Having successfully snagged their yakisoba buns, the two of them made their way out of the crowd.

The cafeteria and hallways were teeming with hungry students during lunch break.

“Shall we split up here? I’m going to eat in my classroom. The cafeteria’s too crowded.”

Houtarou stated matter-of-factly and turned to leave.

Seika grabbed the sleeve of his blazer as if she’d been snapped out of a trance.

“W-wait, wait!”

She’d finally managed to meet up with him.

She absolutely didn’t want to eat lunch separately like this.

She wanted to eat with him.

Seika’s 530,000-IQ brain started working overtime, churning out excuses.

Um, um, um, um… Her eyes darted around, and then—snap!—a brilliant idea struck her.

“That’s it!”

“Don’t yell out of the blue. What’s wrong?”

“A friend of mine is in the Literature Club, so let’s eat in their clubroom! They hardly ever use it anyway!”

“Nah, I’ll just eat in the classroom.”

“It’s a quiet place! Super quiet, I tell you!?”

She leaned forward eagerly, her ample chest jiggling as she made a fierce pitch.

Her invisible dog’s ears perked up, and its tail wagged so hard it looked like it might snap off.

Houtarou let out a small sigh of exasperation.

“You’re loud enough on your own. Well, if it’s quiet, I guess that’s fine.”

“Yay! Then I’ll text them right now!”

Seika struck a victory pose and triumphantly pulled out her smartphone.

Watching Seika quickly type out a message, Houtarou suddenly spoke up.

“You, your friends… no.”

“Hm? What’s wrong?”

Seika tilted her head at Houtarou, who had started to say something but stopped mid-sentence.

Houtarou looked away, seeming a little awkward.

Putting his unnatural reaction and the words he’d almost said together in her head, Seika’s eyes widened in realization.

“Wait… did you think I didn’t have any friends!?”

“…………I’m not saying that.”

It was a silent affirmation.

“Hmm, that’s harsh!”

Seika was the one who’d been completely shunned by the girls in her class and was totally on her own.

It was no wonder he’d misunderstood her that way.

But that clumsy, honest nature of his—his inability to tell a lie—was an irresistible charm to Seika.

(But I really like Achi-kun just the way he is!)

Seika let out a sloppy, “Nuhahaha” laugh.

Clutching her smartphone to her chest, she squirmed with delight.

“Ah, replied! it’s okay!”

Seeing the reply on the screen, Seika began walking beside Houtarou with a spring in her step.

Her excitement was at its peak as she looked forward to her first lunch alone with the boy she loved.
