On the last day of our school trip, Hina and I were walking through one of the souvenir shops that line the tourist area.

Hina’s expression was joyful the whole time we were there, occasionally stopping to pick up an item.

“Sakine-chan, what does she like?”

I asked her as I looked at the knick-knacks lined up on the shelves of the store.

“Um, Sakine is generally happy with anything, but lately she seems to like cute things and sweets,”

Hina’s memory helped us to look at the items more carefully.

“I’m sure she’d love this bear strap. Wouldn’t she be happy?”

The one I picked up was a key chain in the shape of a colorful stuffed bear.

“That’s a good idea! Sakine, I often see her hanging something on her backpack that she always wears.”

“Then we’ll go with this one! And also, let’s buy some snacks. It’s a school excursion, and school excursions are all about sweets.”

And so, we headed for the sweets corner lined up nearby.

The colorful wrappings are eye-catching, and there are many products lined up in a narrow space.

“How about this? I heard it’s a local specialty.”

I picked up a pack of cookies in a cute package.

“Nice! Cookies we can share with everyone and Sakine will be happy too.”

Hina put them in the basket and made a slight hesitant gesture, “Is there anything else I can look at?”

“Did Hina buy anything for her own family?”

Hikaru asked as if suddenly remembering, and Hina gave a small nod, “Yes.”

“I bought accessories for my mom and Sakine yesterday. The rest is…..”

“What else?”

“No, it’s nothing. Hikaru, on the other hand, what would you like to receive as a gift?

“That’s right. Well… I’m basically indifferent, I don’t buy things myself that much, but I’d be happy to have them. Like a key chain.”

Hikaru listened to the conversation and shifted his gaze to a nearby shelf.

There was a line of keycases with a calm design.

“What do you think of this one? It looks simple and easy to use.”

Hina looked surprised when I picked it up and showed it to her, and then smiled.

“….. good idea. I would never have thought of something like this.”

Hina picked up the keychain and stared at it.

“Then, that’s the one I’m going to choose. We’ve picked out a souvenir for Sakine, and all that’s left is for us to go home.”

Hikaru said while stretching lightly, and Hina looked a little sad and depressed.

“I feel …… kind of like I don’t want to go home. It was fun.”

Hikaru nodded at those words, smiling gently.

“But this is not the end, right? There are still many more fun things to come.”

Hina looked up at those words and smiled again.

“I agree. I hope we can continue to have fun together.”

After choosing the souvenirs, we left the store with some regret.

After safely finishing the souvenir shopping, Hina and I boarded the bus in time for the assembly.

On the last day of the school trip, our classmates, who had been divided into groups, looked a little tired, but they were happily talking about their own episodes.

“Everyone seems to have had a good time.”

Hikaru muttered as he looked out the window, and Hina, who was standing next to him, gave a small nod.

“Yeah. It all happened so fast. But I think it was fulfilling.”

The bus headed for the airport, and a short time later the group boarded the plane.

Upon arrival at the school, each of the classmates seemed to be in a daze, packing up their belongings and chatting with each other, perhaps overcome by the fatigue of the trip.

The teacher gave a brief summary speech, and the students began to disperse.

“Everyone, thank you for your hard work. I’m so glad we didn’t forget anything or have any accidents. Be careful on your way home!”

The teacher’s voice was met with a curt “yes~” from the entire class.

Hina and I also left the school with our respective belongings in our hands.

After walking out of the gate for a while, Hina suddenly stopped.

“Hey, Hikaru. Do you want to walk around here for a little while?”

“What’s wrong? Aren’t you tired?”

“No. I’m just a little sad that this school trip is coming to an end,……, and I wanted to talk to you a little bit at the end.”

At these words, Hikaru was surprised, but nodded “okay” and started walking to a nearby park.

The park was quiet in the soft evening sunlight, a stark contrast to the bustle of the school trip.

As they sat down on a bench, Hina pulled out a small bag from her bag.

“Actually, I was going to give this to …… Hikaru.”

Inside the bag was a familiar key chain with a simple design.

I took it in my hand and showed a surprised look on my face.

“Is this for me?”

“Yes. I thought it would look good on Hikaru. It’s not as big of a deal as a souvenir ……, but will you accept it?”

I nodded with a slightly embarrassed smile.

“Thank you. I’m glad. You’re thinking about me this way.”

Hina looked away a little embarrassed, but her smile soon returned.

“I’m sure we’ll make lots of memories together from now on. Not only on school trips, but also in our daily lives.”

I nodded silently in my heart at her words, and the time I spent sitting next to her seemed very special.

The two of us then continued to laugh and talk about the happenings and fun we had on the trip on the way home. The road back to everyday life was filled with a sense of new beginnings for both of us.

▼Sakine’s Diary▼

Today, Onee chan came back from her trip!

I was so happy that she bought me a key chain with a bear on it.

I slept in the futon with onechan today.

We had a lot of fun talking and I didn’t feel lonely.

I didn’t understand what onee chan said about onii chan becoming a real onii chan, but when I asked her again, she was hiding behind the futon and I didn’t understand.

I can’t wait to meet onii chan
