I don’t want to follow in Ito Makoto’s footsteps.
So, I’m going to disappear today.
I won’t go to school, and I won’t go home.
I’ll tell my friends that I’m absent from school, and I’ll tell my parents that I’m staying at a friend’s house.
Even if I do disappear, I don’t know what to do. I have nowhere to go.
I’d have to make sure I don’t go to the places I usually go. Shiina might come looking for me.
So I can’t go to the arcade or shopping center in front of the school station.
If so, I should go to a movie theater a few stations away.
Four stops away from the nearest station to the school, I arrived at the station where the movie theater is located.
I headed for the cinema, calling my friends to tell them that I was going to take a break.
“It’s empty.”
It was a weekday afternoon, and the movie theater was empty. That is true. Not many people go to the movies in the middle of the day on a weekday.
“Well, what shall I watch?”
At the ticket booth, I was staring at the touch panel.
Normally, I would have picked what movie to see at what time, but since I came here on a whim, I hadn’t decided what to see.
Let’s go with something that doesn’t have too long of a wait.
“Oh, I’ll take that one.”
I chose a suspense film that had recently caused a stir on the Internet. I heard that people like it and dislike it very much.
I was just curious about it, and the time was just 20 minutes away.
I chose a seat in the middle of the theater, put in 1,000 yen, and went to buy popcorn after the ticket was issued.
“I asked for an L of caramel popcorn and a —– Coke M please”
Popcorn and Coke are a must when you go to the movies. This is an ironclad rule.
When I finished buying the popcorn, the announcement came just 10 minutes before the movie, so I moved to the designated theater.
“I knew there were not many people in the theater.”
There were only six people in the theater, including me. It looks like we can watch the movie quietly.
As I sit down and put my phone on silent mode, advertisements start playing and the place goes dark.
After the last interesting advertisement about no voyeurism, the main movie started.
As I was concentrating on the movie and munching on my popcorn, I was about halfway through the movie when I saw a figure approaching from the side.
The person bowed his/her head and finally sat down next to me.
Is it someone who came from the middle of the movie? I mean, who comes to a movie in the middle of the show?
Maybe he/she had made a reservation online and was late for some reason.
But when I bought my ticket, the seat next to me seemed to be empty……..
Instead of thinking about that, let’s concentrate on the movie.
It’s a nice place, but I don’t want to ruin it by thinking about unnecessary things.
I drink a Coke to refresh my palate and put my hand in the popcorn jar once more.
(Oh, ……………)
But the only thing that hits my hand is the bottom of the container. It seems I had unconsciously finished the popcorn.
I feel like I’ve lost a little. But I think there was a little bit left until a while ago. …………
No, that’s enough. Let’s just enjoy the movie.
