“Kensuke isn’t here either, so I’ll have lunch alone today……”

Lunch break as usual.

However, one of my few friends, Kensuke, said that he had something urgent and ran off into the middle of nowhere early during lunch break, so I was walking alone down the hallway toward the student cafeteria.

“Konno Sota, 2nd year, right? Can I talk to you for a moment?”

I was suddenly stopped by a group of four boys.

All of them had a green line on their ties–they were seniors in their third year.

“Eh, um…….”

I was a little scared to be surrounded by seniors I didn’t know.

“We’ll be done in a minute.”

Before I could answer, a strong senior put his arm around my neck and locked it tightly so that I could not escape.

Well, it just hurts a little.

“Ah, okay. If only for a moment. ……”

In this situation, which was so disturbing, could I really have responded in any other way?

Let me tell you, I’m a high school boy with zero experience in martial arts, and I have no experience in fights or violence.

I can’t just talk back to a group of four seniors who are obviously looking for a fight, can I?

I was locked in a neck lock by Gori (strong one) senpai, and was taken away to the back of the gymnasium, where there was no one around.

“Keh, koh, koh…so what do you wanna talk about, Senpai?”

I finally got free from the neck lock and asked while adjusting my disheveled collar.

Then,

“Whose permission did you get to be friends with the ‘princess’?”

The senior who first approached me –probably the leader of the group–looked down on me with a half-smile.

Damn it, what’s with this senior, even though we’ve never met before?

The second-year and third-year students are only one year apart.

You seem so bossy, so I’ll call you Bossy senpai. (Of course only in my mind)

By the way, “Princess” means Yuuka.

Yuuka, who is ladylike and graceful, is called “Princess” by some group after her last name which means princess.

“Even if you say that…..who are your seniors? I don’t mean to be rude, but you’ve all never met me before, have you?”

The name of a student from a different grade is not something you would know unless it’s necessary.

That’s because Yuuka is probably known by all the students as the school’s idol.

“We are the top executives of the ‘Princess Guard Cavalry’ who protect the ‘Princess’ behind the scenes.”

“Haa……that so…..”

I can only say that.

What are the Guard Cavalry anyway? This is not an otherworldly fantasy.

The “cavalry” in “Guard Cavalry” means people on horses, right?

Where’s the horse element in high school?

Are these guys delusional?

“I’ve noticed some unwanted students hanging around our ‘princess’ lately. I’m here today to give you a little warning.”

I was puzzled, but Bossy senpai began to talk.

“Haa. A warning….was it?”

Even if a stranger says, [I came to warn you.]

I was puzzled, but I just gave a few words to them.

“The “Princess” as you know is the idol of our school and has rejected the confessions of many boys since she entered the school. The captain of the judo club, which has competed in national tournaments; the No. 10 member of the soccer team, who is the most good-looking guy  in the school; the absolute ace of the volleyball team, who has been recommended for admission to a university; and a brilliant student who scored an A on the University of Tokyo mock exam. All of them were brought to tears before ‘Princess’.”

“Erm….haa……”

For me, I feel like I don’t know where it’s heading.

Ah, but.

I remembered what he said.

That’s exactly what the seniors here are talking about.

・Gori senpai who put me in a necklock = Judo club captain

・Bossy senpai, who is talking to me right now, is a genius who scored an A on the University of Tokyo mock exam.

(Or rather, don’t say it yourself. Maybe you want me to retort at you?)

・Of the remaining two, Playboy senior = No. 10 of the soccer club (hereinafter referred to as Playboy Senpai)

・Tall senior = absolute ace of the volleyball club (hereinafter referred to as Noppo Senpai).

I had completely forgotten about them because we were in different grades, I had no interest in them at all, and I had no discernible connection to them in the first place.

Yes, these seniors were the top rankers of the male caste in our high school.
