One holiday morning after the sports festival.
I was at a hotel with some classmates.
“Is this the place? Mukai-kun’s hotel?”
“Isn’t it big?”
“But it’s called the Yubel Hotel Mukai, so it must be right.”
The hotel in front of us had an eye-catching presence.
The tall, large building was designed with a perfect blend of old and new, and the outer walls were decorated with quaint patterns.
We stepped inside the hotel, taken aback by everything about it, thinking that it would be nice if our school building were as beautiful as this.

“Hey, this is amazing… we’re normal high school students, aren’t we?’
One of my classmates whispered and the others nodded in agreement.
The greeting was so controlled that it made me stop in my tracks.
The hotel staff …… bowed with a single, unruffled movement and treated us as if we were VIPs.
“Hina?! And Nishihara too”
Hina wears a tuxedo jacket perfectly, and her shirt and tie are also perfect. There was no skirt, and she wore slim pants, with an elegant silhouette that further enhanced her beauty. The shoulders of her jacket are set sharply, and her tie is neatly tied. Her long hair is simply tied up, making the whole look look perfect. Just looking at it, it feels like it’s a scene from a movie.
While I was admiring her, Ryuki came over.
“How’s it going? These girls have been tapping into a lot of things since this morning. You guys are going to be as good as this from now on.”
“Well then, I, Nishihara Natsuki, will endeavour to take your tuxedo measurements!”
She takes us to another room with her.
Nishihara smiled and picked up a measuring tape, and each of us was called in turn to stand at the measuring table.
“First, let me measure you starting with your shoulder width.”
Nishihara carefully placed the measuring tape on my shoulder and checked the size.
“Oh, your shoulders are very solid. You have a very reliable physique.”
Nishihara’s eyes lit up and she said in a complimentary manner.
I feel extremely embarrassed.
“Next is the chest circumference.”
The measuring tape circled around the chest and the number was confirmed.
“Wow, you have a good body, Hikaru-kun~. This would be perfect for a tuxedo.”
Nishihara praised my body every time she took my measurements, as if she were a professional clothes designer.
When she said that and was about to touch my body with her hand, Hina came over with an angry pout, but she shut up again as if nothing had happened. The other classmates were also measured in turn, with a bit of confidence.
After the tuxedo measurements were taken, it was finally time for the customer service practice. The studio, which Hina had prepared with her own hands, was furnished with several tables and chairs, and the atmosphere was like that of a fine restaurant.
“Now, let’s start the customer service practice. Hikaru-kun, let’s start by reviewing your standing posture.”
Apparently the customer service practice was one-on-one, with Hina standing in front of me.
Her smile is full of such confidence and kindness that it naturally calms me down.
I stood up nervously and followed Hina’s instructions, first straightening my posture and smiling.
“First, a smile. For customers, this smile is the first impression they get of you, so it’s important.”
As Hina explains, she stands in front of the mirror and displays her business smile, which is as natural as a professional customer service agent’s and makes you feel at ease just looking at it. And it’s cute.
“Then, try it too, Hikaru,” I was told, and I looked in the mirror and tried to smile like Hina, but it ended up being awkward.
“The smile is too hard. You should relax and have fun.”
Then, after we’ve managed to complete the practice, the guys with wounds all over their bodies and the girls with smiles on their faces are gathered together.
“Well, let’s simulate actual customer service. I’ll play the role of the customer and you’ll try to take the order. Well, it’s like a light test. For now, let’s name the shop Cafe Mukai.”
As Ryuki said with a light laugh, when the mock test began, the tense atmosphere in the studio became even tighter.
Ryuki plays the ‘customer’ role, and Hina stands next to me and kindly gives me advice.
“Hikaru, let’s start by greeting customers as they enter the shop. Don’t be in a hurry, look them firmly in the eye and be confident.”
I take a deep breath and then turn to Ryuki.
He comes into the room as the ‘guest’, staring at me with expectant eyes.
As Hina looks on, I take a step forward.
“Welcome! Welcome to Café Mukai.Here is today’s menu.Have you decided what you want to order?”
After a moment of silence, he asks, ‘Umm, well, can you tell me what you recommend?’
At these words, I try to answer, a little impatiently, but remembering the advice that Hina had given me earlier.
“Yes… my recommendation is the seasonal chef’s special course. It uses the freshest ingredients and is beautifully presented.”
“Thank you very much. We look forward to seeing you again.”
After the test, Hina says ‘That was good, Hikaru-kun. You really worked hard today’, she says and gently pats me on the shoulder.
When her warm palm touches my shoulder along with those words, I feel truly relieved.
“Thank you, Hina. Thanks to you, I managed to do it.”
“Hina, you passed. I’ll go next!”
The other people are also tested in this way.
The test of customer service ended successfully, with some receiving repeated rejections, while others succeeded on the first try.
“Alright, you did well today. As promised……..”
With that said, Ryuki handed one key to the girls and one to the boys.
The boys wonder what’s going on, and the girls are excited, and he goes on to explain.
“You can stay at this hotel today. Thank you for your hard work.”
“Eh?!”
“No way! You sure?!”
“Yes, of course. You came all the way here on your day off. It’ll be a good learning experience to see how real customer service works.”
We were so excited by this unexpected surprise but we were so tired that we went to our room.
