I holed myself up in my room.

I never heard that Takeda san was such a good gamer. Miki has raised an unbelievable tiger. I mean, it’s more like a gorilla than a tiger. The stupidity element doesn’t suit Takeda san, so you shouldn’t play that character.

How about Sakura chan? She’s cute and a bit of an honorific character, and look, I don’t mean that she’s great with her legs and whip-smooth.

I was tired of beating up the weakest CPUs. I was trying to come up with a way to relieve stress by taking it easy on my real opponents once in a while and giving them a good beating. It’s ruined, really.

By the way, I’m not hiding in my room because I lost. I’m not.

I sat down on the chair in front of my desk and rummaged through the bag I bought at the convenience store today.

First of all, I had to replenish my sugar intake with an after-dinner dessert. Come to think of it, I think I haven’t had pudding in a while. If I leave it in the fridge, Miki will eat it.

I should stop her from eating my pudding without permission. I’m the one who can’t say it strongly enough when Miki eats it like she’s enjoying it. Is it possible that she’s trying to get me to do it? I’m afraid of her, even though she’s my little sister.

She’s the type of person who’ll be a scary wife when she gets a husband in the future.

After finishing the pudding, I took out a three-page document from a bag at the convenience store. It’s the first time in my life I’ve bought one. It’s essential for job hunting.

Yes, a resume.

Nowadays, they say you can make it on your computer or smartphone instead of writing it by hand. In line with the needs of the times, employers are also accepting such changes.

The company I was applying for didn’t require me to handwrite my resume, and I thought I could just use my smartphone, but I took the trouble and bought one.

This was surprisingly expensive. It’s 120 yen for a single sheet like this. I don’t accept that this and the pudding I just ate are of the same value.

I rearranged my desk and started working on my resume.

I heard on the news the other day that the gender field on resumes has been eliminated. I guess it depends on the manufacturer, but the one I bought had a gender field.

I remember when I applied for a job on the web at TauSowork, there was no gender field on the form.

I guess it’s hard for the companies to keep up with the current strict regulations in that area.  In the description of the part-time job I applied for, there were various considerations such as whether women were actively working there or whether women were welcome.

If my gender is unknown, does my name “You” make me feel like a man? If it was Yoko, it would be a girl.

Well, let’s put such trivial matters aside and concentrate on writing.

Let’s see, name, date of birth, address, and so on.

Srrt, srrt, srrt.

“Ah ! I made a mistake.”

I talk to myself even though no one is around.

I had thrown away a pudding at this moment. Can I use correction fluid on this? I still have two more resumes to write. Let’s calm down and write.

Srrt, srrt, srrt.

“Ah ! I made a mistake again……”

Two puddings. Two puddings. There is only one left. I’m finally trapped.

I-I think I’ll make it on my phone after all…..

*****

The next day, I headed to the family restaurant where I was applying for a job with my completed resume.

The time specified in the email was 3:00 pm. The peak of the lunch hour was over, and the restaurant was quiet and sparsely populated.

The staff who greeted me directed me to a table in the back of the restaurant and I sat down.

I was nervous. I heard that part-time job interviews don’t ask much, but I’m not very good at formal things like this.

After a short wait, a man came out of the staff room nearby.

He looked quite young, and I wondered if he was the manager. I was told to sit down and wait for him, but when I saw him, I stood up.

At first, I greeted him.

“Nice to meet you, I’m Sahara You. Thank you for taking the time to see me today. I look forward to working with you.”

“……Tch, you’re a guy.”

Hm? What was that tongue lashing just now?

It’s just my imagination. As expected.

I was instructed to sit down and immediately handed over my resume, but it was clear that he was in a bad mood.

Did I do something? Don’t tell me it was a bad idea that he saw me sitting and waiting? But I’m also not sure if I should be standing and waiting instead of following instructions when I’m told to sit and wait……did I do something wrong?

“…Sahara…..kun. So, how often can you go out? On Saturdays and Sundays? Can you work both the hall and the kitchen? What about school and permission from your parents? We’re strict about it, but are you sure?”

The questions came one after another. What’s with this manager?

Is this what they call a “pressure interview”? I’ve never heard of such a thing happening at a part-time job.

In the midst of my nervousness, I froze for a moment because of the sudden incident. There were so many questions that I didn’t know where to start.

“Oh, um, excuse me. Can you repeat that, please……”

“Haa…you can go home. I have another interview after this.Good evening.”

After saying that, he got up from his seat and disappeared into the staff room.

What is this? Is this a new kind of pressure interview? I was told by my club advisor, [That’s enough, you’re done ! Go home !] but I really shouldn’t go home.

“……”

Go home. I don’t feel comfortable working here anyway.

I mean….shit ! I want my resume pudding back !

I lay down on my bed in my room after an intense interview experience. Is this what you call a social experience? I’m going to be traumatized.

“Haa….”

I don’t want to work part-time anymore.

I’m going to enjoy my summer vacation like I usually do. Why do I have to feel so bad during the summer vacation?

I went to sleep early to forget about today’s events. Super Doctor sensei. Thank you again.

*****

Three days later, in my room in the late afternoon. I was lying in bed when my phone rang.

I didn’t know the number….who would it be from?

“Yes, this is Sahara.”

“Ah, hello. My name is Kitamura, the manager of Family Restaurant Naginofu…….”

A woman’s voice came from the phone. I mean, you just said “manager,” right? Then who was that the other day?

“Yes, how can I help you?”

“Thank you for the interview for a part-time job the other day. We would like to hire you, so please come to the store.”

What in the world is going on?

Why, Japanese people.
