An overwhelming wave of regret hits me.

Why did I refuse Fumi-senpai’s?!

Aaah! I want to go back! I want to go back to a minute ago, right now!

“Hm? What’s wrong?”

Seeing me overcome with regret, Fumi-senpai spoke to me. …So kind.

“Eh, no, nothing.”

“Still hot? Want me to blow on it? Angel’s Breath?”

It’s back!! Another chance for her breath!! I have to ask her now! I’d even beg on my knees!

“Haa… haa…”

Just thinking about Fumi-senpai blowing on me makes my breathing go haywire.

I don’t need to breathe. As long as Fumi-senpai blows on it for me!

Oh no, I can’t control my excitement…

“Huh? Your face is red. Did your fever go up? The cooling patch… is downstairs. I’ll go get it for you.”

Fumi-senpai went downstairs to get the cooling patch.

“Huh? Wait? What about blowing on it? What about blowing on it!?”

My face just got hot from being excited, so by the time she comes back up, it’ll have cooled down already… The fever and the rice porridge too.

“How about it? Feeling better?”

“Yes. It wasn’t a high fever to begin with.”

“That’s good.”

Well, thanks to Fumi-senpai coming over, I’m completely back to normal. I’ll be able to go to club activities tomorrow.

“…Thank you.”

“For what?”

“Because thanks to Shota, I was able to tell Grandma. She said she smiled when she heard my words. If it had just been me, I couldn’t have done anything. Because Shota was there, I could properly convey what I needed to say. Thank you. …Really, thank you.”

I’m glad. I’m glad Fumi-senpai didn’t become like me. If she had become like me, she’d have lived her whole life regretting it.

“It wasn’t because of me. It’s just that your feelings reached your grandmother.”

“No, no. It’s not that. It’s because Shota supported me in so many ways that I could tell her.”

“I really didn’t do anything. The train announcement was just a coincidence, and the phone call was just me talking to Ryusei by chance.”

It might not happen, but if this counts as my achievement, Fumi-senpai might feel indebted to me and start harboring feelings for me.

Nah, probably not. Probably not, but just in case.

If it weren’t for this whole goodwill thing, I’d have taken credit for everything no matter what.

“Is that so?”

“Yeah. Ryusei even told me I should say ‘thank you’ instead of ‘sorry,’”

Of course, that’s a lie. But I need to earn some goodwill with Saotome here, even if it’s just a little.

Don’t worry, I already told Saotome. If Fumi-senpai asks, he’ll say Saotome told me.

I have to earn that goodwill even in situations like this.

“Huh, really? Ryusei-kun told you to say that? Huh.”

“Y-yes.”

Huh? Is she suspicious? But there’s no reason to be suspicious, right?

~A little while ago~

I couldn’t stop wondering. Was everything that happened on the train just coincidence?

Or did Shota-kun set that whole situation up?

So I decided to ask Ryusei-kun, who was on the phone with Shota-kun.

“Yes. Probably all thanks to Shota.”

“I figured as much.”

“Shota was apparently not trying to take credit for it… why would I bother giving instructions over the phone? See? No call history. I think Shota probably handled the announcements too.”

“Why would he do that…”

“He’s kind and shy, that guy.”

“You sound happy.”

“Yeah. He’s my proudest friend.”

“Glad to see you’re doing okay. I’ll head home now.”

“Yes. Thank you so much.”

“See you, Shota.”

“Thanks for your hard work today.”

Thanks to Fumi-chan-senpai coming, I should be able to go to club activities tomorrow feeling fine.

Huh? Did she just call me by my first name?
