Episode 30 – happy ending

Dinner that night was unusually quiet.

Normally, we would have been chatting about nothing at all, but the topic of conversation quickly faded away.

The only sounds were the ticking of the clock and the clacking of chopsticks.

I was sensing a strange atmosphere.

I just couldn’t seem to put it into words.

I looked next door and saw Iyoki-san eating her meal with the same exemplary posture as today.

She was sitting in a too-perfectly-beautiful seiza.

She looked so beautiful that I wondered if she really came out of TV.

I suddenly came back to myself and realized that this scene might have been bizarre to begin with.

As I was thinking about this, Iyoki-san glanced at me.

Our eyes met, and Iyoki-san smiled at me.

“What’s wrong? Looking at my face.”

“No, no, it’s nothing.”

“Fufu, I see.”

It was the usual answer.

But something is stuck.

Something is different from yesterday’s Iyoki-san.

But I still can’t grasp it clearly.

“Um, Iriake kun?”

“Yes?”

Iyoki-san looks at me with a will.

It’s nothing, it’s the usual scene.

Yes, nothing, the usual conversation.

“Iriake-kun, am I important to you?”

The words that strangely stuck in my head.

It was so foreign to me that for a moment I thought it was a word in a different language.

After five seconds, I finally understood the meaning of the words.

In the meantime, Iyoki-san was waiting for me with eyes that seemed to be expecting something from my words.

After saying it, I am not sure if this is right.

I don’t know if this is the right thing to say, but I don’t know if she was satisfied with my words or not.

We returned to our daily routines as if nothing had happened.

I had a feeling that I could not deviate from my normal routine.

So, following Iyoki san’s lead, I resumed eating.

Iyoki-san muttered again.

That’s strange.

I thought so because I felt a slight sense of discomfort.

Iyoki-san looks distorted.

Iyoki-san does not answer my call.

My consciousness continues to fade away.

Just before the thread of consciousness snapped.

I saw a glimpse of her face, which I couldn’t see because of the angle.

I fell to the floor.

The warm sunlight woke me up.

As I sat up my heavy body, I noticed that my body was closer to the right side of the bed than usual.

Feeling strange, I slowly move my gaze to the left.

“…… Eh?”

“Good morning, Iriake-kun ♡”

“W-why are you here ……?”

“Don’t you remember?””

“what …… does that mean?”

“What happened last night, you know. But it can’t be helped. Iriake-kun was really into it. I’ll forgive you, even if you don’t remember.”

“W-What?”

“The view you’re looking at right now, Iriake kun, is all there is.”

“…… I-Is that true?”

“Is it true? Take a look.”

Iyoki-san moves the futon off his body.

The morning sun shines on her white skin.

She was there just as she had been born.

“So, I’m really….”

“Yes. I and Iriake-kun–“

“We’re connected, you know?”

“! W-what did I do ……?”

“It’s all right. It was my first time, but …… I’m fine.”

“B-But! I don’t even remember, and I didn’t even go out with you, and I did this to you. ……”

“I said, it’s okay. I’m not angry.”

“That’s not the point. W-What should I do? what am I going to do now?”

“There’s only one thing to do.”

“Only one?”

“Yes. have decided to spend the rest of my life with my first person. Iriake-kun took away my first time, so there’s only one, right?”

There is only one.

……It is true, there is only one.

There’s only one thing I can do because I have nothing to do

“…..Y-yes.”

“Fufu, it’s all right if you know. If you understand. Please take responsibility for your words.”

“…… understand.”

“A good boy. Hey, Iriake kun.”

“Iyoki san?”

“We’ll be together from now on.”

One year later.

The after-school chime rings.

The area is abuzz with activity, and I quickly clean up and put my bag on my shoulder.

Just as I was rushing out of the classroom, I was approached by a voice that said

“Hey, Iriake! I-I mean, ……, why don’t we have dinner today? Shizuka’s with me!”

“Excuse me, I have some business to attend to.”

I have to go quickly.

I’m not allowed to stop here.

“Oh, hey! Iriake!”

I walk down the hallway and eventually I don’t hear the voice anymore.

Then I arrived at the shoe box and called out to my girlfriend.

“Sorry to keep you waiting, Sae.”

“Ah, Tomonari-kun! You finally came! Hurry up!”

“Yes.”

Feeling the weight of my girlfriend on my arm, I head home.

Me and my girlfriend’s house.

“Hey, Tomonari kun”

“What’s wrong?”

“Did you forget the usual?”

“Oh, sorry, Sae. I was careless.”

“Fufu, I know, right? Then, say it?”

“Yes.”

I turned my face firmly to my girlfriend and said as usual.

“I love you more than anything in the world.”

Then she smiled like she always does,

“Yes, well done ♡”

Ah, yes.

This is the reason I’m living next to her today.
