Episode 94 – Daily Conversation

“Haaa…. now I’m nervous …….”

Sara muttered anxiously as the four of us, Haruka, Ai, and Sara, were having lunch on the rooftop on Friday afternoon.

I think the reason she is nervous is because she is going to meet my mother tomorrow.

I told her that I wanted her to meet my mother on Sunday, and she had been nervous about it for the past week in particular.

I’ve told her many times that I’m fine with it, but she said she just gets nervous.

Well, I can totally understand that feeling.

“I’ve told you before that everything will be fine, because both of my parents approve of you. They just want to meet and talk this time, so it’s not a problem.”

She was not nervous at all and was just looking forward to it.

Apparently, she was worried the night she heard from me, but as time went by, her worry turned to enjoyment.

Well, it seems that one of the main reasons for this was that she had talked with Kaori san and heard about the good things she heard about my mother. I guess that and the fact that my own mother is a good friend of hers is another reason why I can afford to be so relaxed.

“Ah! I heard that Akuru is going to the amusement park with Mari chan on Sunday! That’s nice!~”

According to Ai and Sara, Haruka was more free-spirited in elementary school than she is now, and she often pushed them around.

One time, when the three of them were playing together, she suddenly remembered something strange and started saying something strange, changing their plans. Another time, when they thought Haruka hadn’t arrived at the meeting time and went to check on her, they found out she’d forgotten about their appointment and was hanging out with Kaori san at home…Well, that part was fine, but what got the two of them in trouble was what happened next.

Haruka used to be a very naughty girl and used to surprise them a lot.

Ai hated insects to the point of being extremely uncomfortable, but Haruka knew this and would often catch beetles or cicadas and show them to Ai, who would be so surprised that she would get angry several times. The worst time was when she showed Ai a worm, and Ai almost fell on her buttocks and hurt herself.

Knowing this, Haruka would ambush Sara at the corner of the school and suddenly start yelling, tell her scary stories, and show her videos on the computer at Sara and Ai’s house that would suddenly make a loud noise and show scary images at the same time. And when Sara saw them, she started to cry. Ai would get angry at her again. ……

There were several other things, but it seems that this was the one they were particularly troubled by.

Hearing this, it wouldn’t be strange for an elementary school student to dislike Haruka…or so I thought, but the two of them added that she had many more good points

“Well, by the time I got to the upper grades of elementary school, that went away,…… I liked Haruka, but the only thing I really didn’t like about her was the fact that she brought bugs,…….”

“I liked Haruka too, but the only thing I really wanted her to quit was the part where she would surprise me. …… I think I’ve been telling you that all along.”

“I’m so sorry! I was such an awfully little kid at the time!”

“Yeah, yeah. It’s a good memory now.”

Haruka said so in a truly apologetic manner.

It seemed like she was really reflecting on what had happened at that time.

“Well, that’s what Haruka was like when she was little.”

“I know it sounds like me to say it, but even though I was just a child, I regret that I willingly did things that I didn’t want to do.”

“I see,…… that Haruka is a more pleasant child than I thought. Then she is a little different from Haruka, a cheerful girl who seems to have taken the mischievousness out of the old Haruka. I think the three of you will understand once you meet her, and I think you will really like her once you meet her.”

“That’s exciting. Let’s visit Mari chan’s house sometime.”

“Yeah. We don’t get many opportunities to interact with young girls! I can’t wait to meet her!”
