The day passed with each of them spending time as they pleased. Carla and Odie had fought several times. Carla, of course, won all the battles, but Odie looked refreshed and laughed when he lost.

Sol, too, spent the rest of the day killing demons and adding to his experience, if only a little. Celes was worried about him and followed him, but they basically spent the rest of the time talking about other things. Sol personally wanted to be able to protect Celes by closing the gap between her and him, so the only complication was that Celes would also become stronger if they trained together.

The next day, the four of them went to the tower.

Sol thought to himself. Samael was already dead. What about Paz, who has the wind attribute?

Paz’s post-ending appearance, with wings, was closer to the original form than Samael’s. The reason is that Paz had sacrificed a bird-like demon, whose attributes were similar to those of Paz.

And if Paz was completely dead, as Samael was, the story would go awry. In the original story, Behe appears at the stage when Paz is dying and Paz is saved. Paz then begs him to be used as a sacrifice to raise the dead by Levia, the four water kings.

Levia’s resuscitation of the dead is a complete success. Then, realizing that the sacrifice should be made by a being who is close to the being to be raised from the dead, Behe decides to resurrect the demon king by sacrificing himself. So Paz’s situation was important for the future.

However, Sol decided that there was no point in thinking about it now and concentrated on the small fry in front of him. As usual, it is not enough to mainly use ranged attack magic. The fact that there are so many flying demons, it was necessary for him and Lepios to use long-range attacks to take out the small fry that were omitted from the ranged attack magic.

Of course, Celes and the others were not totally unable to attack. Celes can attack at long range by putting magic power into her sword and cutting the wind, and Carla can also jump high and kick or fist them.

When they came to the floor with the core they had arrived at, Sol stopped dead in his tracks.

“Why ……?”

Normally, Paz was supposed to be here. But there was nothing there.

But he knew that something had happened. Wings were scattered, broken wings were falling. And then there was the splattering of dark green blood. I knew that Paz had probably fought with someone.

I wondered if Behe had done this too. Did something go wrong and Behe and Paz fought, but in the end Behe took Paz to revive the dead, as in the scenario?

“…… Celes. What do you think of this?”

Lepios said with a sigh.

“Well, I don’t see the quandary in this situation either. We need to check the tower where the next trace of the puzzle will be found.”

Celes said simply.

Sol noticed one thing at her words. How could it be that three traces already existed?

Having played the game, Sol knew in advance that traces would appear there. So when he was told that there were traces in the three towers, he did not have any doubts. However, in the original story, wasn’t Pasionia first designated as the destination, and after the victory against the revived Four Kings, a new trail appeared and the next destination was designated?

If there were already traces, then Levia in the next tower should have already been resurrected from the dead. Is it possible that the Four Kings, who should have already come back to life, are waiting for them without doing anything?

Until now, he had not questioned this difference from the original story in the slightest. In the game, even if the Demon King is revived, players take side trips for subquests and leveling as a matter of course. In the meantime, the enemy waits around doing nothing.

But this is a world with some degree of realistic compensation. So it should have been strange that there were three traces from the beginning, but he kept mistakenly thinking that he was following the game’s scenario.

Suddenly, Sol notices that there are many large cuts on the wall. He did not remember having so many wounds when he had come here before. Because the last time he had fought Paz, it had been mainly with his own fire magic.

So even if he had been scorched, there shouldn’t have been so many cuts. But this was a cut like the one Celes got when she used her sword to cut the wind.

“Hey. Did the three of you come here together before today?”

Sol said the first question that came to his mind. With these words, Celes stopped dead in her tracks and slowly turned around to look at Sol.

“….. why?”

“No, ……, it’s …….”

“Of course not!”

It was Carla who said that.

“If it was, I wouldn’t have bothered to come here! If we were, we would have told Sol! I mean, I’m not sure if I’m incomplete because I didn’t get to fight a strong guy either,……. Oh, well, peace is best!”

“I-I know, right ……? Haha …….”

Carla wasn’t the type to be good at lying. If she did lie, it would be obvious right away. But she didn’t look like she was lying, so there was no doubt about it.

Perhaps this scar was also something Celes had given her during their previous battle and he hadn’t actually noticed it. Maybe she was covering for him behind the scenes because he was weak.

If that was the case, how could he be so out of step with the scenario?

No matter how much he thought about it, Sol could not find the answer.
