“Wait a minute !”
Just as the discussion was about to begin, the door to the conference room opened with a bang.
Entering through the door was a peach-colored-haired junior, a figure that I have become a little accustomed to seeing recently.
Nanami san entered with a big smile on her face.
“You’re late, Sugiura. Hurry up and sit down.”
“Y~es.”
Nanami san answered and immediately sat down next to me.
“I’ll be in your care, Nanami san.”
“Leave it to me. However, if that person is here, I don’t think there’s anything I can do.”
Nanami san said that with a slightly bitter look on her face.
Who is that person?
Well, I was just told not to pry yesterday, so I won’t ask.
“I will now begin the meeting. As I told you the other day, we will be discussing the attempted indecent assault case involving Horii san, Iida kun, Tanaka kun, and Kato kun. Please note that the school will decide on the disciplinary action to be taken after this meeting, and that the four students will be taken to the police station once this meeting is over.”
When the vice principal made this declaration, the atmosphere in the room became a little grim.
The parents of the perpetrators had never imagined that they would be taken to the police, and their faces were contorted in shock.
“First, let me give you an overview of what happened. After class the other day, Horii san called the victim, Amane san, to the roof, where she was restrained by three other male students. After that, Horii san made a statement that he was going to film Amane san being violated and post it on the Internet. Just as she was about to be violated, Yanagi kun, who is here, saved her.”
“How do you know so much about the situation on the rooftop?”
The guardian of one of the three boys raised his voice.
Well, I think it’s a fair question.
“Sugiura san, who is here, apparently took a video of the incident, and that was the decisive factor in our being able to clearly understand what had happened.”
‘Why was there a camera on the roof?”
“I like the view from the rooftop, so I put the camera there and happened to get such a video.”
Nanami san said that while looking at the parent who spoke up.
The sound of her voice was filled with a definite pressure, and the guardian who raised his voice immediately became frightened and sat down.
“I would like to apologize to Amane san, the victim of this incident. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the school’s ineptitude on this occasion.”
The principal and vice principal stood up and bowed.
It’s not every day you see the highest authorities of a school bowing together.
“I am truly grateful to you, Yanagi kun, for saving Amane san’s life this time. It is thanks to you that this incident did not turn out to be irreversible.”
They bowed one more time.
I felt uncomfortable when they bowed several times like this.
“No, I just did what I was supposed to do, so don’t worry about it.”
I was really just doing what I was supposed to do.
It’s not something to be so thankful for.
“And the school intends to expel the four students who caused this incident.”
“No !”
“That’s absurd !”
“Even so,”
The parents on the male students’ side were screaming in unison.
They were still not fully aware of what their sons had done?
I was getting irritated.
“No, I think the school made the right decision. They are the ones who did that much. And my daughter, of course.”
It was Runa’s mother who raised her voice.
She was someone I had met many times.
I had not seen her recently, but she must have been a fairly sensible person.
“But still yo can’t expel them,”
“That’s right~”
“Yes.”
But the parents were still not satisfied with the decision to expel them, and they were making a fuss.
It’s totally irritating.
However, it is only the parents who are making a fuss, and the students are silent.
I don’t know if they understand what they’ve done to some extent, or if they’re just embarrassed by the word “expulsion,” or if there are other factors at play at all.
“Will you all please be quiet? What your sons did was just a criminal act, regardless of whether it was inside or outside of school. There was nothing wrong with the school expelling a student who committed a crime. Rather than that, shouldn’t you all be thinking about what will happen in the future, or more specifically, the court case?”
I was not the only one frustrated by the unproductive conversation among the parents, and Goto san stood up to speak.
