The second day of the summer festival.

Today was the second day of the summer festival, and there was still a lively summer festival going on at the shrine, but the difference from yesterday was that there was a big fireworks display at the end of the festival.

I sat on a bench near the meeting place and waited for Ayaka to come.

It was dusk in the summer and night would soon fall.

I was sitting alone on the bench, feeling somewhat uncomfortable.

I tried to pick up my phone to check the time in detail, but I couldn’t find my phone.

(This is the only time I can’t find it…..)

I got up from the bench to go home to get my phone, but Ayaka appeared at an inopportune moment.

“Sorry to keep you waiting.”

Ayaka was standing in a yukata, a white cloth with a morning glory pattern painted on it, and a red-colored obi wrapped around her.

I couldn’t help but feel a little nervous when I saw Ayaka in her yukata.

“Did I make Shoma wait too long?”

“No, no, I didn’t wait that long. ……”

As I looked at her cool eyes as she spoke, I looked away and returned her gaze.

Ayaka hears this and smiles.

“Well, let’s go. Summer festival.”

“Y-yeah”

And so we walk to the shrine where the festival is being held.

When we arrived at the shrine, many people were enjoying the festival, buying candy apples and other treats from the stalls.

I was also somewhat relaxed, perhaps because I was absorbed in the festive atmosphere, and I enjoyed visiting the various stalls with Ayaka.

“Shoma, let’s play goldfish scooping!”

Ayaka took me by the hand and we decided to play goldfish scooping.

I got a poi and scooped one goldfish.

Then I glanced sideways at Ayaka, who was scooping two goldfish.

I saw this and, not wanting to look uncool, I hurriedly put the poi in the water to scoop the next goldfish.

At that moment, I overheard a conversation between a small child and her sibling beside me.

“Good luck scooping lots of goldfish, onii chan”

“I understood. I’ll scoop you lots of goldfish.”

I couldn’t help but smile as I listened to the conversation between the two siblings.

I couldn’t help but be smitten by the sight of the older brother trying to scoop up as many goldfish as possible for his younger sister.

(They are such close siblings.)

I was so absorbed in the scene that I forgot that I had left the goldfish scooping tool, a poi, in the water for a long time.

I hurriedly brought the poi back to the goldfish.

But it was already too late.

The thin paper of the poi was torn without scooping the goldfish.

In the end, as I was leaving the stall with the bag containing the goldfish I had scooped (one for me and two for Ayaka) hanging from it, I found the brother and sister from earlier standing on the street, talking.

“I’m sorry. I only scooped one fish.”

The girl was disappointed to hear that.

Ayaka seemed to have seen this and made a proposal to me.

“Shoma, can you give me the goldfish you just took?”

“Eh, I don’t mind.”

“Thank you.”

Ayaka then picked up the bag of goldfish I had taken and ran to where the siblings were and handed the two bags of goldfish to the brother.

“I don’t need these goldfish, so I’ll give them to you.”

“You don’t mind?”

“Of course!”

“Sure! Thank you, onee chan.”

Ayaka spoke kindly to the little girl who thanked her with a happy expression.

“You’re welcome. Take good care of your goldfish.”

The little girl nodded in reply to Ayaka’s kind words with a happy expression.

“Yeah. I will take good care of her.”

As I watched from afar, I noticed once again how kind Ayaka was.

Perhaps Ayaka had heard the conversation between the two siblings at the goldfish scooping store.

She must have seen that her brother was not able to scoop many goldfish, so she gave him one that she had scooped for her sister.

(She really is a kind person, isn’t she?).

After that, we parted, and Ayaka and I resumed our tour of the stalls.

It would be a little while before the fireworks went off.

Until then, we wanted to visit various stalls.

At that time, I saw two couples walking hand in hand in front of me and Ayaka.

The two couples were holding hands and chatting happily.

I looked at Ayaka’s hand for a moment.

(I want to walk holding Ayaka’s hand too.)

Such disgusting feelings for someone I’m not even dating make my heart swell.

Then Ayaka noticed my feelings and spoke while holding out her hand to me.

“Do you want to walk hand in hand? Shoma.”

I was embarrassed to hear her say that, and my face turned bright red as I fell silent for a moment.

“It’s just a joke, Jo–…”

Perhaps she couldn’t bear it during that time, Ayaka looked a little disappointed but tried to hide it, but I held her hand in silence.

However, I was too embarrassed to look at Ayaka’s face properly, so I couldn’t see her expression.
