“We’re finally here.”

“……So the summit looks like this.”

We had been walking for some time after leaving the Okusha Shrine and had finally arrived at the summit of Fushimi Inari. While I was feeling a sense of accomplishment upon reaching the summit, Kano san was looking a little unsure.

The reason for this was probably because the view at the summit was different from what she had imagined. When one hears that the summit of Fushimi Inari is 233 meters above sea level, one might imagine that the view is spectacular.

Unfortunately, however, the buildings and other structures were hiding the beautiful view, and we could not see it anywhere, even though we looked around 360 degrees. The view in front of our eyes is just too ordinary.

“Did the summit of the mountain look different from what you imagined?”

“Yeah, I thought it would be more beautiful.”

“To be honest, if it was just about the view, the spot on the way here with the best view of Kyoto City was more beautiful.”

“I guess that’s what I didn’t expect.”

The first time I visited the summit of Fushimi Inari when I was a kid, my brother and I had the same reaction as Kano san does now. We took a selfie in front of the summit sign and then went to the Kamisha shrine to pray.

“Ah, they said it was a free omikuji. Isn’t it very rare to get a free fortune?”

“I know, by the way, Fushimi Inari’s omikuji are quite interesting because the results are very special.”

That’s what I explained to Kano san, who noticed the existence of free fortunes. I think that the general results of a normal omikuji are Great Luck, Luck, Medium Luck, Small Luck, Good Luck, Bad Luck, and great bad Luck, but in the case of Fushimi Inari, the results are a little different.

In addition to the common results, there are also some that have never been seen elsewhere, such as [Great-Great Luck] [Great Luck-Bad Luck] [Good Luck-Small Luck] [Luck-Bad Luck].

“Heh, let’s draw our fortune too.”

“I was thinking of taking revenge for the fortune I drew last time.”

The omikuji that I drew on my trip to Hakone, even though it was a matchmaking shrine, had a lot of bad things written on it, such as that I should give up on love.

I wanted to overwrite such a traumatic result with a good one at any cost. With this in mind, I drew the omikuji with Kano san.

“Ah, Yuito, look at this. I got a great-great fortune.”

“Isn’t that the best result?…..I drew half bad-half good, which means neither good luck nor bad luck, so I can’t say what the result is.”

We started to read our own fortunes, muttering like that. On the omikuji, there was a waka poem, [The moon in the sky is the mirror of a person] along with an explanation of the result.

“My omikuji says that my wishes will come true and I will be happy, but that I will be unhappy if I’m greedy beyond my means.”

“My wishes come true and I get a lot of happiness, but if I wish for too much, I will lose my treasures and be unhappy.”

“So it seems that God is telling us not to be too greedy and to be moderate.”

“Yeah, that’s why after I make Yuito’s body and mind mine, I’ll behave quietly”

“Please don’t try to make me your property.”

After a while of excitement as the two of us read fortunes together, we began our descent. We took as much time as we did climbing to the top because we had to take breaks along the way.

“Then, shall we move on to our next destination, Gion?”

“Ah, I have a good luck charm I want to buy first.”

“A good-luck charm?”

“Yeah, there is actually a good luck charm I was planning to buy when I came to Fushimi Inari.”

Kano san smiled as she said this and started to head straight to the sales floor. Then she slowly picked up the amulet called [Meibu Enmusubi Charm]. I see, it seems that Kano san wanted a good luck charm for matchmaking.

“I think I’ve been to so many places for matchmaking that it’s more than enough for me to get a good luck charm now.”

“What is important is the part before the blessing that says [Myobu].”

Kano san had a grin on her face when she said that. I have a bad feeling about it, but since I don’t know the meaning of [Myobu], I decide to ask just in case.

“What does it mean?”

“It means both a fox who serves the god Inari and a wife.”

“Wait, wait, wait, is’t a wife a bit too early?”

I couldn’t help but retort as I realized that Kano san was trying to make us a married couple. Then Kano san starts grinning.

“Well, if you said it’s too early, does that mean you’re planning to marry me in the future?”

“T-that was just a figure of speech…….”

“I’ve got your word, so I need Yuito to do exactly what you’ve just said.”

Yeah, there’s no point in saying anything more. I feel like my mind is being filled in more and more on this trip to Kyoto, but will it really be okay? No matter how I think about it, I don’t think it’s okay, but I’ll stop thinking about it too deeply.
