“…Thank you.”

The words came out naturally. I’m just so grateful. Thank you for fighting me. This will make me stronger.

“You’re welcome.”

“Likewise.”

A deep friendship had blossomed between these three. If this hadn’t been a board game, I might have cried. That’s how much it stirred something inside me.

Friendship, effort, victory. So these were the words used for club activities? Club activities are such wonderful things. I wish I’d known sooner.

Others might think it’s weird, but this was my first time experiencing it. So don’t look at us like that… Saotome, Niiro.

“Did Fumizuki-senpai start this club?”

This time, they asked us to just play the board game normally, so I’m trying to tone down my excitement a bit while we play.

Even with the excitement reined in, board games are still fun.

In the middle of that fun board game, Niiro asked about something she’d been wondering.

“Not me. It was started by the seniors two years above me. I guess you could say I inherited it.”

“Two years above… so they’ve already graduated, right?”

“Yeah.”

Oh no, this is bad. This conversation is heading in a very bad direction. It looks like we’re heading straight into learning about Fumi-senpai’s past.

“Why did you decide to keep it going by yourself?”

“Because this was the first place that ever accepted me.”

Ahh… this is definitely heading straight into learning about her past.

“See, that’s why I never had many people close to me. So I was so happy to find this place that accepted me.”

Fumi-senpai tells this story with a gentle smile. It must truly be a precious memory for her.

“How long have you been dressing like that?”

Niiro asks pretty bluntly, doesn’t she? It’s helpful in games, but… I wish she’d hold back a bit now.

“Do you know Magical Girl Ringo-chan? I’ve wanted to be Ringo-chan since I was little, so I’ve been dressing like her ever since.”

“Doesn’t dressing like that cause you trouble sometimes?”

Huh? Interviewer? Did she become an interviewer? Her phrasing is totally interviewer-like. Plus, she’s digging into Fumi-senpai’s past super smoothly.

“Yes. Because of this outfit, I didn’t really fit in with others.”

Why is Fumi-senpai’s way of answering changing too, just because she’s being pulled along by her interviewer skills?

“But you still wear that outfit now, right? How have you managed to keep it up this long?”

Is she an athlete? That question would make sense if an athlete was doing grueling training every day, but Fumi-senpai is just wearing what she likes.

“My grandmother played a big role.”

Ah, there it is.

“Grandmother? Does that mean Fumizuki-senpai’s father’s mother or mother’s mother?”

Useless question. Is that really necessary? Doesn’t it matter either way?

“My mother’s mother.”

No, seriously, you don’t have to answer that.

“Was that grandmother your pillar of support?”

“Yes. Grandma was my only ally. Everyone else disapproved of this style, but only Grandma praised me. That’s why even now, when I dress like this, I don’t worry about what others think.”

“What an amazing grandmother.”

“Yes! She’s my pride and joy!”

Hearing her say it so clearly like that, Fumi-senpai’s grandmother must be thrilled.

Seriously, how long are we going to keep this interview format up? Saotome and Hisada-chan should be wondering too. They’re listening way too seriously.

“I don’t know if I should ask this… but is she still doing well?”

Ah, the interview format ended.

“I’d love to say she’s totally fine~ but she ended up in the hospital recently.”

“That’s concerning.”

“Yeah. But Grandma said she’s fine, so there’s no need to worry.”

That’s just a lie to spare her grandchild worry—not the truth.

Sigh… I already know, you see. That she doesn’t have much time left. Hearing those feelings for Grandma directly again… well, it makes me think too.

Because I was a grandma’s boy too, and I have regrets about my last conversation with mine.

Right now, I’m fighting. The part of me that wants things to go according to the original story versus the part of me that doesn’t want her to become like me. This battle is too intense to look away from.

“Alright! Then let’s go see your grandmother right now!”

“””Huh?”””

The winner was the part of me that didn’t want her to become like me.

Huh? Why did the part of me that doesn’t want you to become like me win?! The favorite was supposed to be the part of me that wants to follow the original story! Why did the part that doesn’t want you to become like me catch up?! I thought I was safe, so I bet everything on the original story side~. The odds for the “don’t become like me” side were crazy high, I should’ve bet a little on that too. …Wait a second! maybe it didn’t actually overtake.

…Hmm hmm.

…I see, I see.

…This!

The me who doesn’t want to end up like me was catching up! Meaning the me who wants to follow the original story lost!

…Why did I lose?

I want to see Grandma too, so why am I prioritizing someone else? Because Fumi-senpai can say what she wants to say, even if it’s brief? Then I should be the one getting priority.

Haven’t I been messed up lately? I’m changing the original story however I want. It’s changed so much I don’t even know what the original is anymore.

Sigh… I’m just sick of it.

“Let’s go say hello! I want to tell her to leave everything to us.”

“No, it’d be a bother.”

“A bother? If it’s not a bother, I want to go!”

Whether it’s a bother or not, I’m forcing my way in. We’re already determined!

“…Maybe it’s okay. Grandma might be happy to hear I have juniors now.”

After thinking for a moment, Fumi-senpai voiced her agreement. I was ready to barge in even if she said no, so this is really good.

“But if Grandma isn’t feeling well, we might not be able to see her.”

“That’s fine.”

Meeting Fumi-senpai’s grandmother isn’t our main goal anyway.

“Hey, this is our first club activity! Let’s go all out!”

Who would’ve thought this would be my first club activity?

But since it’s also my first club activity in this life, I’m excited. Before my rebirth, I had this attitude like, “What’s the point of trying so hard in club activities?” but I was also envious, so I’m happy to have this experience.

Club activities feel like THE essence of youth. I’m really glad I joined. This will be a memory for life.

Why am I praising club activities so much? To justify my actions up until now! If I don’t praise them this much, I’ll never recover.

“Hey, you guys. No need to be nervous just because it’s your first club activity. Follow me. I’ll guide you.”

I don’t care anymore, and my mood’s weirdly hyped up.

“Ooh~”

“……”

“……”

“Hahaha”

Saotome was impressed by my words, while Niiro and Hisada-chan looked at me with their usual exasperated expressions. Fumi-senpai gave me a wry smile out of kindness.

Well, Niiro and Hisada-chan are just their usual selves, but Saotome-san is totally smitten with me right now. If I tried to sell him an expensive vase now, he’d probably buy it.

Well, I wonder what’s going to happen from here on out. I’ll be a good kid from now on, so please let this turn out for the best.

…No way. It’s impossible, isn’t it?

Hi team,

Thanks for your work.

Bit unrelated to the chapter but would it be possible to have the name of the title at the top of the chapter again please?

For that to happen, the author would have needed to write chapter titles so they can be translated. If you check on the raw with bad browser machine translation for these chapters, all the author gives is the episode number, not even the volume. There’s a very small number of chapters with further information, usually only when it’s a different POV.
