“Rai-san? How come you know so much about other VTubers?”
Did I step on a landmine??
I really messed up, didn’t I.
“When Mei-chan isn’t streaming, I watch others? Like during cup ramen waiting time.”
“Guh, looks like stopping daily streams really came back to bite me…”
“Didn’t you reduce your stream frequency to take a break after getting popular?”
“That’s obviously just the official reason!”
“Huh?”
“By streaming daily, Rai san would come to my stream, right?”
“…Well, I’d watch if work wasn’t busy.”
“Then you obviously couldn’t watch other VTubers’ streams, right?”
“That’s what you mean!?!? “
“Of course it is!”
Of course it isn’t!!!???
I hear some hardcore fans watch streams on two screens, but I can’t pull off that kind of multitasking.
So it wasn’t because she calmed down that she cut back on streaming… wasn’t it? (Despair).
“So it’s back to daily streaming…”
“And then when she gets sick and can’t stream anymore, guess who’s gonna be in trouble?”
“We’re sticking with the status quo!”
Very well.
“It makes me so happy when Rai-san worries about me live ♡”
That’s the thing, isn’t it…
Not a streamer and viewer separated by a screen, but face-to-face.
What exactly is a VTuber anyway? (distant gaze)
“Is it okay if I stream today?”
“Why not tomorrow?”
“How about Risa nee san and Rai-san join too?”
“No way.”
Risa answered instantly.
“I don’t want to either.”
I refused.
“Why not??”
Mei-chan, her eyes losing their light, looked over here.
Honestly, she’s scarier than a VTuber’s standing illustration.
“I’m strictly a listener. I hate suddenly joining a stream when I don’t usually stream.”
“You don’t have to refuse so strongly…”
“This is just my opinion, but in a certain corporate VTuber’s stream, the VTuber’s family joined the live stream. After that, official stand-in images were prepared, hardcore fans emerged, and it evolved into a whole new content category.
If streaming from your family home, and family members accidentally end up in the stream without knowing… well, that can’t be helped. It’s an accident that can be prevented going forward. But turning that into content is unforgivable. So if this is Mei-chan trying to get me on stream as entertainment, I won’t forgive her.”
“I-I’m sorry…”
“I didn’t mean to make you cry… Calm down.”
I hurriedly tried to comfort Meii-chan, who was sobbing uncontrollably.
This was something I absolutely couldn’t forgive.
Realistically, streaming live from my parents’ house is unavoidable.
Naturally, if family members accidentally, truly accidentally, had their voices picked up on stream… that’s an unavoidable irregularity.
In that case, I think the streamer who didn’t contact the family beforehand is at fault, and they just need to be thorough about that going forward.
Using it in conversation? Well, I could forgive that.
Bringing up topics like “my dad, mom, brothers, sisters, etc.” is unavoidable.
But putting them on stream? That’s different, right?
Leaving that in the archive is weird, and not stopping people from making clips is weird too.
Maybe it’s possible because they don’t show their face, so the risk of being identified is lower.
In fact, it’s probably precisely because they don’t show their face that they do it.
This is just my personal opinion, so I don’t know how others feel.
“Well, apparently there are annoying viewers out there too, so don’t get too down about it…”
“W-what am I saying…”
“Hold on, hold on, hold on! You’re getting way too down!!! You weren’t even streaming, so you’re safe! Calm down!!”
It took me 30 minutes to calm Mei-chan down.
I really feel terrible about that…
I patted her head and let her sit on my lap.
I’m glad she cheered up…
Good luck with your stream.
