Sunday.

I arrived at the meeting spot with Nanase about ten minutes early, and she was already waiting there.

Or rather, she was being hassled by someone.

Three guys who looked like total jerks were talking to Nanase.

“Hey, got a boyfriend?”

“You’re super cute, sis.”

“Got time after this?”

Looks like she was being hit on.

“Nanase”

“Kurose-kun…!”

When I called out, Nanase turned toward me and came running over.

“Damn, waiting for your boyfriend, huh?”
“Oh, it’s you.”
“What a waste of time.”
The three guys walked away looking disappointed.

“Did you wait long?”
“N-no… I just got here…”
“Are you okay?”

“Yeah… They just talked to me a little…”

“I see.”

Nanase fidgeted, looking at me.

I looked at Nanase again.

Nanase in her regular clothes was really cute.

Honestly, the difference from her usual self surprised me quite a bit.

“W-what do you think… of my outfit… I don’t usually wear clothes like this… Is it weird…?”

“Nah, it looks good on you.”

When I said that, Nanase’s expression relaxed.

“Let’s go.”

“Okay.”

Without either of us initiating it, Nanase and I started walking hand in hand.

As we walked toward the live venue, we passed by lots of people.

In crowded places like this, you occasionally spot people possessed by the Grim Reaper.

I feel sorry for them, but I look the other way.

I can’t save every single person possessed by a grim reaper.

Grim reapers are everywhere.

At best, I can only help the people around me.

There might be cases like with Hoshikawa where the opponent is armed, and if I tried to save every single person possessed by a grim reaper I saw, I wouldn’t have enough lives to spare.

It pains me, but I have no choice but to give up.

“Kurose-kun…? Is something wrong…?”

“Huh…?”

Nanase peered at my face with concern.

“You had such… a grim expression…”

“Ah, no… just a little.”

“Is something bothering you? D-did you maybe… not want to go on a date with me or something…?”

“No, no. The date is fun. Actually, I’m just a little nervous. It’s my first time going on a date with a girl.”

“R-really…!? W-well, it’s my first time going on a date with a boy too… I’ve been nervous since yesterday…”

“I see. Well, let’s just take it easy, both of us.”

“Y-yeah…!”

I headed towards the live venue while having that conversation with Nanase.

The venue held about two hundred people.

Besides us, a lot of people had packed into the place.

If anything, there were more male attendees, roughly an 8 to 2 ratio.

Age-wise, it felt like there were more working adults, too.

We apparently had to order at least one drink and waited for the live show to start.

Soon, the lights dimmed and the stage lit up.

Music began to play, and the venue gradually heated up.

“Hello everyone!!!”

“We’re Starlit Kiss!!”

“Thanks so much for coming today!!”

“Our first song is ‘Under the Starry Sky with You, My Childhood Friend’!! Sing along with us, everyone!!”

The idols burst out from the wings.

Each wore their signature colored outfit, waving to the audience.

“WOOOOOOOOOOH!”

The crowd roared.

The song started, and the idols began singing.

Some audience members knew the dance moves and joined in, dancing along.

Hoshikawa’s assigned color was pink, and she seemed to be the most popular of the four.

The song had solo parts, and each idol performed their own unique choreography while singing, but the cheers were loudest when it was Hoshikawa’s turn.

Nanase and I were completely swept up in the atmosphere of our first idol live show, forgetting to talk as we watched, mesmerized.

Or rather, the live venue was so filled with music and excitement that it was impossible to even talk nearby.

The live ended after about two hours, transitioning into a handshake event.

Apparently, you could shake hands with your favorite idol and chat briefly.

Lines formed instantly in front of the four idols.

Hoshikawa’s line was the longest and seemed like it would take the most time, so Nanase and I joined the relatively shorter line for the purple-clad idol.

“Thank you so much for coming today!”

The purple-clad idol took my hand and smiled.

“Ah… Are you by any chance—”

“…?”

“…the one who helped Rii-chan?”

“Rii-chan? Ah…”

It took me a moment to realize Rii-chan meant Hoshikawa Rino.

When I nodded, the purple-haired idol smiled.

“Thanks for helping Rii-chan.”

“No, I just…”

“We’ll be here again next week, so come see us again, okay?”

Saying that, the purple-haired person flashed a smile as bright as a blooming flower.

Somehow, I felt like I understood a little bit how people get hooked on idols.

“Haa… That was amazing…”

“Uh, yeah… You’re right…”

By the time we left the venue, we felt utterly exhausted, even though we hadn’t been the ones singing.
