It was an airplane, or rather, I later learned it was a transport aircraft.
Well, that doesn’t really matter anyway…
The location she pinned on the map was the Downtown New District.
It’s near the center of the map, an area densely packed with residential buildings, considered one of the so-called hotspots.
This game has areas called hotspots.
Essentially, they’re places where gunfights start the moment you land.
Like towns, city centers, apartment complexes, and such.
Ah, nostalgia.
When I first played this game, there were tons of bots, so I avoided hotspots. I’d drop at the edge of the map, grab a sniper, hop in a vehicle, and head for the safe zone—a safe, steady playstyle. But now I crave the intensity and dive right into the hotspots.
L san choosing a hotspot seems pretty savvy too.
“Shall we go?”
“…Yeah.”
“You play a lot?”
“About two or three years.”
“That’s a lot… I’ve only been playing for about a month, so you’re way more experienced than me.”
“And… this rank?”
“I got super hooked and played a ton.”
“…I see.”
I realized she’s the quiet type.
Is it rude to think that?
No, I need to switch gears before I start overthinking.
We jumped out of the plane simultaneously, above the pinpointed location, and each began our descent.
Changing my viewpoint, I could see several others dropping down.
“Quite a few people are coming down.”
“…Scared?”
“No way. More people means more fun, right?”
My target was a building with a rooftop.
Weapons usually drop there, so I could start attacking right away.
Lucky me, an M4A1! It even has a dot sight.
Armor? Well, that’ll be in another room.
It’s an assault rifle for close to medium range combat, easy for beginners to handle.
Just as others landed, I could already hear footsteps and gunfire.
Better take care of them first.
The map showed enemy footstep markers. When I looked in that direction, I caught a glimpse of a figure moving—probably searching for weapons too.
They’re trying to get into this building.
Using a small ledge on the outside, I dropped down to the first floor and aimed my M4 at the enemy searching for weapons.
Thud, thud. Two shots brought the enemy crashing down.
“Yes!”
‘Nice’
“Thank you.”
But this is a duo.
My partner should be nearby, so I headed back up to the building.
‘Found him’
I heard L’s voice, followed by a bang of gunfire. The left announcement panel showed L had taken out the enemy.
“Awesome!”
Besides using high-powered weapons, taking out enemies requires aiming for the head (headshots), but I’m still practicing that.
L pulled it off with effortless ease.
Guess that’s the difference experience makes.
“…Stay alert.”
“Of course.”
We got off to a good start.
We’re going for first place!
