The day after Kagurazaka attacked. I came to Toka’s house like always, but today she seemed somehow off.
“Ryo-kun, are you feeling okay now?”
She was restless, acting strangely—something was clearly different from usual!

Another weird sound escaped Toka. Hmm, her face is bright red, but she doesn’t seem to have a fever. Yet, for some reason, Toka is hunching her shoulders and stiffening her body.
“Toka, are you really okay?”
I found myself leaning in to look directly at her face—

She trembled violently, covered her face with both hands, and curled up into a ball.
“T-Toka?”
“W-wait a second! Too close! Way too close!!”
“Huh? I thought you might have a fever…”
“You already checked that, didn’t you!? Don’t… don’t stare at my face like that, right in front of me!”
Something’s definitely wrong! The usual Toka wouldn’t get flustered over something like this. After all, she was the one who tried to kiss me just now! She must be feeling really bad.
“Toka, let’s get you to bed!”
aying that, I scooped Toka up in a princess carry.
—But.
“KYAAAA Huh!? Huh!? Are you crazy!? Are you trying to kill me!? Are you out of your mind!?”
Toka thrashed in my arms. Tiny but surprisingly strong. What is this flailing attack? It hurts like hell.
“No, that’s not it! I was just trying to get you to lie down on the bed…! You were swaying all over the place!”
“What kind of thinking is that, trying to put me to bed with a princess carry!? I don’t get it, I don’t get it!!”
Her face was no longer just bright red—it looked like steam was practically rising from the top of her head. I hurriedly set Toka down on the bed, only for her to grab a cushion and bury her face in it.
“…I’m gonna die… This is too embarrassing, I can’t… I can’t, I can’t, I can’t…”
What kind of reaction is this? Isn’t this a bit over the top?

Something stirred deep within my chest. The moment I started to think about it, I shook my head as if to shake it off. But…
“You idiot, Ryo kun!”
Toka flung the cushion at me with a thud. Her lips trembled, and her large eyes glistened with tears.
“I’m all flustered… I was panicking, trying so hard…! My head’s spinning…! Ryo-kun… Ryo-kun… you’re… you’re so mean…!”
Realizing it, Toka gasped, covered her mouth, and looked down again. But it was too late. Her feelings were already out in the open.
“Are you blushing?”
“Ugh…”
“Whaaaaaat?! Now?! After you were the one who kissed me all over the place?!”
“Shut up, shut up! I realized I can’t compete with you, Ryo-kun! I was trying to train you, but I ended up getting trained myself! Every time you kiss me, I get reminded of it, ooooooh!”
“Toka’s saying something totally weird.”
On the bed, Toka started flailing around. Man, Toka’s acting so strange today.
“Anyway, I’ll clean up today, so just rest. I’d be in trouble if you collapsed too.”
“Mm…”
Toka nodded slightly, her face bright red as she pulled the futon over her head.
“Ryo-kun…?”
“Hmm?”
“Your birthday’s in August, right? Listen, why don’t we use that Kagurazaka travel voucher then? Let’s go on a trip together for your birthday.”
“Whoa! That’s too much! You wouldn’t have to go out of your way for my birthday!”
“I want to give you the best birthday ever. Please?”
She was the one asking me… I didn’t really have a reason to refuse, though…
“If you insist…”
“Then I’ll let you know when I’m going to see Kaede-san!”
“U-uh, okay.”
Oh crap, my heart’s already racing. I had wanted to go somewhere during summer break, but I never imagined I’d get to go on a proper trip with Toka.
“Hey, hey, Ryo-kun, which do you like better—bikinis or one-piece swimsuits?”
“What the hell is this all of a sudden!?”
“…I don’t have a swimsuit for the beach. Wanna go shopping for one together?”
“Huh?”
“Don’t be disappointed if my chest is small okay…?”
