After purchasing ingredients at the supermarket, I returned to my apartment and immediately started cooking.

I really enjoy cooking, so even when I’m tired, I can do this without any trouble.

After I had been concentrating on cooking for a while, Nanase came over to me.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’ll help you with something.”

“It’s okay, just sit down.”

Today was my turn to cook, and Nanase must have been pretty tired from her part-time job, so I wanted her to rest.

“I’ve always wanted to cook with you. Is that okay?”

“…It’s not a problem. Will you help me?”

“Yes, of course.”

If she said so, I would take her up on her offer.

Cooking with two people is more efficient than cooking alone.

“So, what should I do?”

“Rinse the rice and put it in the rice cooker. I’ll prepare the meat.”

“Got it, leave it to me.”

She smiled gently and started working.

I also cut the pork into bite-sized pieces again. Then I marinated the cut meat in the sauce I made for a while.

Alright, after marinating it a little longer, all that’s left is to cook it.

“The rice is done.”

“Thanks, you’re amazing. Can you make some omelet next?”

“I’m good at making omelets, so leave it to me.”

She looked at me with a confident expression.

She’s not always so cool, she can be cute too…

She took the eggs out of the refrigerator, cracked them with one hand, and quickly mixed them with chopsticks.

Once they were well mixed, she added sugar, soy sauce, and dashi, and mixed them well again.

Then she poured the beaten eggs into the frying pan and rolled them with a practiced hand.

She’s really good at cooking…I’m not very good at making omelets…

When I make them, they often tear in the middle and end up looking a bit awkward.

But the omelet Nanase finished making had a beautiful golden color and was wonderfully done.

“…That’s amazing.”

“This much is easy.”

“No, I can’t do it this well.”

“Oh, so you have things you’re not good at too.”

“I’m only human. Of course.”

“You’re right. Fufu.”

Nanase laughed amusedly.

Did she really think I was a perfect man who could do everything flawlessly?

Well, I guess I can’t say anything since I’m the one who makes it look that way…

“It feels like we’re a married couple, doesn’t it?”

“Well, we’re in a similar relationship, after all.”

“I look forward to the day when we can cook together like this with our children.”

“….That’s still too soon.”

“It’s not too soon. It’s the future that will come someday.”

What kind of warm scene does Nanase envision when she says that?

In my eyes, such a future doesn’t yet exist.
