Elisia slowly sits up from where she was lying on top of me. Her long hair glows mysteriously in the moonlight, and a single tear glistens at the corner of her deep purple eyes as she stares at me. The defiant impression she gave when she first arrived is gone; all that remains is the expression of a frightened child.
It’s a sight that brings to mind the “student council president who lost everything” from the original story.
Her honor, her trust, her purity. A pitiful girl who had lost it all. Like the other main heroines, she too was destined to meet a tragic end.
(――“Every student will survive.” That declaration will never be fulfilled in this game.)
The words Elisia had spoken at the school assembly to inspire the students.
That goal was never achieved in the original story. On the contrary, the number of victims increased with each passing day, and Elisia’s heart grew heavier.
Every time someone died, the heartless words hurled at her by the surviving students—such as “Why did they have to die!?” or “It’s because you lot are useless!”—also served to erode her spirit.
Naturally, it wasn’t me who supported her through it all—it was Yu.
Although we were in different classes—S and A—as fellow party members, we entered the labyrinth together, saved each other’s lives countless times, and fought side by side. As a result, a solid bond of trust had formed between us. —But eventually, that trust would become twisted.
(I guess Elisia was at her limit in the original story, too.)
I looked up at Elisia, who was looking down at me, and gave a wry smile.
It all started one day, shortly after several student council members had lost their lives in the dungeon, just as we were reaching the midpoint of our quest to conquer the Primordial Dungeon.
Perhaps she could no longer bear the daily mounting casualties, or the barrage of insults and accusations. Elisia ended up engaging in a physical relationship with Yu. It was supposed to be a one-night mistake, a way to cope with the daily life-and-death struggles in the labyrinth and the constant mental strain.
But that led to an irreversible tragedy.
Their secret tryst was witnessed by the main heroine—Ciel—or another girl who was part of the same party at the time. Driven by jealousy and anxiety, she fell into despair and fled deep into the Primordial Labyrinth alone.
As a result, she died, and Elisia and Yu’s hearts died as well.
Thus was born a depraved relationship in which they comforted each other day after day.
(You wouldn’t think that “holding her” there would lead to the death of another heroine, would you?)
It’s an adult game. Naturally, there are scenes like that.
But no one would expect that choosing that path, blinded by immediate desire, would result in the death of one of the main heroines you’re trying to win over. In a way, isn’t that a honey trap?
Compared to the other heroines, the Decadent Relationship route had a massive number of intimate scenes, so it was actually quite popular among fans… but since it’s such a mentally taxing route, you really needed to be prepared for it.
(And on top of that, if you rejected Elisia there, she would end up mentally breaking down and dying. …How many times did I think to myself that this was a typical, cruel choice from CHOICE//MAZE, where you can only save one of them?)
And so, I found myself lost in thoughts of memories from a past life.
“…I’m sorry. I got carried away.”
Muttering softly, Elisia stepped back from on top of me.
I sat up and watched her step down from the bed. Elisia’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she wiped the tears lingering at the corners of her eyes with her finger. Then, smoothing out the hem of her rumpled negligee with her fingers, she walked over to the nearby table.
“I’ll make some tea. I didn’t call you out this late just to celebrate our reunion. I’ve got another matter to take care of as well.”
“……Is that so? I was under the impression that was the main reason.”
“Of course it is. Do you have any idea how lonely I’ve been? I’d love to stay in your arms for at least a few more hours.”
“…………You’re joking, right?”
“Hehe, who knows?”
Elisia, smiling seductively, poured tea into a cup and brought it over to me.
We sat side by side on the edge of the bed, close enough that our shoulders touched, and Elicia immediately brought up the subject.
“As for the class rankings, you’ll naturally be in Class S. Just like me.”
“…………I suppose so.”
“Hmm? You don’t look too happy. Are you dissatisfied with something?”
“No, it’s not that.”
I shattered the crystal and blew the golem away.
