“Haa~, sleepy~.”
I got a call from Ai last night and got a bit excited and went to bed a bit late.
Okay, let’s just go for a run before school and go to school!
The sixth period was a study period and I was thinking a little bit.
In the game, the protagonist was struggling to catch up with the seniors at the beginning of his first year because of the high basketball level of the high school students.
The person who supported him there was Ai.
By the end of the summer holidays, the protagonist had reached a level where he could participate in the regular competition, and by that time, he started to like Ai, but that had definitely been changed
Of course I don’t want to get in the protagonist’s way, but that doesn’t mean I want to go easy on him and give up the regulars.
However, I can’t think about that all the time, because a month from today, a certain event is going to happen – well, there’s nothing I can do now, so I should concentrate on basketball.
When I was thinking about this, I heard the protagonists talking.
“Hey~ Ai? You’re going to the basketball club today, right?~”
“Yes, I’m going.”
“Okay, since it’s a good opportunity, why don’t you be the manager too, Sara?~”
“Umm~, I don’t know much about basketball.”
“If you’re a manager, it’s okay if you don’t know anything. You can learn it after you join.”
“Eeehh~, hmm~”
“It’s just a trial today, and I’ve got Ai with me, so let’s go.”
“I-if you insist.”
“You three are so nice, I’m the only one left out.”
“Haruka wants to move her own body, right?~”
“Hehe, well, you know~”
Ah~, come to think of it, it was like that.
The storyline where Sara is invited by the main character to come a few times to experience the game, but doesn’t end up becoming the manager? The players were told that.
I didn’t understand it from the players’ point of view, but I could understand it better when I actually saw it.
When I saw Sara’s face turning red because she was invited by the main character, I guess she was simply happy and said she would join.
When I was thinking about that, before I knew it, classes were over and it was after school.
“Hey~ Ai, Sara, let’s go!”
“Yeah, I’m coming.”
“I’m going to be a bit late, so go ahead of me.”
“Okay, I’ll go ahead then.”
Ai, who had left them, came this way.
“Umm, Are you ready, Sano kun?”
“Yeah, I’m ready.”
“Okay, then let’s go.”
So Ai and I went to the gymnasium.
When we entered the gymnasium, the first-year students gave us nasty stares, but most of the second- and third-year students were smiling, unlike I had imagined.
I looked at Ai and tried to ask her why, but she looked at me and said ‘I told you it was okay’, so I quit asking her, although I didn’t know any better.
Well, now I’m more concerned about the protagonist than that.
He’s clearly staring at me, well, I can understand the feeling, but it’s too obvious.
“Hey! Sano-kun!”
That’s what he said and came up to me.
This man is, as I recall, Ai’s brother! I remember seeing him in the game.
“Um, are you Yano’s brother, by any chance?”
“Oh, you’ve got it all figured out, I don’t like formalities, so you can call me Takumi.”
“Er, okay then, I understand, I’m looking forward to work with you. Takumi-san.”
When I replied, Takumi-san laughed a lot and Ai hid her face in embarrassment.
And so the self-introductions were over and practice began.
The older students talk to me a whole lot more than I thought they would, and they are all very kind.
The first years are still the same, but, well, that can’t be helped.
“Long time no see, Ai-chan.”
“Long time no see, Sanae-senpai.”
This person is Sanae Yamaguchi, who was my manager when I was in junior high school.
She is a senior that I respect because she loves basketball and watches each and every member of the club closely.
“I’m looking forward to working with you too, Sara-chan.”
“Ah yes, I’m looking forward to working with you.”
“Haha, you should be more relaxed.”
“Then, Ai-chan, as I’m sure you know, I’ll be explaining about the manager later, so get ready.”
“Yes.”
Sanae senpai said that and went away.
“Hey, Ai chan?”
“Yes?
What’s wrong?”
“Why did Ai-chan and Sano-kun come together?”
“It’s going to be a long story, is it okay?”
Saying that, I explained how it happened.
“Hee~ that happened. I’m glad Sano-kun was able to help you!”
Sara said with a smile and seemed to be thinking about something after that, but I didn’t ask her anything.
My high school, as I recall, didn’t win the national championship, but they had pretty good results every time, and the level of the seniors was pretty high.
The level of the freshmen is high, but compared to the seniors, it’s still not high enough, and when it comes to the main character, he’s in the upper middle of the freshmen.
I was a little excited to be able to play basketball again, even though I was thinking about it.
“Okay, then the first-years make a pair with a senior~”
This is supposed to be the event where the protagonist and Takumi-san are paired up, and the protagonist becomes even friendlier to him and he more supportive of his relationship with Ai.
The protagonist also went to talk to Takumi-san about becoming a pair because they interacted with each other.
I was wondering which senpai I should pair up with, when I was approached from behind.
“Hey, Sano-kun~, let’s pair up with me!”
When I turned around after being told that, I didn’t expect it to be Takumi-san.
I looked at the protagonist for a moment, not understanding for a moment, and he had an expression like that, half in frustration and half in anger.
I saw that and understood that Takumi-san had rejected the protagonist’s offer to team up with me.
“Ah, yes, please take care of me!”
It’s coming out quite differently from how the story unfolded, but I’d already quit caring about that.
I’ve spent the last week or so understanding that although this is a game world, everyone here, including myself, is a living person, so there is no reason for things to go according to the storyline.

I like that MC doesnt care about following the plot like some novel because they are afraid of ruining the knowledge of the future
The world not being in danger that specifically needs the OG Protagonist also helps.
