Finally, the principal turned his attention to Asakura and the junior members.

I also looked at Asakura and the junior members.

The junior members remained downcast with a somber expression on their faces.

Asakura’s eyes met mine for a moment, and the next moment she looked away awkwardly.

“First of all, let’s confirm the facts. I’m going to check what you did to Shinonome kun one by one. And then I’ll give you a suitable punishment. Is that clear?”

[ [ […..] ] ]

“Hmm? There’s no reply. I’ll ask again. Is that clear?”

[ [ [Y-yes…!] ] ]

The junior members of the club gulp at the sound of the principal’s angry voice.

“Good. Shinonome kun, are you okay with that too?”

“No problem.”

The principal asked me to confirm it as well.

I nodded in agreement.

“Then, let me confirm. First of all, you guys……have not directly violated Shinonome kun like the other members. Is that correct?”

[ [ [Y-yes….] ] ]

“Shinonome kun, is that right? You were not violated by them, were you?”

“Yes, that’s correct.”

“What you did to Shinonome kun was……verbal abuse, slander, and unjustified backbiting. Is that right?”

[ [ [Y-yes……] ] ]

“Shinonome kun?”

“No doubt about it.”

The principal confirms the fact of the slanderous remarks made by the junior members against me.

The junior club members, as if they had given up on trying to make excuses, just looked down and nodded when the principal confirmed the facts.

“Asakura kun. You did the same thing to Shinonome-kun, didn’t you?”

“I-I was…”

“What is it? What are you trying to say?”

“I-I didn’t mean to…that was….um, how should I put it…”

“Hmm? Are you denying the fact that you slandered him?”

“I-it’s not like that, but…”

When the principal tried to get Asakura to admit the fact of slander as well, Asakura tried to say something for a moment.

However, as the principal continued to press her with more and more forceful words, Asakura’s voice became quieter and his tone faded away.

“I don’t want to hear excuses. What I’m doing now is confirming the facts, Asakura kun. Answer properly. Did you slander Shinonome kun? Or did you not?”

“I did…”

“You did?”

“….Yes.”

Asakura nodded.

She admitted the fact of slander.

The principal let out a slightly dismayed sigh.

“Good. I’m not going to listen to your argument here and now. Anyway, Asakura kun and you there slandered Shinonome kun, and that fact has now been established.”

“Yes.”

The principal glanced at me and I nodded back.

“Furthermore, you guys are not alone in that. If it was only slander, I wouldn’t have bothered to call you here. The very sad thing is that there are many other students who have made unjustified slanderous remarks against Shinonome kun because of a misunderstanding. There are other reasons why you were summoned all the way here. You are aware of that, aren’t you?”

[ [ […] ] ]

The junior members nodded silently.

Asakura’s eyes began to move busily.

It was such a reaction as if she was worried that something bad might happen to her.

I tilted my head.

The slanderous remarks Asakura had made against me had already been made clear.

She was particularly persistent, but after all, she had not directly attacked me like the senior members had done, and what she had done to me should have been nothing but slander.

No way, the principal is going to mention that this guy beat up Risa?

But if he was going to mention it, he would have called Risa here as well.

While I was inwardly tilting my head at Asakura’s inexplicable impatience, the principal proceeded with his story.

“You have done something unforgivable to Shinonome kun. You were not satisfied with merely slandering him, so you destroyed his locker and spat out abusive remarks in it. The reason I have called you here today is because you are the ones who carried out the vandalism. Do you have anything to say about that?”

[ [ […..] ] ]

“Eh, you guys…?”

I looked at the junior members of the club.

The juniors looked down awkwardly.

I was wondering if these guys really did that to my locker.

I thought it must have been the seniors who did it, but I guess these guys were the ones who did it.

“….”

I was heartbroken to find out that the junior members of the club, who until the incident had been calling me [Tohru senpai] and adoring me, had done something like that.

“Shinonome kun apparently didn’t know about it.”

The principal turned a sorry look at me.

“I had already found out by talking to them earlier. They are the ones who broke the locker in your club room and wrote graffiti on it.”

“….I see.”

“Yeah ……It’s so unfortunate, but it’s true. Hey, you guys. You have something to say to Shinonome kun, don’t you?”

“I’m sorry…”

“I’m really sorry, Tohru senpai…”

“I’m really sorry…”

The junior members of the club apologized one after another.

“Yeah…that’s enough…”

I said in a weak voice.

I was no longer even angry.

I was so stunned to know that even the juniors who adored me were doing this behind my back that I lost the energy to even get angry.

“I know how hard it is for you…..Shinonome kun.. shall we wait a little while until you feel better?”

Seeing me discouraged, the principal says something like that as if he is concerned about me.

“No, it’s okay. Let’s proceed with our conversation.”
“I see…”

The principal gives me a sympathetic look for a moment before opening his mouth to proceed again.

“The fact that you broke the school’s equipment and hurt Shinonome kun is very serious. Therefore, I order you to suspend club activities for one month. ……Shinonome kun. Is that okay with you?”

“Yes…it’s fine.”

I no longer care about the punishment.

