My sister and I walk to the station side by side.
It’s just like yesterday, only the time is a little different.
There is no change in the scenery, but the people walking on the street are all different from usual.
I was a little amazed at the difference just by leaving the house early enough.
Time is money, they say, and morning time is precious.
Everyone’s life is as different as the person who lives it. I was a little bit aware of this.
It may sound strange to realize something like this, but I think it is not so bad to be able to gain this kind of awareness through a trivial opportunity.
“What’s wrong, Nii san?”
Alice asked me with a curious look, perhaps noticing that I had been in a daze.
“Yeah. I thought I saw some people who were different from usual.
“Ah, that’s for sure.”
Alice nodded her head in agreement.
Even in my sister’s eyes, it looked like a fresh scene…..I thought.
“But there are quite a few people I see on the train on the way home.”
“Eh? Really?”
“Yes. The woman in front of the vending machine is on the same train sometimes, and I often see the man in the black suit over there on Fridays.”
Alice explained while looking at me as if to confirm, but I had no recollection of them at all.
I had a feeling that I had seen them before, but I was not sure if I could say for sure that they were the one.
“That’s amazing, Alice. I had no idea.”
When I look at my younger sister how enthusiastically she answers, I feel depressed because of the difference in our memory abilities.
“Do you consciously watch things like that?”
“It’s nothing in particular. Somehow I just remember things somehow, and I compare them with what I remember.”
“Somehow, huh?”
I guess the difference in performance is that you can do something like that easily.
I’m fed up with my poor memory, but there is no way to replace my head. If only sighing could make you smarter, no one would have any trouble.
“I’m sure you could do it, too, if you wanted to.”
“No, thanks. I don’t even know the names and faces of my classmates yet.”
“Eh, is that so?”
‘Yeah, Alice is……no, you don’t have to answer. I can already tell by the look on your face.”
By the time she looked surprised, Alice must have already remembered everyone.
Depressed by this, we passed through the ticket gate. Feeling ennui, I headed to the platform and saw that the train had just arrived.
“Um, Nii san, I’ve been going to competitions and other places where there are a lot of people around for a long time, so I guess you could say I’m a natural learner.”
“No, it’s okay, Alice. I don’t need you to comfort me. I’m just feeling depressed on my own, so please don’t worry about it…”
We lined up vertically to get in so as not to get in the way of other people, but Alice seemed to be concerned about the conversation we had just had, and started talking to me from behind.
I shook my head slightly and looked around, but the inside of the car was still crowded.
Even though it was early in the morning, there seemed to be no seats available.
I had no choice but to reach for the strap. I can feel a hard sensation in my palm, and I can clearly see that I’m holding it. I feel a sense of relief.
This is because I can sense and understand that I am here. I don’t know if it’s okay, but at least I liked the moment when I knew I was here.
“No, that’s not the case……ah.”
I was distracted by that, but I guess my sister was not.
Alice was still talking to me, but her voice suddenly stopped.
I looked in the direction Alice was looking and wondered what it was.
“Good morning, Hidetaka kun. You’re early today, aren’t you?”
For a moment, I felt like I stopped breathing.
Amane, who was not supposed to be there, was somehow there again today.
