I’m walking down the hallway at school and I lose my sight with a presence approaching me from behind …… and I hear a voice behind me.
“Who is it?~”
I knew instantly who it was and answered without a pause.
“Mizushiro sen────.”
“If you don’t recognize me, you can judge by the feel of my breasts against your back right now, okay?”
Mizushiro-senpai then pressed her breasts against my back as she said that.
“I can’t judge because of that, and I was about to answer that you are Mizushiro senpai, please don’t say something like that that doesn’t make sense.”
“You really are the same as ever~”
After saying that, Mizushiro-senpai took her hand away from my eyes and came in front of me.
There was no doubt that I was the one who wanted to use that word, but it was clear that there was no point in saying it to this person right now, so I decided to keep it to myself.
“So, what do you want from me?”
When I asked that, she nodded and said.
“Yes! You see, it’s been a little while since the swim meet, so I thought it was time to adjust our practice schedule.”
The swim meet was held on Saturday, and it is now Tuesday of the following week, so a little time has passed, literally and figuratively.
But this is not particularly surprising, since I had received a message in advance that the dates would be adjusted after next Monday.
“Okay, ……, but did you go out of your way to talk to me just for that? Then I guess you could have just sent me a message or something.”
“Aaah~, and since you’re not used to dealing with the opposite gender, let me tell you, you’re not supposed to say things like that, okay?”
“Haa?”
When I gave a suitable comment, she stopped her playful tone from earlier and said in an embarrassed manner while blushing a little.
“I wanted to talk to you directly,…… that’s why onee san took time out of her break to look around for you,…….”
“I see,……, it’s true that meeting in person saves you the time of waiting for a reply, so in that sense, it’s probably a good idea.”
When I said that, she lets out a sigh.
“What’s wrong?”
“No, it’s nothing, okay? I just thought it is really you.”
….. like the words of an enlightened person, but unfortunately, I am still far from that state of being, so I am unable to understand what she said.
I therefore took a few moments to let the conversation proceed
“When would you like to schedule a practice session?”
When I asked this, she said
“How about the first Saturday in July?”
Since this is the last week of June, the first Saturday in July is within two weeks from now.
Since there was no problem, I nodded my head and said
“Okay, that’s fine.”
“Thank you …… really, thank you.”
I think the first thank you was about the scheduling, but I couldn’t help feeling that the second thank you included something else, so I kept quiet for a bit, and then she said
“Thank you so much for saving my life at the swim meet. …… If I had swum like that, I think there would have been a big backlash, just like you said. …… Come to think of it, I never thanked you properly. I thought I hadn’t thanked you properly, so I just wanted to let you know.”
“……Then, I don’t think it’s me who you should be thanking, it’s the swimmers, isn’t it? I was just there to make a connection.”
“Of course, I thanked everyone on the swim team, but I want to thank you as well,……, so please just take my word for it.”
she genuine gratitude is very much appreciated.
…I don’t know if I’m the kind of person who deserves to receive such a genuine thank you, but I can’t let her pure gratitude go unnecessarily due to my own circumstances.
“I understand, I will accept it.”
“Thank you, Iroto-kun.”
After that exchange, as I was about to go back to the classroom, she approached me and said
“So, you know what? I’ve sent you a message before, but is there anything you want me to wear about swimsuits? Now that you’ve received my thanks, but I’d like to thank you in another way, not just in words, so I’ve got a few potential swimsuits that I think you’d like ────.”
I immediately left the scene with a quick walk and immediately returned to the classroom.
