In my seventeen years of life, I have seen, only once, the moment when a person falls in love.
Three years ago. It was a cold winter day.
“….. cool.”
The girl’s eyes were shining as she looked straight at him as he ran across the field.
Her fingers were clasped together as if praying, and her legs trembled slightly before becoming as hard as stone.
After doing so, a pure white sigh escaped from the girl’s mouth.
She looked somewhat satisfied, yet anxious.
The girl blinked for a long time.
with a glimpse of condescension. But then, the girl said.
“Um, are you looking for a manager?”
She said this while being extremely nervous.

“I’m home.”
After that, I had a light talk with Aota and Koganei about the old days, and then I went home.
It usually takes me about 15 minutes to walk from the high school to my house. But today, I think it took me about 20 minutes.
“Even so, Shiramine-san, huh,……?”
Her looks are among the best in the world, she’s a great cook, and from what I’ve heard from talking to her, she seems pretty intelligent too. As for her personality… I’m still not sure, but she doesn’t seem like a bad girl. She’s probably a nice girl.
“I wonder if the other heroines are okay…huh?”
As I took off my shoes and stepped into the hallway, I heard the sound of people chatting coming from the living room.
I have an older sister, Hayami Ajisai, who is a college student. My parents travel overseas for work, so I practically live alone
“Nee san, is she calling anyone she knows?”
I went upstairs to my room, put my bag down, and headed for the living room.
“Nee san? Who are you talking to…geh?”
The person who was sitting at one of the four-person tables in the living room was.
“Hayami senpai. I’m sorry to bother you.”
Shiramine Hisui sat down in one of the seats quite naturally. Then she turned around with just her head and gave a slight wave.
“Wh-why is Shiramine-san… here?”
“Ren, you’ve become good friends with a great girl. There’s no one cuter than her!”
Judging from the steam rising from the two mugs on the desk, it seems she just arrived.
“No no, Onee-sama. I’m nothing special. Besides, different people have different standards for what’s cute.”
“No no, Hisui-chan is cute no matter who sees her. I just want to eat her.”
My sister, being my sister, seemed to really like Shiramine Hisui. After all, it was quite rare for my lazy sister to treat people to tea and sweets.
“…Huh!?”
I almost fell to my knees in surprise. After all, it was …… that was being offered as a tea cake.
“The secret….. that I bought the other day, right?”
“Oh, really? I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’ll buy it again.”
“……ugh.”
By this point, I knew that it was a promise that would never be fulfilled. After all, it was a limited edition product made by my favorite Japanese sweets shop to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its founding. So… I have to wait another 100 years?
“Haa… I’m going to get changed.”
Aghast, I turned my back to go back upstairs again. And then, she grabbed me by the sleeve.
“Hayami-senpai. May I come in your room?”
“Eh?…..Eh!?”
“Eh, that’s fine and I’m going to go to a mixer soon,…… so please be moderate and get along with each other, okay? Fufu”
Hey, stop it. sister. Unlike you, who has started college and is running straight down the road to adulthood, your brother is now in the throes of puberty. Think of his heart as more fragile than glass.
“Don’t worry. No matter what happens, …… I’ll, fufufu”
“I-I’m scared.”
“Shall we go? Senpai.”
And so, indeed, Shiramine Hisui followed me to my room.
A study desk, a closet, and a reclining bed. There shouldn’t be anything interesting about it.
“Here is the room …… of Hayami-senpai whom I dreamed of.”
“Oh, oh. What’s up with you all of a sudden?”
“Soooo.”
Why the deep breath? Or rather, why are you at …… our house in the first place?
“What’s wrong with you today? Still feeling like you needed something?”
I asked as I lifted a hanger from the wall and hooked the blazer I had taken off.
“No, it’s nothing serious. I just came by to say hello. May I sit down……?”
Shiramine Hisui pointed to the bed. I nodded.
“Of course. So, what’s this about saying hello?”
“Yes. I moved in next door this morning.”
“What!?”
I was shocked. It’s true that for the past couple of years, the apartment next door had put up a sign asking for tenants, but this was quite sudden.
