Episode 2 – I’ve decided to go through with it for now because it’s so fishy.

Thirty minutes later, I was lying on a bed in the infirmary.

Why I am here, I suppose, needs a little explanation.

What had just happened – a very beautiful transfer student hugging me – was indeed a real event.

And it seems as unlikely as a romantic comedy.

Have I ingested so much romantic comedy ingredients that I’m finally hallucinating in broad daylight? ……

I was seriously worried about my head.

But fortunately, my head is quite healthy.

There was a very simple and obvious reason for my earlier incident.

First of all, that transfer student …… Minazuki Mai was an acquaintance …… of mine, or rather a childhood friend.　

Since graduating from elementary school, we had no contact with each other at all, even though we went to different junior high schools and I didn’t recognize her immediately,…….

To be honest, I don’t know what Mai is thinking and I don’t want to know.

But at least it is definitely not possible that Mai is thinking about me …….

People …… especially women are creatures that should never be trusted.

I have learned that painfully from my own experience.

I was suddenly abandoned by my family …… my step-mother and stepsister …… one day three years ago.

They were supposed to be …… close to me all through my childhood.

They were the only family I had left except for my grandfather.

Up until that time, they had always said things like, “Yui is everything to us,” and “There is nothing more important than Yui”

At the time, I was really stupid, but I innocently took their words at face value.

However, when my grandfather passed away, these women revealed their true nature to me.

“If that noisy old man is dead, I don’t have to support you anymore!”

“I can’t live with a creepy little kid like you!”

I was kicked out of the house.

They were, well …… I’m sure they were beautiful.

But I can only remember their ugly faces now as they revealed their emotions.

In the end, I was just a money spinner for them.

After that, I was forced to move to a rundown apartment in the suburbs that belonged to my grandfather.

Well, there’s no point in going on and on about …… my misfortunes.

I generally don’t begrudge my situation so much now.

In this tiresome world, things like mine happen all the time.

Objectively speaking, I’m not that unhappy.

But that’s why I don’t trust people ……, especially women.

I am especially wary of …… beautiful women.

So, when Mai hugged me, my first instinct was to be wary.

And when I saw her up close, I finally realized that the transfer student in front of me was my childhood friend Mai.

This fact set my existing alert sensor to its maximum.

In other words, I immediately realized that this was a false accusation by Mai, …….

Then, in order to protect my peaceful life as a loner, I thought I had to do something to break out of this situation.

First, I stood up as if nothing had happened,

“Excuse me, I don’t know you. You have the wrong person.”

I said calmly to Mai.

Mai seemed to have not expected my reaction,

They were stunned.

I am sure everyone, including Mai, was expecting me to overreact like an idiot and get dramatic.

Some of them were even pointing their phones at me and Mai already, even though we were in class.

However, my classmates seemed to have been completely betrayed by my expectations, and the classroom was filled with a blank atmosphere.

“What …… wrong person,……?”

“Well,……, that’s what you would normally think.”

　
That was so naive, Mai.

I’m no longer the naive and stupid person I was three years ago.
　

You probably thought I’d be ridiculously happy about it anyway,…….

I’ve made a firm commitment to never trust you …… or any real woman anymore.

Now …… your lie-telling strategy of pleasing me and then later humiliating me by taking me off the ladder in a big way is a disaster.

Seeing Mai looking so dumbfounded, I couldn’t help but drop my face.
