, but at the same time I felt relieved to know that they trusted me that much.

“……Okay, I get it now. I guess I was wrong after all.”
“Well, now that Ryoya’s doubts have been resolved, let’s have lunch, shall we? here, for Ryoya-kun”
“The two of us worked very hard from this morning to make it.”

This is the third time the two of them have made me a lunch box, and already I was almost completely gripped by their stomachs. I really envied these girls and their future marriage partners.
Then the three of us start eating our lunches together. Today’s lunch consisted of a wiener, boiled egg, ginger yaki, mini tomatoes, and white rice.
Needless to say, the ketchup on the wiener tasted like iron, but the rest of the food was so delicious that my chopsticks kept going and going.
