Matsumura Hina.

She is a madonna in the same class at the same school as me, with shoulder-length light chestnut hair that sways softly, and her eyes and nose are so well-defined that she lives up to her madonna’s name.

Her large, clear eyes have a translucent, inviting appeal that draws the viewer in, and her white skin and slender figure have feminine lines that enhance her cuteness.

She is not a person that a shy guy like me should get involved with.

As I take a break to think about the girl I just met, Muraoka obaa chan returns and I call out to her

“I’m not going. I still have some time left on my part-time job.”

I go back to the backyard and tell Muraoka obaa chan that.

“No~. I told her that Tahara-kun was going, and I don’t think it’s right for a boy to make a pretty girl like that wait~. I’ll take care of the part-time job over here, so go.”

“I don’t like it. She’s a classmate of mine, but I’ve never talked to her, it’s just awkward.”

“You’re classmates!? Well~, it’s fate! You have to go there even more so. I’m going to go tell the others that Tahara-kun is leaving early~”

“Hey, Muraoka-san”

In spite of my efforts to stop her, Muraoka obaa chan quickly went away. I had nothing to do if I didn’t go, so I turned my head and thought.

What would Matsumura-san think if she knew it was me who saved her?

Would she feel that she owed me a favor?

Would she even know about me?

Even if she did, when she talked to me at school, I was sure to get cold stares from the other boys.

My best bet would be to avoid being recognized as me.

I put on my contacts, which I had been carrying with me for exercise, borrowed some wax from a part-time worker, and brushed my hair out of my eyes.

“I forgot to tell you …… Tahara-kun, you look so cool. You look like a different person.”

“Really? I hope so.”

“Hmm? Oh, the place is the cafe upstairs.”

Muraoka sancame back and told me that, and then she went away again with a grin on her face.

I looked in the mirror and wondered for a moment if it was me.

“Okay,” I said with enthusiasm and headed to the cafe that Muraoka obaa chan had specified.

I arrived at the café in the shopping mall and looked around.

I was worried that I might not be able to find it because it was getting crowded at that time of the day, but my fears were unfounded.

The only place that seemed to sparkle was around two familiar people sitting opposite each other at a four-person table at the end of the store, as if they were in another world.

“….. Um~, Matsumura-san, right?”

I asked them fearfully.

She hesitated for a moment, then smiled as she realized who I was and said something in return.

“Oh, you’re Hikarun’s?”

“Yes.”

“Thank you very much for the help you gave me just now.”

“No, no, no. Actually, it would have been nice to say thank you, but Muraoka obaa chan, ah, the aunt who was with me was making a lot of noise asking me to go…”

“Hikarun onii chan?”

While Matsumura Hina and I were having such a conversation, Sakine-chan, who was eating pancakes, looked at me curiously. She had whipped cream around her mouth like a mustache.

“That’s right~. Onii chan turns into Hikarun and is always watching everyone.~”

“Then onii chan is a hero!”

“That’s right! Isn’t that great?~”

“Yes!”

“Excuse me, Sakine-chan~”

I took a tissue from the table and wiped the whipped cream off her cheek.

“Thanks a lot!”

Her big smile was more dazzling than the sun and made me want to cover my eyes with my hands.

Perhaps because I was with her when she was lonely, she seems to have opened to me a lot.

“Saki, since onii san can’t sit down, move to be next to me!”

Matsumura Hina, perhaps realizing that I had been standing there for a long time, turned to Sakine-chan and said

“I don’t want to!”

“Not that! Hurry up and get over here!”

“No!”

“Come on! You’ll get onii san in trouble.”

“Hikarun onii chan is in trouble?”

As I watched the argument, Sakine suddenly looked up at me and asked me with eyes that looked as if she was about to cry.

“I-I won’t be bothered.”

How could I refuse?

I sat down next to Sakine-chan, who was smiling and tapping on the seat next to her, satisfied with my answer, not knowing that my heart was screaming like that.

“I’m sorry about our Sakine.”

“It’s really all right.”

“Please ask for something. I’ll pay for it.”

I took the menu from her and looked it over. While I was looking through the menu, I glanced at Matsumura Hina several times. She has shiny light chestnut hair cut just past her shoulders, and beautiful eyes. Once again, I reconfirm that the girl in the café with me is Matsumura Hina, the class madonna and the most popular girl in the class.

“Black coffee, please.”

I asked for something I’ve never had before.

“Can you drink it, wow. I can’t drink it at all.”

She ordered me a drink while saying that.

I don’t think she realized that I was a shady guy in her class, but I hope she’ll forgive me because it’s the nature of men to want to look cool in front of a cute girl.

“Um, what should I call you?”

“I haven’t told you my name yet. I am Nakahara Hikaru.”

I was concerned that my name might give me away as a classmate, so I quickly gave my mother’s maiden name, Nakahara, as my last name.

“My name is Matsumura Sakine! The kanji means “flower blooms” and “music” in Japanese, and I’m 5 years old!”

“Five years old~. Then you’re an senpai now.”

“Yes! I’ll be in elementary school next year!”

After hearing the introduction, Sakine-chan cheerfully introduced herself as well.

“Then, I’ll introduce myself once again. I’m Matsumura Hina, a sophomore in high school. Are you a high school student, Nakahara-san?”

“Oh, yes. I’m also a sophomore in high school like you, Matsumura-san, so you can call me by my first name.”

“Oh, really?! Then, without hesitation.”

I could sense that she was a cheerful person as soon as she said that and changed her language

After that, we talked about unimportant things and the time passed.

“I had to get ready for dinner, so I had to leave soon. Thank you so much for today.”

“No problem.”

“Sakine, he’s going home. Say bye bye to onii chan”

“Bye bye, Hikarun onii chan. See you later.”

And so we each headed home.

I waved to them, saying, “See you later,” but I knew in my heart that we would probably never meet again, since she was not aware that I was a classmate of hers.
