Episode 7 – Basketball club (Last)

“Sano kun, you have a body that I would never have guessed you were in your first year of high school.”

“Thank you.”

“Sano-kun, I think you’ll be a regular player soon.”

“No, no, I am not ready yet.”

With this conversation going on, we finished our training and the practice went on without a hitch.

“Well then, everyone, today is the first day, and we want to see what the first-years are capable of, so we will play a red-and-white match with the first-years.”

Takumi said, and the team division began.

Teams were decided based solely on height, and the main character was assigned to a different team.

Then each team had to come up with a strategy.

“Then what’s your plan?”

Nozomu Sasaki, the rival of the protagonist in the game, was one of the two who made the roster in the first year.

He is a basketball fool who is interested in nothing but basketball.

So, since it was the first time for all of us to play together, we decided to go for the aggressive strategy rather than the lame one.

When the match was over, the result was an overwhelming victory for us.

That’s right, Sasaki was on my team and the protagonist was not doing well at all in the beginning.

When I looked at him, he was down on his knees.

Ai and Sara had finished distributing bottles to everyone and were encouraging him.

Takumi was talking to me and Sasaki.

“Sasaki kun, you can see the whole court very well and your passing skills are outstanding.”

“No, compared to my seniors, I still have a long way to go.”

“Sano kun, you are one step ahead of them. You are almost at the regular level.”

When I finished stretching and went to the shoe box to leave, I found Ai there.

“Sano kun, you must be a very strong basketball player.”

“My brother says you’ll be a regular player soon.”

The silence continued, and I felt awkward, so I asked her what was bothering her.

“Come to think of it, Yano and Kamiya have been friends since childhood, haven’t they?”

“That’s right. He’s so famous that anyone who went to junior high school with him knows him.”

“I see. Well, the four of us have been together since we were little.”

“So, Kamiya, after the game, he seemed really depressed, are you sure you don’t want to be with him?”

“Yes, I asked Sara to take care of Suguru.”

“Then I’ll go this way.”

When I arrived home, I took a bath, ate a quick meal, and immediately lay down on my bed.

“Phew~, basketball is so much fun.”

Things were a little different, but the main character lost and had to put more effort into practicing.

I was thinking about that when my phone rang.

My brother told me to ask if Sano-kun is going to join the club, how does it feel?”

“I think I’ll probably join, he was totally more welcoming than I thought he’d be.”

“Well, okay, I’ll let him know.”

“Yeah, thanks for everything.”

my seniors were really kind to me, and I guess Ai was helping me through that, so I’ll thank her again next time.

Takumi-san seems to have high expectations for me, so even though I was told that I would be included as a regular, I have to make sure I don’t cut corners in my practice.
