Day 2 at School

We got right into it—the dungeon run has begun.

Apparently, the school’s plan is to have us experience the dungeon’s atmosphere and learn how to fight monsters early on, hoping this will lead to rapid growth.

By the way, the main character won’t die, but some of the background characters will.

Just like you’d expect from a depressing game.

But still, I want to save my classmates as much as possible.

With that in mind, I step into the dungeon.

By the way, the dungeon has multiple floors, and the enemies get stronger the deeper you go.

So the first floor is easy, but by the time you reach the tenth floor, they’re pretty tough.

It depends on the dungeon, but the maximum confirmed number of floors is 32.

Huh? You think that’s a bit of a half-measure?

Well, that’s only natural—no human has ever made it past the 32nd floor.

For this dungeon exploration, it seems we’re only allowed to go as far as the first and second floors.

I head straight to the second floor.

Quite a few people have made it to the second floor.

I’ve been defeating monsters since I got here, but isn’t this a breeze?

They’re so weak I can beat them with my bare hands.

Are people really dying from stuff like this? Seriously?

At that moment, I let my guard down.

The heroines, of course, but even the other background students are casually defeating monsters.

I was being too naive.

If I’d been on my guard, I would’ve noticed something I failed to notice.

Three random students are making a commotion.

Thinking they were being a bit too loud, I looked over at the trio.

That’s when I noticed.

Wait… there’s no magical reaction coming from that spot at all…?

“Hey!”

The moment I called out, the trio turned into dice-shaped steaks.

Time froze for everyone present.

Immediately after, the dungeon was engulfed in chaos and screams.

Everyone started running toward the exit.

Some students were unable to move.

“Hey! Get out of the way! Move it, you trash!”

I yelled at the students who were standing still.

Then the princess said,

“What are you doing at a time like this! You can’t even cooperate!”

and led the students who couldn’t move away.

I was the only one left behind.

If I’d noticed sooner, I could have saved them.

I’m sorry…

I was too naive.

I can’t protect anyone like this.

A monster emerges from the depths.

The six-armed Zar-Gear…

A melee type. The fact that it has no magic makes it a real pain.

Plus, that thing is usually found on the 10th floor or higher.

In the game, it just said “casualties occurred,” but now a monster like this is actually appearing…

I can’t hold back now.

With that thought, I activated my ability and cast a spell at the same time.
