After the trip—everyday life returned.
That incredibly fun “Ryo kun’s Comfort Trip” ended like a fleeting dream, and we were once again being chased by reality!
“Ugh, this sucks—”
Toka tossed her summer homework aside and flopped onto the sofa.
Yeah! Summer break was almost over, and she hadn’t finished any of her homework!
“Stop slacking off! Get to work!”
“My brain’s taking a break right now~”
“You haven’t done enough to deserve a break!”
So, right now, we’re at Toka’s place, fiercely battling through her homework.
“I couldn’t go to school much at the end of the first term, so I have to go properly this term…!”
“Hang in there, Ryo kun~”
“You’re going too, you know!”
“Attack-attack Ryo kun continues…”
“I think that’s a bit off…”
Even as I said that, I still hadn’t completely shaken off my vacation mood. Even when I opened my textbook, none of the content was sinking in.
“Haa… Maybe I should check something.”
“Check?”
“Toka’s SNS.”
“Ah—”
Several days had passed since Asahina Toka started her SNS. Its operation was surprisingly smooth, the comment section overflowing with kind words for Toka and Kagurazaka Kaede.
…Of course, that wasn’t all, though.
・You quit, yet you show up again using SNS. Your need for validation is annoying.
・Your happiness appeal is grating.
・Your boyfriend’s taking those photos, right? I’ve seen it all before, but Asahina Toka’s femalea appeal is way too strong.
・Can’t you spare a thought for people who are unhappy right now?
Quite a few negative opinions like these were visible too.
Still, the reason her SNS seems to be going smoothly is that no one says things like this.
[Kagurazaka Kaede is a failed project]
Toka’s original plan was a huge success. By having a failed child actor use her failure as material, she prevented the creation of the next failed project.
…Whether that was really all part of Thka’s plan, I don’t know.
“Where should we go on our next trip, Ryo-kun~?”
Saying things like that, Toka started fiddling with her phone. Hey, what happened to your homework?
Of course, I think some of it is coincidence, but compared to the old Toka, I think it’s incredible growth.
“Ryo-kun, are you looking at SNS again?”
“Yeah. Toka’s getting job offers via DM.”
“Reject them all, of course.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
Touka never even looks at her own account. She’s completely handed off the management to me. So if I wanted to, I could block all the negative comments myself.
But—I think the Touka of now has grown strong enough that she probably doesn’t need that anymore.
“You’re already thinking about the next trip?”
“Yeah, gotta plan things out.”
“All kinds of things… I think you should be focusing on your homework right now.”
“But a honeymoon is more important than homework, right?”
“It’s way too early to be thinking about that!”
Oh no, I might have blown it!
That day, I ended up replying to Toka like this.
(I really want to marry you, Ryo-kun… you know?)
(Me too!)
(Huh?)
(So when the time comes, let me properly propose to you)
(H-huh…?!)
(I want to do things like that properly. Because I love Toka more than anyone else)
(I-I love you too, Ryo-kun! I love you more!)
(No, I love you more—)
Infinite loop ensues.
I got swept up in the fireworks atmosphere and said something pretty bold…
Well, I mean, I’d just made a plan to not let Toka take the lead! So I figured I couldn’t just keep letting her do all the talking!
By the way, that night, we had a much more spectacular lovey-dovey battle than the fireworks. But I survived the death game of reason!?
“I’m moving into your family home, Ryo-kun♪”
“H-hold on a sec! Why are you acting like this is a given…?”
“But we’re getting married, right? So it’s only natural I’d live at your place, isn’t it?”
“Well, yeah, I guess… But you’re telling me this now!?”
“Preparation is important, you know? More than homework.”
“Right now, homework should be your priority!”
Tohka puffed out her cheeks and started doodling in the note. On the back cover, the very last page of the note, these words were written in huge letters.
[Ryo and Toka: Congrats on the Marriage♡]
Huh, that’s weird. It’s a bit late to notice, but the final goal of the note seems to have gotten pretty off track…?
“Hey, Ryo kun! Get my hair done!”
“Why now of all times…”
“Because we’re going to your place for dinner tonight, right? I want your family to like me, right?”
…Toka really changed after that trip. She’s getting brighter and brighter, or maybe just less reserved.
Oh, come to think of it, there’s one more thing that’s changed!
“You got a TV in your room now, huh?”
“Yeah. I kinda want to watch DVDs with Ryo-kun and stuff.”
—A TV now sat in Toka’s room.
Whether Toka’s dad set it up or she requested it herself, I couldn’t tell…
“I never pictured Toka’s room with a TV.”
“Really? Well, let’s turn it on then.”
Toka pressed the remote, and the noon news program appeared on the screen.
“Ugh.”
Toka made an unmistakably disgusted face. On the screen was a face she hadn’t seen in what felt like forever.
“It’s Kaede.”
The on-screen text was promoting a new drama scheduled to start soon.