Given how spectacular my performance was, it wouldn’t be strange if I were judged to be the strongest fighter. But in my case, that excessive combat power could end up being my downfall. Shaking my head to dispel that faint anxiety born of my knowledge of the original story, I urged Elisia to continue.
Though she wore a puzzled expression, Elisia began to speak.
“――I suppose all three of your companions would be classified as Class A.”
I nodded at the result, which matched the original story.
The class system at this academy isn’t simply based on academic performance.
Class A is, so to speak, the main force.
They are the vanguard unit that dives into the unknown floors faster than anyone else, eliminating powerful enemies as they charge toward the core. Yu’s group falls into this category.
Next are Class B and Class C. Their main job is to remain in the layers conquered by the vanguard and deal with the monsters that spawn there. It’s a thankless task, but they play a crucial role in preventing those monsters from escaping the labyrinth.
By the way, they have far more students than any other class.
As for Class D… Unfortunately, this is the class where students who cannot be relied upon as combatants are assigned. Their work mainly consists of supply support, medical assistance using potions, and organizing information.
They are the ones deemed unfit for combat among students who were otherwise gathered on the assumption that they could fight.
Although their numbers are overwhelmingly smaller compared to other classes, they play a behind-the-scenes supporting role—healing bodies exhausted from battle and replenishing depleted items—so I felt they were quite helpful in the game.
And finally, there is Class S.
This is not merely a top-tier class. To put it bluntly, it is a gathering of “special cases.”
Sometimes they go to the front lines alongside Class A students, and other times they mix with Classes B and C to help maintain the defensive lines. Occasionally, they even enter Class D work areas to assist with resupply and maintenance.
They can be assigned anywhere and function effectively wherever they’re placed. Class S is where such students gather. The criteria for assignment are simple: ability and family background.
A good example is Elisia, the daughter of a duke and the student council president, who is in Class S.
As I was thinking about this, Elisia took a sip of her tea and exhaled quietly.
“We’re in the same class, but we’ll likely be assigned to different units… Hmm… maybe I should tamper with the paperwork now and make your party all-male…?”
“…I’d rather not have a stuffy party full of nothing but men, though.”
“Hehe, well then, make sure there are as few women around as possible—other than me and Liene. Just looking at them makes my chest feel unbearably tight.”
“…So Liene is okay?”
“She’s your personal maid, after all. But I won’t allow anyone else. Absolutely not.”
I gave a wry smile at Elisia’s firm declaration.
It’s hard to put into words, but her love feels a bit suffocating.
It would be nice to think she cares for me that much, but it’s also a little scary. It’s not that I lack the confidence to fully reciprocate her love—it’s just that when I see her talking about love at such a dependent level, the original Elisia from the source material inevitably flashes through my mind.
(Well, I guess I just have to do my best to make sure it doesn’t come to that.)
After a brief pause, I picked up my cup and took a sip of tea.
The aroma of the tea tickled my nose, and a faint bitterness followed by a mellow sweetness spread throughout my mouth.
We sat quietly, sipping our tea together, and after a while, I spoke softly.
“Hey, Elisia.”
“Hm? What is it?”
“I want to go check out the Primordial Labyrinth. Could you use your authority to make that happen?”
Elisia didn’t answer my words right away.
Her eyes narrowed as she quietly pondered.
“…It’s before the official conquest. Normally, I’d have to turn that down. —But you’re not the kind of man who’d say something like that without a reason…”
After a few seconds of silence, she let out a small sigh, then looked me straight in the eye and said,
“It’s neither reckless nor impulsive. You must have a reason for this, right?”
The corners of Elisia’s mouth turned up slightly.
“I’m not so petty as to doubt my fiancé. —I’ll approve it as a preliminary investigation.”
Smiling, she leaned in close.
Her full breasts pressed against my arm, and her deep purple eyes pierced right through me.
“However—I won’t let you go alone. I’ll be coming with you. You don’t mind, do you?”
Her voice—sweet yet resolute—echoed through the room.