“I’m going to be living on my own after high school, so I wanted to get to know senpai better.”
W’what”
“The school is a fifteen-minute walk, so I’ll pick you up every morning around 8:00 a.m., right? I cook too much living alone, so please let me make lunch for you.”
“Wait, wait. You’re talking too fast.”
The distance between us is strange. I’ve never met her before. I don’t have any reason to ask you to go that far, and I’m not asking you to.
“….No, is it?”
Her eyes were like those of a kitten clinging to you. It was hard to refuse when someone looked at me like that.
“I get it…”
That’s clearly a form of blackmail, I thought to myself, but I couldn’t help but nod.
“Then it’s settled. Let’s put an end to this discussion…Now then.”
Shiramine Hisui slowly stood up and began to look around the room frantically.
“Senpai, I have a question for you: if you were to hide something, where would you hide it?”
“What?”
“’It is, of course, something you don’t want people to see, something you are ashamed to be seen with.”
Is this some kind of psychological test? I thought about it for a while.
“After all, if you think about it in terms of a template, something like …… under the bed?”
If it were me, I would hide such things at the bottom of a cardboard box in the closet.
“I see. This is it?”
“Huh?!”
Did she read my mind? As much as I think so, Shiramine heads straight for the closet.
“Do you know, senpai? When humans have something to hide or be shady with, they unconsciously move their eyes away or look at the place where they hid it, you know?”
Shiramine Hisui says with a smug look on her face
“I don’t mind looking inside, but I don’t think there’s anything interesting in there, you know?”
“It’s okay, senpai. I’ll accept you no matter what you are… Ah.”
As soon as she opened the closet, her eyes landed on the chest of drawers inside. Her eyes were glued to a half-open cardboard box.
“What is this ……?”
“It’s a trophy. when I was playing soccer.”
I think there are some from when I was in junior high school, when we came in fourth in the prefecture. Going back even further, there are some from my elementary school days. They were all pretty much forced on me by the coach at the time.
“….I’m sorry.”
Shiramine immediately looked depressed and remorseful and closed the closet door.
“Eh? What?”
I don’t understand why she should apologize. I said it was okay to look, so I had no intention of getting angry no matter what happened.
“…No, I was just being a bit insensitive.”
The air was very awkward.
Hmmm…. Not that I minded, but ……
I glanced at the clock on the wall.
It was already around three o’clock.
“I want to go shopping for dinner, what about you, Shiramine-san?”
It’s Thursday. I’m on dinner duty.
My sister had run out of food in the refrigerator yesterday, so I had to go buy something.
“Ah, I’ll go with you. Is that okay?”
“Okay, then. ……Ha!”
No, wait. Now that I think about it, isn’t that quite a romantic comedy move?
“I-I knew it. …….”
“Well, shall we go? Senpai. Or, after you agreed once, you won’t say no after all, will you?”
Her smile was like a blooming white rose, but behind it I sensed an immense pressure.
“Oh, yes. Can we go to a nearby supermarket?”
“Of course. I don’t know the area very well, so please let me know.”
I changed into appropriate clothes and left the house with Shiramine Hisui
The supermarket is just a short walk away if you pass through the shopping street near the station.
“As if we were newlyweds. Senpai.”
I put the basket on the cart and went into the store, she crossed her arms with a mock blush on her cheeks.
Hey, hey, no matter how much you want to shoot horses, it’s going to be misunderstood, okay? Not to me, but to those around me.
“What would you like for dinner? I’ll cook it for you with all my skill.”
“Eh? No, that’s not what I meant.”
“Me. I’m good at cooking.”
Hmm, that phrase sounds familiar.
I had just thought that when something happened.
“Hmm, what’s that?”
There was a familiar face in the vegetable corner.
“Oh, h-hello, ……Hayami kun.”
As soon as our eyes met, she bailed out.
The girl is one of my classmates.
“─ ───Kazekawa Tsuki, is it?”
Shivers. I don’t know why, but Shiramine Hisui’s words sent chills down my skin.
No, no.
What really creeped me out was not what Shiramine Hisui said, but what I saw in her eyes.
Her eyes were narrowed sharply, as if she were glaring at the enemy