The only thing that I had in my mind was a sense of lethargy about the days I had spent as a member of the soccer club, and the days I had devoted myself to the club.

“You are still first-year students. And you have a long time left to spend in the club and at school. Think of the fact that you only got away with this level of treatment as a warm gesture from Shinonome kun, reflect on it, and work to improve. Okay?”

[ [ [Yes….] ] ]

“Then…..the last one is you, Asakura kun.””

“….”

The principal, who had finished dealing with the junior members of the club, looked at Asakura last.

Asakura’s eyes were looking left and right, clearly not happy about the situation.

“You committed a more serious crime than they did, depending on your point of view,…..and you know it yourself, don’t you? Confess it here and now.”

“Eh, m-me…..?”

“You should know that by yourself. Make sure to confess. And apologize to Shinonome kun.”

“I…”

Asakura’s voice is trembling.

What on earth did this guy do?

What had she done to harm me in some way that I didn’t know about?

The principal seemed to have some sort of certainty.

Having no idea what was going on, I watched the exchange between the principal and Asakura.

“I-I had said some bad words…but other than that, nothing…”

Asakura went without looking the principal in the eye.

The principal sighed sadly.

“Let me tell you then.”

The principal looked at me and Asakura alternately, and then revealed Asakura’s second sin.

“I really wanted to hear it from your own mouth, Asakura kun. I know you still think you can get away with it, but…..I already know what you did through their testimonies.”

“….!?”

Asakura looked at the junior club members.

The principal reveals Asakura’s other crime that I don’t know about.

“Asakura kun. You ordered the junior club members to destroy the lockers, didn’t you? In order to get rid of Shinonome kun. You were the one who ordered them to destroy the school’s equipment and to scribble nasty remarks on it. You are the mastermind behind Shinonome kun’s locker destruction.”

“Huh…?”

“…”

The shocking revelation made me let out such a sound unintentionally.

For a moment I didn’t know what I had heard.

Asakura ordered them to destroy my locker?

Was this guy doing that?

Was she doing that behind my back and taking a split attitude to recruit me back into the club?

I was so stunned by Asakura’s other crime that I couldn’t say anything.

Asakura was looking at the junior members with her mouth agape.

“You guys…you can’t be…”

“They did all the talking. They told me everything they did under your direction.”

“…”

Asakura looks at the junior members with eyes filled with resentment.

The junior members of the club are afraid to make eye contact with the principal and Asakura, or perhaps they are just looking down at her.

“Asakura kun……you can’t get away with it now if you’ve come this far. All of them, the perpetrators, testified that they were supported by you. Do you still deny the locker destruction?”

“I-I was…”

While I was stunned and couldn’t say anything, Asakura looked at me awkwardly and tried to make excuses.

“I-it’s…it’s not like I had malicious intent…I just had to act for the sake of the club…because if Tohru stayed in the club any longer, the reputation of the soccer club would drop…so…I had no choice…”

“How can there be no choice ! ! !”

“Eek !?”

The principal shouted angrily.

Asakura raised her voice in a twitch.

“You don’t even realize what you’ve done ! How can you make such excuses after all this time ! ! !Right in front of him ! ! In front of his own eyes ! ! Have you no shame ! ! !”

“Ah…ah…”

Asakura began to cry.

The principal, who until now had been dealing with the situation calmly, though his voice was tinged with anger, was now yelling at the students in a manner never seen before.

Asakura was so startled with fear that she could not even make eye contact with the principal and was crying.

After that, the principal lectured Asakura for about three minutes from the front with a tremendous swordplay.

Asakura cried like a child.

I did not feel sorry for her.

She would not have realized what she had done unless she was made to feel sorry for herself, and the principal probably knew that.

I saw the principal as a kind and gentle educator who was really angry at this helpless piece of junk, still trying to rehabilitate her.

“That’s what you did. You see? You have to realize that what you did is unforgivable.”

“Ugh…higggh…hiks…gusu…”

“Asakura kun. TYou need to apologize to Shinonome kun first. Apologize here and now.”

“I’m sorry…”

“Again ! Look at Shinonome-kun properly ! ! !”

“I’m sorry….Tohru…I’m really sorry…”

“Shinonome kun…is this okay?”

“…..Yes.”

I nodded.

The principal nodded and waited for the crying Asakura to calm down.

The principal then lent Asakura a punishment that also banned her from working as a manager for a month.

Asakura was forever sniffling, shedding tears, and sobbing like a child.

Some People never learn nor apologize from Their mistakes. They become so stubborn to admit they did wrong and come with cheesy excuses to shift the blame while avoiding responsibilities.

I really hate it when authors just drop writing out of the blue. FFS, is it so hard to cobble together something like “this is it for now”. Even if it gets published I don’t think the company will care if you leave a goodbye note.

The more She tried to make excuses, the more miserable and shameless She made Herself. Let Her cry a river for all She cares. She only made Herself being despised by Tohru to the point He ignores Her existence. Now Her plans to get closer to Tohru has completely crumbled down into dust after The Director gave Her a really good verbal keerhauling.
